You'd think we will believe you but you linked Newsmax like they are credible.

Imagine thinking a news organization would simply create a fake headline out of thin air.

I guess those horrible nazis at the NY Times are doing it too...

"We don't have air conditioning at our house, we only have a fan," Amaya, a retiree, told AFP.

The wealth gap at its worst, the fossil barons in the ruling caste will be able to afford to use as much energy as they want staying in their posh residences, while the rest of the population compete for space in cooling centers.

If capitalism, whether the so-called market variety, or the state variety, is so great, where are the alternatives for the general population to use to mitigate against extreme weather events, most of which are brought about by the ruling castes in the east and west?

Predatory capitalism has brought on these problems, and those that have profited most are unwilling to do much, if anything about them. While their followers cheer them on, even though many of the followers are suffering.

"In the end the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it. It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it ... And what was terrifying was not that they would kill you for thinking otherwise, but that they might be right. For, after all, how do we know that two and two make four? Or that the force of gravity works? Or that the past is unchangeable? If both the past and the external world exist only in the mind, and if the mind itself is controllable…what then?"

Wow, what a bunch of Einsteins. And that idea comes even very ‘quick’, already before end of summer, in early September, when it’s soon getting cooler anyway.

When my family was living in CA, we didn't have air conditioning (coolers) and when we had these intense heat waves, we'd go down the street to a Thrifty's and buy ice cream and hang out sitting on benches in the store.

All stores had (have) air conditioning. We'd also go to a movie, a department store, supermarket, book store, video shop, a shopping mall and so on and spend the hottest parts of the days there.

I'd recommend everyone, esp. the old folks to do this. These cooling centers are a good idea but there are many more options that many people think.

"We don't have air conditioning at our house, we only have a fan."

My mother's house is five kilometers from the sea. That used to be sufficient to obliviate the need for AC. Not anymore. I worry about my mother - she's quite rich but too fixed in her ways to have it installed.

Sometimes I feel guilty about being an expat and not there for her at times like this.

Every time we get a heatwave in SoCal, I am always reminded of the heatwaves of 84 and 85 when the Nightstalker Richard Ramirez was taking full advantage of people leaving their windows open to murder them. Those 2 years were scary as a kid.

Newsmax do. They make stuff up all the time. That’s why when they made up nonsense about Dominion and got sued they apologized live on air like the lying scumbags they are.

They’re not a news organization. They’re a propaganda outfit for MAGAts. Like OANN or Fox News.

"In the end the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it. I am once again asking people who quote 1984 to actually read the book. Especially people who swear by a news channel that has sworn fealty to and creates propaganda in service of a Strong Man leader who, in actuality, serves the establishment in power by showering them in tax cuts and attacking democracy.

Isn’t newsmax currently being sued by Dominion for a billion dollars for defamation?

Diesnt help their credibility out much.
