Will he criticize him in other countries? heh

I have to admit that this sounds like the most intelligent thing I have ever heard Bush say. After all, Obama now has the whole government archive to use against Bush & there really must be a lot more in there than we ever got to hear about. Bush sticking pins in Obama today would a very dangerous thing to do.
some14some
that will surpass "The Ten Commandments"....!

Headline makes it sound like Obama is also defacto leader of Canada...

This is no different then Clinton did for bush when he was elected. Clinton talked good or neutral about bush at every venue as I recall. Even bush's first talk of war didn't get Clinton to talk down bush.
Finally bush does something right. < :-)

“I’m going to put people in my place, so when the history of this administration is written at least there’s an authoritarian voice saying exactly what happened,” Bush said.
That authoritarian voice will still say Bush screwed up and left the world with a global recession that started in his country under his watch.

Bush, in Canada...
Can they keep him there?

Bush isn't too popular in Canada, he probably risked having a touque thrown at him if he criticised Obama.
Seriously though, he's shown a lot of class after everything Obama threw at him during the election campaign.

“I love my country a lot more than I love politics,” Bush said. “I think it is essential that he be helped in office.”"
thats a damn good piece. Why are you all griping?

How foolish do Canadian progressives feel? - having constantly repeated Bush would make America a police state and seize all political power after he could steal all a da oil from Iraq...
ForeignKiri
Wow did he actually say something purely out of somewhere far beyong his own selfish motives... Hand clap for Bush.

Presidents do not disrespect Presidents. That is a sign of class from President Bush. Too bad Chenney has no class.
IvanCoughalot
Just because he failed, doesn't mean he didn't try.

cheney ... ha ha ha. the man is a "never-was", not even good enough to be a "has-been". he should try to attract as little attention to himself as possible.

Because he was never president.

That is the first intelligent comment i hear bush say in a loooong time

Ah Curious George, I never thought you had it in you. Good to see that you have learnt how to act as an ex-President. I know it must be hard sitting back and watching somebody who knows what they are doing occupy the Whitehouse. Perhaps those pointers from your dad finally sunk in to that peanut-sized brain of yours. At the same time, if you could have a chat with your former Vice President that would be really good. Please call him anytime during the day (Dubai time).

Funny, how Bush has taken the high road and not jumping on the band wagon of berating Obama, and many here still feel the need to deride him. Just like Oberlman on CNBC, he still ends his program with the slam at Bush saying mission accomplished. Here's a memo: Bush is not President. Hold Obama to the same standards of ridicule that was held to Bush. Yeah Bush screwed up, but he did do some good things. I am sure the mistakes Obama has made will get the same amount of bad press as Bush, but I guess that will not happen. One thing I have noticed, both extremist on either side (conservative or liberal) hate to admit when they are wrong. Especially with the media, since they were all in the tank for Obama during the election, and now that he is not doing as well as they thought, they hate to admit their error.

I think former Presidents have a policy where they don't criticize the current President. Bush is just following history. Carter was an exception, tho.
TexasAggie
Perhaps Bush believes in the old saying we have here in Texas: "Give a man enough rope and he'll hang himself."
Blue_Tiger
Just another glaring piece of evidence of the class that the 43rd President of the USA has. I miss you already, Mr. President.
adayream - Clinton most certanly did criticize President Bush:
In 2007 over the Scooter Libby Commution of Sentence...
In 2003 over the Bush Tax Cuts...
In 2005 over the Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort....
In 2007 again for 'failing' in Iraq...
And in 2003 in Australia for going into Iraq...

"Rush Limbaugh has said he hoped Obama would fail."
This is misleading. Just from this statement one would naturally think Limbaugh wants the economy to tank, which is not true. He wants President Obama's efforts to socialize the country to fail.
"Bush received two standing ovations"
This must have some people shaking their silly heads.
"Some protesters threw shoes at an effigy of Bush"
Afterwards they smoked pot and sang "Give Peace a Chance."

Sage advice that a few people here should listen to. A united country will always do better than a country that is pulling itself in two. Never thought I'd say this, but well said, George.
adaydream
Blue Tiger - When george bush put together his lies and packed his facts with made up assertions about Iraq Bill Clinton was very political and was supportive even though he knew the lies that were put together. I more than once wanted to puke at Clinton's support of bush or at least his words of support.
But since you're so sure, I'd like to see your links that support this. < :-)

"A united country will always do better than a country that is pulling itself in two"
Unless the president is moving the country in the wrong direction, in which case a strong opposition is good. Anyways, we've been pretty much divided 50-50 between Democrats and Republicans for decades, and we've done pretty well. In spite of the current downturn, America has been and will continue to be, at least for the forseeable future, the economic engine of the world.

"I more than once wanted to puke at Clinton's support of bush"
Heh.

Good on President Bush. Shame Dick Cheney (so aptly named) can't take a more constructive approach too.
PaulieWalnuts
you might have to explain that one to Sarge
bebert
More proof that Bush is not a conservative. Just another dime variety, Ivy League Zionist.
Sarge
"Shame ( on ) Dick Cheney ( so aptly named )"
So childish.
PaulieWalnuts
err, no. just a few days someone did have to explain it to you, no?
