A heavily-armed suspected gang member

using his freedumb to buy private arsenals that rival those of the military and police has, like other gunbangers before him, once more increased the costs to the taxpaying public for public services, including police and other emergency responders, medical, and judicial, to look out for him.

The man was also armed with a handgun, and a shotgun and more ammunition

And the gun industries smile while counting the profits made selling to him, knowing that as a result of this gun battle even more guns and ammo will be sold to those already owning private arsenals.

But I have to think the 2nd Amendment zealots must also be smiling, thinking that it was OK because this man was just a part of an armed militia putting his life (and other's) on the line to overthrow the government.

How many hundreds of armed militias does the US have?

How can it be stopped?

Gun control. No more excuses - do it.

I think the better way would be to give them longer prison terms, hard labor, less privileges in prison. Taking away the guns is not the answer. MS-13 uses as one of their trademarks machetes. Either way, the gangs will go one killing and taking away guns won't stop it. Look at the prisons, someone is being murdered all the time with homemade shanks and it doesn't matter what precautions or preventative measures are taken, the body count is not stopping.

"an officer involved shooting" sounds like police terminology of some kind.

Characterizing a shootout between the police and a gang member as a terrorist attack only serves to diminish the meaning of the term. Manchester was a terrorist attack, a gangbanger committing suicide by cop is not.

Anyone who thinks that more gun control will put an end to gang activities has consumed way too much kool-aid.

Gang bangers and criminal organizations don't get guns the legal way. You can still have gun control and still have smugglers that can get everything else by either theft, or their own black market channels.   Getting access to a high powered  Ex-cons and convicts aren't supposed to have guns, but they try (and sometimes do) get them anyway.

It would be great to hear on the News where a gunman,s Gun blew up in his face

Now that would be a deterrent to use them
