A fine place that looked so much better after living in Texas. Many Californians told me not to judge the US my experience in Texas but I made a promise to a dear friend in Dallas that I'd always point out there are decent, civilized and thoughtful people there.

I remember the days of "California Emissions" - which were different from everywhere else. People moving to and from CA usually sold their cars. It was a hassle.

But, Californians seem to have different priorities than most other states - gotta love them for that. I'm a "states rights" guy and think the Feds should leave them alone to do this. The citizens want it. They are willing to take the hit. And it could be good for everyone in the world and the rest of America too.

only need to drive 20,000 miles or so before you've saved youself the extra purchasing cost through lower fuel costs. we've saved millions of yen by running our car on WVO. a bit different but a little forward thinking can pay genuine dividends. And less prone to the oil shocks coming in our future....

My state currently produces about half of all the solar power for the entire USA, and over 80% of all the geothermal energy for the nation. Without California and the other Blue states, the USA would be a third world country.

The CARB standards in California have been in place for a very long time = Nothing political about it. Having said that California also runs some of the oldest cars on the road = cars last a very long time there. Their school buses are sometimes from the 1950's - 1960's -and yes they still run them (diesel = with probably some added sulfur for lubrication = diesel is mostly ULSD now and many of the older Diesel engines need that sulfur (or additive).

As a trend California is moving to electric cars rather quickly and solar power as said before.

As a funny note: You can run your polluter truck in California just fine, but over the border and back into California you may be refused entry. Had a big issue with this especially with the port (intermodal) truckers and California wanting to "clean-up" this fleet.

What I can't get over is how Trump and his goonies believe that lowering the standards on fuel efficiency here is somehow going to make 'Murican cars popular overseas where the standards of fuel efficiency are going to be higher regardless. Which would encourage those countries not to buy 'Murican garbage, but stick with their higher fuel efficient vehicles.

So far the only American cars I'm willing to look at is Tesla and the Chevy BOLT. Tesla is already highly regarded across the world and has a backlog of orders. Chevrolet has the chance to compete with Tesla on a higher scale by making more models available since they've been doing EV's for quite a while since their EV1.

Plus another thing I'd like to point out. Why reduce emission's standards when HYBRIDS are plausible? If you don't support and encourage technological advancement in the right areas, you lose innovative edge, and America falls behind and becomes less competitive on a global market.

All it takes is for some other country to invent something 'Murican's haven't that outclasses our current vehicles and our motor industry will suffer "Bigly". Except for the smart ones that should ignore Trumps dreams of the 70s & 80s. Tesla will be fine and Chevy could just start focusing more on improving the tech they have with EV's and hybrids.

There's a reason why millions of people are leaving that state. Amazing how a once prosperous state that had the 5th largest economy in the world turned out to be a liberal socialist entitlement free for all where the rich liberals get richer and the poorer get poorer.

Don't get me wrong, I love clean energy and I love cars even more, I support every effort to advance the progress of electrical vehicles, as long as it's done within the private sector, go for it!

That would be amazing! But it would be called something else. That would end the annoying problem of citizens naming themselves after a continent that already contains other nations.

Awesome stuff, although this doesn't affect polluters from out of state deliberately destroying the environment in Cali. The next step is to ban overpolluters from out of state, especially the rube states. Maybe a tax on their entry into Cali is called for as they bring anti-social behaviour and poor hygiene too that could affect the tourism industry
