GOP - their own worst enemy.

"GOP - their own worst enemy."

So true, but it also seems to be true lately for the democrats.

What was she lobbying for, increased spanking?

GOP -- Grand Old hyPocrites

I don't care about this cat's hypocrisy or what he does in his personal life, but why is he so stupidly indiscreet to talk like this during a legislative session with cameras on?

He should have quit if only for being so dumb.

Yes yes yes, Republican family values are alive and doing just fine I see....LOL

These guys really do live in a bubble...

having sex with a female lobbyist and another woman.

I should have gone into politics. :-)

GOP: Got Zero Plan. Another republican dude let his dick control his brain.

It is funny how the media is so desperate to cover any Republican lawmaker in a sex scandal that they are down to covering the sordid details of an unknown State assemblyman.

Americans tend to be a redemption bunch, but what they don't like are hypocrites. It's one thing to make a mistake, but another to make a mistake that one is advocating against. Family value mistakes affect Republicans more since they're supposed to be the family values party.

Nevertheless, the comments are so deliciously intriguing and salacious ("18 years younger," "spanking," "hot," etc); that's why it's getting some air time. Nobody would air this if it was just about some old bag.

People having love-affairs is an age-old practice, and sadly will never change. I don't consider it to really be all that scandalous. BUT if you're preaching family values (like Ensign) while turning around and doing the opposite by way of action, then the scandal is warranted. And of course, being so stupid as to brag about it at work when there are mics on.... well... that warrants it to rub in the obvious stupidity alone.

"“I am deeply saddened that my inappropriate comments have become a major distraction for my colleagues in the Assembly..."

But not saddened at all about what the words, or the acts themselves, have done to your family? Can't even apologize for the love affairs themselves?

"Duvall received a 100 percent rating from Capitol Resource Institute, a conservative advocacy group, for his votes on legislation considered pro-family during the 2007-08 legislative session."

Perhaps this institute needs to screen a little better.

Anyway, yet ANOTHER GOP 'family oriented' person proving they are nothing but hypocrites. A long, long list, and some very fun reads about said list on the internet.

I am deeply saddened that my inappropriate comments have become a major distraction for my colleagues in the Assembly...

Never mind that he made the comments to a colleague in the Assembly.

He tells the other lawmaker, whose identity was not immediately clear, that the woman’s birthday was two days before the committee hearing.

Oh, come on, tell us the name of the colleague who seemed amused at all this sleazy talk.

I almost feel sorry for Repubs, but I agree with the Alinsky-ite tactic of holding the enemy to their own (basically higher, i have to admit ) standards. When Mayor Kwame Patrick or Sen. John Edwards or Pres. Clinton goes extramarital the establishment media is loathe to report it.

But hey,at least this time I guess congrats of a sort are in order.Unlike the Foley scandal or the toe tapping Sen. Craig, sex actually took place!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

while some of you feel like venting anger, I'm disgusted thinking of this getting down and dirty.. sends shivers up my spine.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

seijichuu: "...or Pres. Clinton goes extramarital the establishment media is loathe to report it."

Excuse me? It was world-wide news in no time at all. So much for THAT argument.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

seijichuudo: " When Mayor Kwame Patrick or Sen. John Edwards or Pres. Clinton goes extramarital the establishment media is loathe to report it."

Sorry... I just can't stop laughing at this one. It's so utterly wrong that I feel compelled to remind you that even when Ensign was caught cheating and lying (and flying to ARGENTINA for his affair), all he could do to the media was talk about how much worse Clinton was.

You got your facts mixed up there Smith. No surprise really. The media is the same as always. A Republican says or does something stupid, something that proves him a hypocrite, and it doesn't matter that he's as someone else said, some unknown assemblyman from California. He has that R by his name, and thats all that matters. National no international headlines. Another Republican is a hypocrite. Of course no Dem would ever do something like this. No Dem who ever lived was every a hypocrite. Oh wait, scratch that, every Dem that ever lived is a hypocrite. Hence the lack of reporting on Democratic foibles. Like when the speaker of the house called half the country Nazis, and only Foxnews bothered to cover it. lol. Guess somehow that makes this even more amusing.

The other man asks if she likes it, too. Duvall responds: “She goes, ‘I know you like spanking me.’ I said, ‘Yeah, that’s ‘cause you’re such a bad girl.’”

In fairness to the assemblyman, it has not been esetablished that she's not a bad girl.

Molenir: "You got your facts mixed up there Smith. No surprise really."

Oh, I see. So the media didn't report no President Clinton's affair. Right... got it... and, who are the hypocrites again, Molenir? :)

"Oh wait, scratch that, every Dem that ever lived is a hypocrite."

Bye bye, credibility! Errr... in your case, bye bye remaining OUNCE of credibility.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Molenir: What's more is that you really don't even comment on the thread -- you and your ilk are too busy saying that Dems are somehow hypocrites (for the media not reporting on them, too!):

"Oh wait, scratch that, every Dem that ever lived is a hypocrite. Hence the lack of reporting on Democratic foibles."

Hmmm... they are all hypocrites, so they are not reported on. A shining example of how come people cannot link one thing to another.

Anyway, back to the article? which is a member of the GOP cheating on his wife and family while pretending to believe in family values, and getting caught bragging about it at ASSEMBLY! or would you still like to continue whining about Democrats being hypocrites because the media won't report their 'foibles'? :)

I say as I said before; the fact that this man had an affair is not the big deal. What IS is that he was blatently pushing family values and was selected by the aforementioned institute as being a firm believer in it, etc. and then he proves he is in fact 180 degrees in practice of what he was busy preaching.

Nessie: "In fairness to the assemblyman, it has not been esetablished that she's not a bad girl."

True... and now that the man has to head home in disgrace to his family, maybe he'll get the spankings for being the bad boy. I just hope his wife doesn't dull it down and goes whole hog (at least verbally).

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Oops! "A shining example of how SOME people cannot link one thing to another." (not 'how come')

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Smith, as I said, you got your facts wrong. It wasn't Ensign who flew to Argentina for his affair. It was Sanford. And I believe I stated clearly that the Republican in question was obviously a hypocrite. That you can't concede there are equal numbers of Dems who are hypocrites merely serves to undercut your own position, which seems to be, that every Republican is a hypocrite for believing as they do. You then point to the examples of this as proof. I could do the same with Dems. Clinton who slept with his intern, Jefferson who accepted Bribes, the various California Dems who are even still under ethics violations, or how bout the MacDaddy, Charlie Rangel. Need I go on. However you rarely hear about these things. Yet if a Republican does something, it immediately becomes international news. Please note the obvious disparity here. I know I certainly have.

Molenir: You took a post in which I was pointing out seijichuu's obviously poor comment that the media never reports of Democrats who cheat with example to Bill Clinton, and made the blanket remark that 'I had the factS wrong'. True, and I will concede, that I had Sanford's cheating/love affair confused with Ensign's cheating/love affair when tying it (or them, I guess) into this man's love affair, so for that I apologize. My point still stands that you guys (and yes, YOU included based on your comment previous to last), saying that the Dems are never covered in the media for scandals and that only Republicans are picked on is grossly inaccurate (your bizarre 'connections' to media blame and hypocrisy aside).

"That you can't concede there are equal numbers of Dems who are hypocrites merely serves to undercut your own position, which seems to be, that every Republican is a hypocrite for believing as they do."

Where have I EVER said that every Republican is a hypocrite for believing as they do? This is more of the lame assertions that render all your comments devoid of credibility.

"Clinton who slept with his intern.... However you rarely hear about these things."

There you go again! You RARELY hear about Clinton???? And here you are STILL bringing it up and, get this, as a defense that Democrats who cheat and are hypocrites or what have you are never brought into the media spotlight!! It's simply amazing!

"Yet if a Republican does something, it immediately becomes international news. Please note the obvious disparity here. I know I certainly have."

Nah, what you've done is, once again, prove what you are receptive and get upset about vs. what you try to use as fodder for your own cause. This man cheated -- no big deal -- but he did so while at the same time expressing his belief in family values, and it was what he said more than what he did (which was recorded) that is getting all the attention. You simply don't like that, it makes you upset, and as usual are deflecting. It's quite funny to watch you struggle to misdirect frustration with comments akin to, "If he had a little D- beside his name this wouldn't be news" when it most certainly WOULD be (but I'll point out the fact is it's not a Dem, just to watch you explode). Again, it's the COMMENTS THE MAN MADE, ON TAPE that are getting him the attention, not the fact that he's Republican. That does not come first.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

True... and now that the man has to head home in disgrace to his family, maybe he'll get the spankings for being the bad boy

It could be a win-win. Or a win-win-win.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"so for that I apologize."

Oh god, why is it so hard for people to say sorry? Why do they have to be cheap and say I apologize.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Another pious cheating republican who is pro-family in the Assembly and pro-spanking in the hotel. Wow, do you have to be morally corrupt to be a republican now?

Wow, the best you can say is at least he was not in the men's room tapping away like Craig or chasing young boys like Foley. And the girl was not an intern this time, just a paid prostitute by those great moral guys from big oil and coal.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Actually, what's more serious is that both mistresses were lobbyists. So not only the lawmaker breaking his family values to his family but also doing it through lobby quid pro quo.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I don't disagree that the guy here is a hypocrite. However the attitude in this thread seems to be, oh look, another hypocrite Republican. Yep, they're all hypocrites. Don't deny this Smith, read back over the thread yourself. You'll see precisely what I mean. My response is simply, that Dems are equally hypocrites. And that the media doesn't cover it. Oh sure, they covered Clinton. He was the President of the United States, and catching the man in such a bald faced lie, they had no choice. But otherwise, its nearly always, and immediately dropped. Contrasted with Republicans, Sanford still in the news months later. Ensign his affair still referred to. Need I go on? The double standard is beyond obvious.

Moderator: Stay on topic please.

Molenir,

the rightwing controls the media as its basically corporate controlled. Fox, WSJ, Clear Channel, GE, Disney all of them align on the right. Wingers love to try to be pitied but on this point they are totally wrong. Demos, such as Edwards for example, were blasted when they got caught.

Your fantasy of a liberal media is about 50 years beyond its expiration date. But it hard to let a way to play the victim go easily, right?

And no amount of crying on your part will cover the lies that this republican made to his family and his district. It is more of the same from the deeply morally corrupt republicans. He brags about cheating on a live mike! Perfect.

lol, Zurc, you're only showing your own bias. The vast majority of journos freely admit they're biased towards Obama. NBC News did an informercial for him, and his health care plan. They used to be a news organization, now they're merely shills for the white house. Read and compare the various news websites. Only Foxnews normally has anything negative to say about this President. The others will mention it if he makes some huge blunder, but all the news today as been about this idiot congressman who mouthed off, not the lies Obama spewed in his speech.

Although one thing at least was true. He did claim there was a lot of untruths being bandied about. Of course he neglected to mention the fact that most of them are coming from him, and those like him in his party. Theres a reason hes having so much trouble getting this through, despite complete control of congress. Even the Pols on the left realize that if they ram this down the throats of the American people, they will lose their jobs. Obama too knows that the only way he can get this passed, is if the American people are deluded. If they can be convinced they're getting something other then what they're being sold. The ol bait and switch technique. Its worked for con men for years, the Dems are trying it now. Claim one thing, deliver another.

Molenir: "My response is simply, that Dems are equally hypocrites. And that the media doesn't cover it."

You have a serious denial problem, my friend. Go back to last month's media coverage and see heaps on Edward's affair. You'll see more than 100 posts on the JT article alone, with most calling him the scumbag he is for it (and bilking sympathy for his wife's breast cancer as he lied!!). Bottom lied, both are covered, so cut the 'we are victim's' crap in trying to defend cheaters and hypocrites. It's nearly as disgusting as the act.

"Ensign his affair still referred to. Need I go on? The double standard is beyond obvious."

Dude, NO affair is more covered world-wide than Bill Clinton's, be he freeing American hostages, or when his wife is doing something on behalf of the nation. Bottom line.

This man's hypocrisy and what he said are getting him the media attention he's getting. Stop saying he's being victimized by a media that doesn't cover Democrats when it clearly does.

As I mentioned before, Republicans tend to get hit doubly hard with this type of scandals than Democrats because Republicans paint themselves as the family-values party. (Not to say that the Democratic Party doesn't try to do the same, but the perception is in the side of the Republicans.) From Evangelists to traditional relationships to the Bible Belt.

Also, news channels are becoming more entertainment than news nowadays. MSNBC is a shill to the current admin, as Fox was a shill to the previous admin. Just mind the bias when encountering any news and you should be fine. Or stick to PBS.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Or stick to PBS.

Heh, PBS is easily one of the most biased networks around.

Molenir,

Your people's money pays for it; surely if it reflects anything, it's your people's influence, right?
