Maybe he contracted it before he left for NZ or got it on the airplane!

Newsom DIDN’T GO to New Zealand.

Read the article.

California Gov Gavin Newsom tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, a day after a high-profile meeting with the visiting prime minister of New Zealand.

Not a coincidence Newsom contracted Covid in New Zealand, where infections are skyrocketing after easing restrictions.

As medical experts note, this never would have happened if NZ stayed with its zero covid policy.

That's the risk when any government officials travel around and are around many people while doing their business. That's why they need to get their shots.

And that shows that the vaccines work. Other US gov't officials tested positive, but they'll probably recover OK.

As long as they set a good example, the sooner we can whip this virus for good.

Read the article. Even if it’s just the first sentence.

Why do you think Newsom went to New Zealand?

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Hardly surprising because of the extremely high infectivity from the prevalent Omicron strain, making international travel without isolation all but ensures the risk of infection is much higher than regular people, fortunately vaccination and effective treatment is making the infection have a much lower risk for his health and no negative outcome is expected.

That is not what experts note, actually it is the opposite, a zero covid policy is not a guarantee of zero infections once omicron became prevalent, but replacing this outdates approach with vaccination and better treatments helps reducing the burden of the pandemic to the point where higher rates of infection no longer are correlated wtith hospitalizations and deaths (not to mention it improves access to health services and allows for the protection of the economy and access to health services, preventing even more deaths).

Unique "argument"--You're wrong, I'm right,

That does not apply when the reason why you are wrong are given, you have already commented in the article where the WHO, a scientific authority, qualified the zero covid policy as unsustainable, that means you are aware the experts disapprove of the policy.

How can a vaccinated person get the disease against which they are vaccinated?

That happens with all the previous diseases that have vaccines, none is 100% effective at preventing infection, not even symptoms, what they are particularly effective is to protect from complications and deaht.

For example the vaccine against Polio do not prevent infection or even a mild fever for people that are vaccinated. what it extremely rare is for them to develop full Poliomyelitis.

How can an unvaccinated person never get the disease I'm not vaccinated against? The greatest worldwide delusion since everyone believed it was flat.

No disease infects 100% of the people, and if someone is surrounded by vaccinated people he is being protected by the immunity of the people he is in contact with.

What evidence do you have that proves the experts of the world that coincide in saying vaccination importantly reduce the risk of infection, even more of symptoms becoming important, hospitalization becoming necessary or the patient dying?

Uh huh. Even after 2 vaccines and 2 boosters. Sounds like excuses to me. 4 times vaccinated are even getting it more than once?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Most vaccines don’t require a booster until years after the first shot. Tetanus for example. The booster is 10 years later. All the child vaccines require a booster only years later. This vaccine requires several boosters less than a year later. And then, you can still catch it. It makes absolutely zero sense.

You can then bring any examples that you know about vaccines that are 100% effective at preventing infection, realizing there is no example ever will let you understand it is reality, not excuses.

Also having many doses is not unusual either, inactivated polio vaccine also requires it, DTaP, Pneumococcus, Haemophilus vaccines also do, and they can't prevent infections to a 100%, the only reason you don't see those reported is because active transmission is now rare and almost universal immunity make asymptomatic cases not important enough to be investigated.

Yet I take aspirin once and I don’t have a headache anymore.

if I took it 4 times and still had headaches I think I would say aspirin doesn’t work.

Yet the experts of the world say the vaccines work very nicely preventing the most dangerous consequences of COVID, and they do recommend people take them, are they are all wrong according to you?

plus it seems so mild now that only attention seeking liberals even bother to “announce” they have it.

Yes, that is the effect of vaccination, help making an infection just a minor problem no longer becoming a significant risk of death.

meanwhile sure are lots of athletes having heart attacks and celebrities dying without a cause of death mentioned.

You mean approximately the same as every year according to the sports heath experts that are most interested in preserving their health? how come they say there is no special incidence the past few years?

This vaccine requires several boosters less than a year later. And then, you can still catch it. It makes absolutely zero sense.

So you are surprised first generation vaccines are not as effective as those that have been improved and optimized for generations? You are also going to be surprised to find out some vaccines require a lot more boosters for people that are exposed to risk, like rabies for veterinarians.

I don’t wear masks and I don’t vaccinate, but I do self quarantine, social distance and have had three tests. I’m fine.

Good luck to Newsom, never took them and never will.

The governor’s office said it does not know how Newsom contracted the virus. He is vaccinated and received his second booster shot this month.

4 shots, still COViD.

Maybe you should read my comment. Even if it's just the first sentence.

And you don't know about New Zealand's zero covid policy? It did not allow entry into the country.

So, if NZ still employed zero covid, that means Newsom wouldn't be able to enter NZ, and, yes, even you can see where this is going, he would not have contracted Covid there..

Maybe he contracted it before he left for NZ or got it on the airplane!
