And this is, don't forget, the Smart Bush.

22 ( +23 / -1 )

The GOP's "Turn Off Latinos" campaign is going so well that they've now decided to expand it to Asians.

15 ( +16 / -1 )

Black Sabbath,

Yes, but don't forget. It's all relative :)

3 ( +6 / -3 )

And this is, don't forget, the Smart Bush.

That's an oxymoron innit?

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Anchor babies should not be allowed citizenship. If parents are visiting legally, with some kind of student or work visa, fine, but on holiday? No way. But in any case, give the child citizenship, not the parents, siblings, cousins, etc. Absolutely ridiculous.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Anchor babies are a good thing for the US - they tax their citizens no matter where they live, so it increases tax revenues.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Way down on my list of really bad memes is 'but I'm not a racist’, used after a candidate disparages people from a geographic area different from where his ancestors came from.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

"And this is, don't forget, the Smart Bush."

Dumb...Dumber...Dumbest™ Bush

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Saw a great comment about Jeb. It related to what was said about George W. Bush by Ann Richards: "He was born on third and thought he hit a triple". The comment was Jeb was "rounding third and heading home".

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Weren't the ancestors of present day Americans all "illegal aliens" ?

8 ( +12 / -4 )

Say what you will about the Bush's, their not stupid. A father-son presidency says volumes. Disagreeing with their policies is an entirely different matter. Why is it 'liberals' insult and hate so often? All the time far off base in the slander.

Jeb is not my choice, is he an idiot? Not a chance. Is he honest? Yea, I think so. Is he a polotician? Yes!

-9 ( +4 / -13 )

Your right, MarkG...Prescott Bush was 'smart' enough to get in bed with the Nazis to make all those war bucks

4 ( +6 / -2 )

He wasn't the only one. Ethics are lacking with many big money makers. A real selfish trait.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

It seems that birthright citizenship is one of American dreams and everybody try to get it. Especially Chinese love it very much. That's I heard.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

about 40,000 babies are born to birth tourists, most of whom legally enter the country, annually

If the mothers enter the country legally, and the law says that babies born in America have American citizenship, I don't see the problem.

Does America think it has too many citizens? All those folks who go home and are still liable to pay US taxes? What's the problem?

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Say what you will about the Bush's, their not stupid. A father-son presidency says volumes.

You beat me to it. Spot on!

Disagreeing with their policies is an entirely different matter. Why is it 'liberals' insult and hate so often?

When you have NO solutions, backed in a corner, bombarded with facts, libs have a very difficult time containing their anger, rage and contort themselves into engaging in useless, baseless and often funny ad hominem attacks.

All the time far off base in the slander.

It's the liberal narrative.

Jeb is not my choice, is he an idiot? Not a chance. Is he honest? Yea, I think so. Is he a polotician? Yes!

I agree, he is a gentleman, but Jeb is way over his head in this. Jeb, honest as he is, just did himself a disservice by his stance on immigration and common core. Appreciate the honesty, but the people absolutely hate it and want nothing to do with those policies.

Weren't the ancestors of present day Americans all "illegal aliens" ?

Sure as everyone else in the world, but now as an established nation with laws, and jurisdictions, you have to follow the laws of the country that you reside in. People that come in illegally and undocumented are "illegal aliens."

-8 ( +5 / -13 )

'a polotician' = regular guy polo shirt candidate?

Add another 'l' and that sounds like a hybrid Spanish-English chicken farm worker. JEB is getting his followers to speak Spanglish!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Doesn't every American right-wingnut quote the "Give me your tired, your poor/Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free" bs? I does explain a lot about the American right-wingnuts though, if you read between the words

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

"Earlier this year, federal authorities served search warrants on three dozen homes in California as part of an investigation into three businesses that fly Chinese expectant mothers to the United States, put them up in special hotels and deliver their children. Authorities filed charges against 10 Chinese nationals who violated federal court orders in the case and fled the country." - article

So, again, the Obama Administration is addressing specific abuses while Trump dumps hand grenades on the GOP-Tea. While "Bush favors a path to legal status" the GOP-Tea's "Cruz again said he didn't support a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants living in America" (WFAA-TV Dallas-Fort Worth on 2012 Texas Senate debate , Oct 2, 2012)

Over and above the Bush/Trump whirlpool of 'I know you are but what am I?' childishness what the public sees is a party willing to openly fan racism and prejudice.

That's hardly what the Public Relations 101 class taught.

Then again, the public also sees the GOP-Tea is the party that claims education is the enemy. Somehow Bubbles Bush will wither the battle and end up one of those defeated shells of a politician whom no one can remember what the fuss was all about.

The last thing Bubbles should be doing is touting 'anchor babies' on one hand and then justifying it by citing his marriage to Columba Garnica de Bush. Why not have a less prejudiced vocabulary and a less manipulative use of his marriage?

In one word then: Integrity. At long last, this is what the GOP-Tea does not have, cannot buy and fails at in every twisting strangulation of their core message.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Does America think it has too many citizens? All those folks who go home and are still liable to pay US taxes? What's the problem?

you're missing the point. this is the right-wing misinformation about anchor babies--many GOPers believe that these babies will pass on their citizenship to their parents, which is completely false. the parents will still get deported if caught. meanwhile, the baby is raised in foster care or with relatives. once the child reaches 18, they can then apply for a green card for their parents and relatives. but the whole narrative that these babies "anchor" their family to america is false and racially charged.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Doesn't every American right-wingnut quote the "Give me your tired, your poor/Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free" bs? I does explain a lot about the American right-wingnuts though, if you read between the words.

Oh, please! What besides more debt, stagnant financial growth, influx of illegals, wages down, unaffordable healthcare, unemployment benefits up, welfare up, what have the looney libs given us the past 7 years??? Talk about BS!

So, again, the Obama Administration is addressing specific abuses while Trump dumps hand grenades on the GOP-Tea.

Did Obama build a wall? Did he advocated on curbing all the illegals currently or asking for new legislation on punishing employers that employ illegal aliens??

Over and above the Bush/Trump whirlpool of 'I know you are but what am I?' childishness what the public sees is a party willing to openly fan racism and prejudice.

So then that means Bernie is a racist as well. He also is a big advocate for closing the border and being hard on illegals and putting Americans first.

That's hardly what the Public Relations 101 class taught.

Most libs were too busy smoking to notice and remember that class.

Then again, the public also sees the GOP-Tea is the party that claims education is the enemy. Somehow Bubbles Bush will wither the battle and end up one of those defeated shells of a politician whom no one can remember what the fuss was all about.

This is why we rank almost nearly at the bottom of the pool when it comes to education it's because of whacked liberalism think like that is destroying our schools, and the libs still support these unions! It's disgusting!

The last thing Bubbles should be doing is touting 'anchor babies' on one hand and then justifying it by citing his marriage to Columba Garnica de Bush. Why not have a less prejudiced vocabulary and a less manipulative use of his marriage?

I don't think it's anyone's business.

In one word then: Integrity. At long last, this is what the GOP-Tea does not have, cannot buy and fails at in every twisting strangulation of their core message.

And this coming from the people that support the party that wants and breeds more socialism. Astounding!

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

you're missing the point. this is the right-wing misinformation about anchor babies--many GOPers believe that these babies will pass on their citizenship to their parents, which is completely false.

Wrong. When the children become adults, they can sponsor their parents or other relatives.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Jeb... Sigh... What a nincompoop.

"...I was talking about a very narrow system of fraud..."

In which case, one has to ask why he would even let illegal immigration dominate so much of his campaign, and right out of the gate, no less. As Jeb would have us believe, it's not Hispanic anchor babies that bother him. It's not Asian anchor babies that keep him up at night. No. What he wants Americans to be particularly keyed in on is a "very narrow system of fraud" that apparently requires the kind of presidential attention only he can bring.

Right.

If ever there was a more flagrant example of naked pandering and populism, then I must have missed it, because Jeb has taken "telling people only what they want to hear" to a whole new level with this circus act.

Illegal immigration most certainly is not the most pressing issue facing America today, or one that should draw so much attention from GOP presidential contenders. It's the economy, stupid. And no, illegal immigration is not what's holding back the economy. Not by a long shot.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

When the children become adults, they can sponsor their parents or other relatives.

Is that a problem?

0 ( +5 / -5 )

"Why not have a less prejudiced vocabulary (Bubbles Bush) and a less manipulative use of his marriage?" response: "I don't think it's anyone's business." - comments

But, as always, it is Bubbles himself who makes the statement that makes his own marriage a manipulative tool of argument with Trump. Now that's the definition of a loser, you know, what Trump calls Americans. That's a really great ball game the GOP-Tea is rolling in. No wonder country fairs are their favorite venue, plenty of horse s*it to roll in.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Lets talk the truth... I know Many people that go to USA to have their children. Its not Rocket Science.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

"I know Many people that go to USA to have their children. Its not Rocket Science."

For many Americans, it is

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Agreed that there is a boom for Chinese to give birth in the USA. So popular that there are companies offering travel packages with hospital and Accommodation's.

I think it is a problem for the USA, as mentioned parents, etc are considered Dependants of the child and thus elligible for social welfare and other benefits.

Also US citizenship grows but a lot of the 'Citizens' live overseas but can attend US schools, etc.

Let's see Chinese economy drop further and those with dual-citizenship can move to the states. Could be a problem if the number is big enough.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The birthright policy needs to change. As does the amnesty for illegals. What will happen is each 'new citizen' can sponsor family members to a point that Born in USA is the minority. And referring to an above post stating 40,000 per year I read in two news outlets the number was 400,000 last year alone.

The Chinese had a 'birth hotel' in California last year. Illegals cross for free hospital birth and some return and other stay. It's a problem now. It was good when the USA was a growing nation but it is a stagnating nation now. And the current stock market is eroding what those trillions of printed dollars tried to do.

Simply put, USA cannot afford it any longer. USA is the common taxpayer.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Illegal immigration most certainly is not the most pressing issue facing America today, or one that should draw so much attention from GOP presidential contenders. It's the economy, stupid.

It is the economy predominately, this is true to a point....

And no, illegal immigration is not what's holding back the economy. Not by a long shot.

But make NO mistake. Illegal immigration is a huge problem, particularly for the border states. As a Californian, there is No disputing that fact. In many areas of Los Angeles, Spanish is becoming the dominate language, speaking English is not encouraged, many of the Mexican Cartels use US Mexican American street gangs to help them with their drug smuggles, doing hits, laundering money, illegals are coming in, committing more crimes, murder, assault, rape, the sanctuary cities are out of control and often refuse to work with ICE and the problems are perpetuated by Dems that constantly and consistently vote for out of control legal progressive policies that favor the illegals more than the native citizens and that is a huge issue for Americans.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

!Doesn't every American right-wingnut quote the "Give me your tired, your poor/Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free" bs? I does explain a lot about the American right-wingnuts though, if you read between the words.." @Kenny. If you're going to use that quote then use the method of legal immigration; standing in line, filling out forms, etc. Check the photos at Ellis Island; you see people stading in line and following the law, not making a mad dash across the border. There is a difference.

So,since when do politicians apologize for what they spew out of their mouth? Jeb Bush should've chosen his words wisely....but that's politics for ya.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I hate the Bush clan and an ashamed that my country every put one in the presidency, let along two, but:

It would be bigoted to say this: Any and all Asians/ Chinese would jump at the chance to use an anchor baby to get themselves residency in America.

But its not bigoted to say this: We have recently begun to have serious problems with some Asians/Chinese using anchor babies to get themselves residency in America.

People taking offense at number two are trying way to hard to take offense. Its obvious. If the term "anchor baby" is being used in reference to some certain people abusing the laws of the United States to obtain residency, its not the fault of the speaker that he mentions those certain people is it? And there is nothing inherently offensive about the terms "anchor" or "baby" is there?

Reminds me a bit of the "tar baby" flap. People try way to hard to take offense in the non-offensive. I hope we can bury Bush in more honest ways.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I hate the Bush clan and an ashamed that my country every put one in the presidency, let along two

I feel horrified and ashamed that the we elected Obama, one the absolute presidents since the creation of the union and I pray that the US never make that kind of mistake and what's worse is that the first African American president had to mess it up for all Blacks, that is sad.

-14 ( +0 / -14 )

we elected Obama, one the absolute presidents since the creation of the union

You missed a word, but don't worry, I know what you were trying to say:

"we elected Obama, one the absolute best presidents since the creation of the union"

5 ( +7 / -2 )

What I know... US of A should change it official language to Spanish and relegate English as secondary... because, that is the reality.

Arriba la Ñ!!! Ahuevados!!!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"...and what's worse is that the first African American president had to mess it up for all Blacks"

Oh, bully-bully...you have as much sympathy for African Americans as you do for those nasty Asian anchor birthers or whatever you right-wingnuts have labelled them...cuz Repubes are good at making up labels...

7 ( +7 / -0 )

In your dreams Stranger! I'm with bass on his view. Obama's legacy will be one to forget. I would love to see Ben Carson in the Oval Office next. So there, you can't call me a racist a again because I am no fan of Obama.

Bombarded with facts? One 'fact' about immigration from some conservatives is Al Qaida setting up bases in Mexico and sending terrorists over the border who are 'acting Hispanic'.

Evidence? Zero. Stupidity? Plenty.

Jeb may be better going down this route now. His complete cock-up on this issue has made him look incompetent. The types who enjoy the Al Qaida fairytales don't know or care what that word means. They like 'strong'.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

@Bass:

All the time far off base in the slander.

It's the liberal narrative.

...you do realize there was a huge huge bit about how Clinton was going to jail for leaking secrets or whatever...and that she was found innocent by the state department right?

I'm not saying what she did was right or honest...but the claims made by the right were pretty slanderous.

Simply put, Team Red hates Team Blue, Blue hates Red. Both sides will never amount to anything as long as their heads are so far up their own collective rear that they can't look at issues for what they are without always having to go full "US vs. THEM".

1 ( +2 / -1 )

"And this is, don't forget, the Smart Bush."

Amazing how Trump and others can use the term anchor babies but Bush can't.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Jeb Bush might be a decent person, but he has been a disappointment so far! Anchor babies existed through the loop hole of the proper interpretation of the law by all ethnics group. Jeb, please slow down on Tacos and Mexican beans.

"I feel horrified and ashamed that the we elected Obama, one the absolute presidents since the creation of the union and I pray that the US never make that kind of mistake and what's worse is that the first African American president had to mess it up for all Blacks, that is sad." - comment

Really?

A more definitive expression of racial prejudice is hard to find. It is good that this level of bigotry is tolerated because it defines an entire political party, the GOP-Tea. Well done.

If anyone thought Bubbles Bush had a problem with his "anchor baby" issue at leaste the reader finds out why this kind of systemic prejudice is drawn to the GOP-Tea.

Just stunning and at the same time enlightening of the depth of racial hatred that supported the 'Birthers' and the tacit approval of racism within the GOP-Tea.

What we read isn't a qualitative statement but a pure distillation of prejudice. No amount of counter argument to the GOP-Tea can more fully illustrate their primitive mind set. Congratulations. You have held up the mirror and it is the GOP-Tea we see.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

'Simply put, Team Red hates Team Blue, Blue hates Red. Both sides will never amount to anything as long as their heads are so far up their own collective rear that they can't look at issues for what they are without always having to go full "US vs. THEM".'

Very clear and commonsensical. Unfortunately, despite example after example of idiotic and vicious rhetoric from both sides, the partisans still think like 6-year-olds and come out with 'well, he started it' or 'yes, but he does it worse'. You can't argue with that - it's emotional and reinforced by idiotic tabloids on air.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

"we elected Obama, one the absolute best presidents since the creation of the union"

LOL, I did!! Sorry, my bad. I'm driving and it's bad manners to drive and text. I meant "worst" but thanks for pointing that out.

Bombarded with facts? One 'fact' about immigration from some conservatives is Al Qaida setting up bases in Mexico and sending terrorists over the border who are 'acting Hispanic'.

Could be.

Evidence? Zero. Stupidity? Plenty.

We just don't know. Stupidity, if it doesn't compute with liberal rationale, as usually nothing ever does, perhaps.

Jeb may be better going down this route now. His complete cock-up on this issue has made him look incompetent. The types who enjoy the Al Qaida fairytales don't know or care what that word means. They like 'strong'.

Al Qaida fairytales??? Wow, just Wow, dude!

Oh, bully-bully...you have as much sympathy for African Americans as you do for those nasty Asian anchor birthers or whatever you right-wingnuts have labelled them...cuz Repubes are good at making up labels...

I have sympathy, but for Americans first, I want to take care of OUR people first. Do you know how many Americans are living below the poverty level? How many are living like the refugees that are coming over our borders and NO one gives a damn about them, but we have to worry about people from Mexico, Asia and Africa first???? Sorry, I don't and I won't!

...you do realize there was a huge huge bit about how Clinton was going to jail for leaking secrets or whatever...and that she was found innocent by the state department right?

If she IS innocent, then the FBI and the DOJ job is finished, but it's not, which means, she is in NO WAY innocent of anything as of yet, because there is an impending investigation going on.

I'm not saying what she did was right or honest...but the claims made by the right were pretty slanderous.

But this investigation has NOTHING to do with the right. It has everything to do with the DOJ and the FBI.

Simply put, Team Red hates Team Blue, Blue hates Red. Both sides will never amount to anything as long as their heads are so far up their own collective rear that they can't look at issues for what they are without always having to go full "US vs. THEM".

Sadly, this is true. But both sides have their faults, the problem is, my problem is that Dems look at themselves as the party of perfection of holiness and that is a total lie and facade that needs to be corrected.

A more definitive expression of racial prejudice is hard to find. It is good that this level of bigotry is tolerated because it defines an entire political party, the GOP-Tea. Well done.

Ahh, so you mean, speaking the truth is less important than being PC?

If anyone thought Bubbles Bush had a problem with his "anchor baby" issue at leaste the reader finds out why this kind of systemic prejudice is drawn to the GOP-Tea.

Bush is NOT president now. Stop going back into the time machine.

Just stunning and at the same time enlightening of the depth of racial hatred that supported the 'Birthers' and the tacit approval of racism within the GOP-Tea.

Are Cruz, Carson, Rubio and Jindal racists as well?

What we read isn't a qualitative statement but a pure distillation of prejudice.

But Dems holding down Blacks and Hispanics with more entitlements and government dependency, that's that racist or has subliminal prejudice undertones?

No amount of counter argument to the GOP-Tea can more fully illustrate their primitive mind set. Congratulations. You have held up the mirror and it is the GOP-Tea we see.

And the Dems are leading the way, they are, after all, the best role model for having a primitive mindset.

"what's worse is that the first African American president had to mess it up for all Blacks" - comments

While the article shows the quicksand of the Bubbles Bush blunder with babies, some have still found opportunity to steer their ideas into the racism they harbor and project on every event.

Again, the mirror these ideas reflect in is one of their own making.

It is emblematic of the GOP-Tea that Bubbles Bush, Trump and commenter defenders are unified in a constant drum beat of prejudice.

That they don't see or hear their own prejudice is the core of their malignant malevolence.

This then is the depth of their reason. They live so convinced of their racial hatred that every passing cloud in the sky reminds them of some injustice undone to those who have so little and suffer far more than they ever will.

For these bitter misanthropes they write of their hatred, endless cut and paste mouthings, as a badge of courage and it is read with great pity as their feigned religion cannot educate them and proves another falsehood to further harm innocent people under their banner of a profane certainty.

It is good they can be seen for what they are, for what they are is contained in their every utterance. Chilling.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Oh, I forgot. You told us that evidence isn't important. Silly me. Keep the crackpot theories rolling.

No, it just depends on what it is. In the case of immigration, it's very important. Nice try.

'Jeb may be better going down this route now. His complete cock-up on this issue has made him look incompetent. The types who enjoy the Al Qaida fairytales don't know or care what that word means. They like 'strong'.

Oh, Bass. You were doing so well. You'd read the post and understood it to a point but I suppose it was a bit long.

No, the problem was, it was devoid of any pertinent information, that's all.

I was talking about Al Qaida in Mexico. Keep practicing your reading. I thumbed you up for improvement and effort.

Since you are usually always missing the point, I just dismissed that Al Qaida talking point, sorry.

While the article shows the quicksand of the Bubbles Bush blunder with babies, some have still found opportunity to steer their ideas into the racism they harbor and project on every event.

So now it's the conservatives that are deflecting?? ROFL I'm having a ball today! You libs are such a joy!

It is emblematic of the GOP-Tea that Bubbles Bush, Trump and commenter defenders are unified in a constant drum beat of prejudice.

So how about Carson, Cruz, Rubio and Jindal? Are they racists as well or is it different for them because they are not White?

That they don't see or hear their own prejudice is the core of their malignant malevolence.

Where is your proof? Carson, Cruz, Rubio and Jundal support the same immigration policies.

This then is the depth of their reason. They live so convinced of their racial hatred that every passing cloud in the sky reminds them of some injustice undone to those who have so little and suffer far more than they ever will.

So you want to essentially say, if you are White and conservative, you have to be a racist, if you are not White but support conservative value and causes, you get a pass.

For these bitter misanthropes they write of their hatred, endless cut and paste mouthings, as a badge of courage and it is read with great pity as their feigned religion cannot educate them and proves another falsehood to further harm innocent people under their banner of a profane certainty.

And liberals don't do that as well? LOL

It is good they can be seen for what they are, for what they are is contained in their every utterance. Chilling.

Chilling that their voices are getting louder and Trump is having more and more people running to his side. People have had enough of the last 7 years of failed Obama economical and social problems. What's not chilling, but rather refreshing is that Obama will be out of our lives in 440 days. Can't wait for the party to start.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

'Oh, I forgot. You told us that evidence isn't important. Silly me. Keep the crackpot theories rolling.

No, it just depends on what it is. In the case of immigration, it's very important. Nice try.'

For crying out loud. What does that mean? is evidence important or not? In the case of immigration is evidence important or not important? Are crackpot theories with no evidence acceptable in the case of immigration?

There are nutty conservatives out there floating ideas about immigration with absolutely no evidence to back up their wild claims. Is it okay for conservatives or liberals or anyone else to do this in your opinion? I think it's irresponsible and stupid no matter who does it.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

This is like reading a comedy sketch... on the one hand you have the teeth-gnashing, frothing right wingers wrapping themselves up in their flag and decrying anything even remotely centrist, let alone slight left leaning... on the other side you have people with common sense ideas being pilloried by the afore-mentioned flag-wavers.

America's immigration problems are NOTHING compared to what's happening in Europe... countries a fraction the size of America being inundated by refugees and economic immigrants.

Oh and Bass, old fruit...

LOL, I did!! Sorry, my bad. I'm driving and it's bad manners to drive and text. I meant "worst" but thanks for pointing that out.

Bad manners? In my country you'd lose your licence and get either a MASSIVE fine or locked up for a period.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Whatever your position on "anchor babies" (and I do agree that it is a legitimate topic of debate, though very complex), it is hard to deny that Jeb has flubbed this about as massively as possible.

Those Jeb need to attract now have zero interest in Chinese "anchor babies" - most probably don't even know they exist. They're panic-stricken about the brown man from the south, and Jeb claiming that this is not a problem will simply infuriate them.

At the same time, Jeb's pissed off another growing constituency - Asians - many of whom would naturally gravitate to the GOP.

Finally, his ineptness gives his enemies a field day.

Again, the topic deserves serious consideration, but Jeb should know better that a primary campaign is not the time or place to do so - particularly a GOP primary, in which, like religious dogma, the answers are set in stone ("brown man bad"), with only the route to those answers negotiable. Silly man.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@bass: not sure what legal system you are familiar with. In the good ol USA you are innocent until proven guilty.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

For crying out loud. What does that mean? is evidence important or not?

You mean it's vague? Why are you libs complaining when you speak in vague terms constantly? You guys do it, it's acceptable, when a conservative does it, you guys whine? As I said, it all depends.

In the case of immigration is evidence important or not important? Are crackpot theories with no evidence acceptable in the case of immigration?

Dpends on your personal opinion of what a crackpot is.

There are nutty conservatives out there floating ideas about immigration with absolutely no evidence to back up their wild claims.

How do you know? So now your on the intelligence committee?

Is it okay for conservatives or liberals or anyone else to do this in your opinion? I think it's irresponsible and stupid no matter who does it.

True, but we don't know what exact information they have or have not to back that assertion up.

not sure what legal system you are familiar with. In the good ol USA you are innocent until proven guilty.

But the law is the law and if the law is violated, the person(s) should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of what the law is.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Wow, Bass. You're entire position is predicated on, "Well, all these portents of doom and gloom COULD be true. We just don't know."

It's absurd.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I'm just not going to say the allegations are false or contrived, I just won't do that. I think a benefit of a doubt should be given, since we DO have a border that is just as open as Grand Canyon! Anyone can get in and ANY terrorist knows that the easiest way to get into the states is through our open borders with Mexico and that is unacceptable! So as I said, I'm not on the Intel commitee and I don't know what they know or have. But I won't discount the fact.

'For crying out loud. What does that mean? is evidence important or not?

You mean it's vague? Why are you libs complaining when you speak in vague terms constantly? You guys do it, it's acceptable, when a conservative does it, you guys whine? As I said, it all depends.'

It wasn't vague. It was completely incomprehensible.

As a successful, highly-literate journalist with a crystal-clear prose style, your dismissal of the need for evidence is extremely disturbing.

Weren't the ancestors of present day Americans all "illegal aliens" ?

Native Americans all came from somewhere else too...

The quote on the Statue of Liberty does not mean for anyone and everyone to come, pay no taxes but send their kids to school and use the emergency rooms as their primary care physician substitute. The masses are supposed to come and do the paperwork and become citizens.

Mainland Chinese women are transforming California as People Republic of China. Latino immigrants are transforming Florida as United States of Hispanic. Due to high volume of birth rates, migrants are gradually becoming Majority. Newest friend Cuba wanted to join Babies competition too.

According Chuck Norris old movie, it is the Invasion of USA.

As a politician, Jeb Bush will protect the interest of baby manufacturers who are lobbyists. Even Donald Trump will change his tone if he has been elected. No matter Liberal or Conservative president win, U.S.A will enjoy babies boom due to birth rights. After many decades, demographic factor will be changed a lot. U.S.A born new generation will become minority.

I wonder what the Native Americans would have to say about this.

@Bass: I agree; if she is found guilty then by all means lock her up. Until then, like every other America, she deserves due process and not people yelling like idiots about how guilty she is.

But, as you said, the law is the law and IF she is found guilty right? Yet only a few posts up you were ranting about her being factually guilty.

It doesn't matter if she has a file labeled "1 to 1 correspondence with ISIS" ... until it's all checked and rechecked, she's innocent.

American law is the same for everyone, even babies fresh outta the womb.

"All these pundits seem to forget how America came to be in the first place."

And a lot of people seem to forget how America came to have over $17 trillion in debt. ( can't blame more than a small portion of that on Iraq and Afghanistan ).

Because YOU say so?

As a successful, highly-literate journalist with a crystal-clear prose style,

Thank you for the praise!

your dismissal of the need for evidence is extremely disturbing.

I hear that a lot when people disagree with possible facts. Goes with the territory.

The suicide rate will double if the GOP gets into the White House. You can't deny the possibility of that fact.

Like yours did?

I think not.

Can't get worse than what it is now under this Charlatan!

Oh it can be worse, bass. A thousand times worse!

Ok, your turn.

Let's see Chinese economy drop further and those with dual-citizenship can move to the states. Could be a problem if the number is big enough.

I'm pretty sure China doesn't allow dual citizenship. And it's not like these....uhm....Americans are going to move from a slowing economy to a booming economy either.

And a lot of people seem to forget how America came to have over $17 trillion in debt. ( can't blame more than a small portion of that on Iraq and Afghanistan ).

And how does this relate to citizenship issues?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Oh it can be worse, bass. A thousand times worse!

No, we completely hit rock bottom. illegal immigration out of control, terrorism, 45 million on food stamps for 31 months, stagnant wages, Blacks with the highest unemployment record since LBJ, unemployment and welfare benefits up, Foreign policy a complete joke, public schools a joke, people having more difficulties paying their premiums and it's going to get worse once the Cadillac tax kicks in next year. Fannie Mae & Freddy Mac are at it once again writing loans that people once again can't pay.

Yeah, actually, you are right, I apologize, we still have 439 more days to go with this joker, things could turn a thousand times worse and I believe so

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

No, we completely hit rock bottom.

Not even close to rock bottom, there is a hell of a lot more that potentially can happen before rock bottom is truly hit.

Consider race riots, not a far fetched idea considering the state of the police and many metropolitan areas, a major war, markets crashing, a natural disaster or two tossed in, along with a continuing breakdown in infrastructure, the potential for a comedian president, and that isnt worst case either. All of those could very easily happen with the state of affairs in the country right now.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Like yours did? I think not.

Really? You are saying my family snuck into the US and not through processing ports like Ellis Island and Boston? Are you basing this opinion on what your own family did, of vapid Facebook memes?

The fact that the process of citizenship has changed from when everyone coming through Ellis Island (except for those with tuberculosis, insanity and other conditions that made them ineligible) was given citizenship to today's process that takes years of paperwork and a lawyer, does not negate the fact that every person who followed the legal procedures of their time once the sovereign nation of the United States of America was formed was a legal citizen of the US.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Nah, not rock bottom. Could be a lot worse and that's a definite possible fact.

Besides....record corporate profits, record corporate cash, skyrocketing worker productivity with stagnant wages, unlimited campaign spending, job creators taking all the new income.

When will this socialist nightmare end?

Im saying that the masses of "illegal aliens" are supposed to come here anyway they can to build American homes, feed American faces, and wash American toilets.

I'm saying they are part of the American economy, and I'm saying they deserve --they have earned -- the right to be part of American society.

Not like you or me. Who just happened to be born here.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Birthright citizenship is a really interesting topic. I only learned about birthright citizenship about 7-8 years ago when a Japanese colleague told me that if she were to give birth to her child in the U.S, that child would be automatically granted citizenship. This of course led to the discussion of anchor babies and abuse of the law. She then asked me if this law was the same in my country, New Zealand. She was pretty shocked to learn that birthright citizenship isn't granted in NZ ( the law was changed in 2006 so that one of the child's parents has to be a NZ citizen or permanent resident. ). I thought this was funny as there's no way in hell Japan will ever grant citizenship just for being born here.

I think birthright citizenship shouldn't really be allowed without one of the parents being a resident or citizen of that country. I'm sure that before air travel it wasn't too much of a problem, but these days you can be anywhere in the world in less than 24 hours. It's an easy system to abuse in this day and age.

Black Sabbath, would you sneak into another country, live there without paying taxes, then pat yourself on the back for deserving to be there more than those born there? Your logic doesn't make sense.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Weren't the ancestors of present day Americans all "illegal aliens" ?

Sure as everyone else in the world, but now as an established nation with laws, and jurisdictions, you have to follow the laws of the country that you reside in. People that come in illegally and undocumented are "illegal aliens."

Well at least they're not trying to put the "very first illegal aliens" into "reservations"...

You also can't deny the possibility that the suicide rate will halve if the GOP gets into the White House, Super.

Either scenario is pretty unlikely...

They pay taxes. Every time they by something, they pay taxes.

Let me be blunt: You chosen to live and raise a family in Japan. You chosen to leave America and live your life in another country.

"Illegal" immigrants have chosen to come to America and live their lives. We need them. That is why they come. There are jobs here for them. That is why they come. They are working to better themselves in America, and therby make our country a better place. A more perfect union.

But you, who have chosen to live your life in another country, want to keep them out.

They are more American than you. You happened to be born here. You've left here.

You want your cake and eat it.

Shameful.
