Trump: Bring. It. On. If you thought the Freedom Caucus was intransigent over taxes, you've not seen anything yet. California will defend its environment to its last breath - it's in our genes. (Well, except for the inland minority such as those from Bakersfield and Fresno.)

Once more:

Thank God for California!

"Erasing climate change may take place in Donald Trump’s mind, but nowhere else"

Great quote. Is Trump still calling global warming a hoax concocted by the Chinese? Any serious human being, which Brown clearly is, must ignore the kind of ridiculous trash Trump has belched out on this topic. Anything less would surely be a dereliction of duty.

Here in Cali we have reduced the amount of our electricity coming from coal fired steam plants close to zero. We generate more than half of all of the nation's solar power, and we generate over 80% of the nation's geothermal power. Without California, the USA would be behind Japan in the total amount of green energy generated.

We have a GDP larger than Canada's, Australia's, or South Korea's, and since 1987 we have sent more in taxes to Washington than we have gotten back, to the tune of over half a trillion dollars. Oh, and in California, Hillary beat The Chump by a 2 to 1 margin, cause we don't vote for psychopathic con men here in the Golden State.

California should just do its own thing and ignore Trump. He will talk, sure, but not much else.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Or one of the most job-killing, depending on which way you look at it.

Exactly. That's why California's population is growing at such anemic rate, its average income lags behind the national average, it is losing its young, educated population, and its housing prices are imploding. The Kansas of the west coast. Terrible.

Can't forget the state is the 6th largest economy in the world. California and New York should join hands since Trump/Bannon seem to have personal vendetta against the 2 states. Perhaps start "Clean States Coalition" with other states that want to join them and share resources and knowledge to help environment within their states. Let other states that embrace dirty energy deal with it's constituents' health problems esp when GOP blows up healthcare/Medicare.

And when highway funding is withheld? Or military bases are up for closure? Or military contracts are sent to different states?

Two different points there, Fu. Cali receives less in benefits than it sends, so if Washington cuts back, Cali might look to send a bit less.

Military bases and contracts are how Cali squares the circle with our outstanding tax contributions. Think: Do you want to move Camp Pendleton to Kansas or Navy Base San Diego to New Orleans? The Cali economy would recover much more quickly than would the military.

Anyway, these have nothing to do with the environment except to show that Uncle Sam needs the Golden Bear much more than vice-versa.

@Northernlife - Actually the Toddler-in-Chief didn't lose everything. He won the election (with Russian help) ! ! ! Oh ! Sorry, he lost that too didn't he ? By more than 3M popular votes !

Rumpy is just trying to stop the future. Our house, the two on the sides of us, and two across the street have solar PV. It powers our house and automobile, for 15,000 miles last year.

California and the West can live very well without the rest of the nation, thanks.

Go get 'em Jerry !

Putin would love for California to leave the US, and cripple the other 49 states, Mister Cleff.

We pay much more into the feds than we get back, like other blue states who support the parasitic red ones. Did you know Louisiana gets 40% of its operating budget as welfare from the Blue States?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It's kind of sad that blue states with immigrants have to carry red states with Trump supporters.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I can't read your Forbes link since they won't show content if you have an adblocker, but the link reads, "Atlanta" so my guess is it doesn't match up with the point you are countering which is about red states and blue states. In that sense you're right, not even close.

And did you post something showing the number of blacks in prison vs. whites? No clue why your mind went there. We weren't talking about race at all, just how different areas do under different parties. And of course cities that have large numbers of minorities aren't going to vote Republican. They think you are racist.

The rest of your responses are mostly gibberish that don't match up with the points I made. You might be better off starting your own thread with that information.

As for every other statistic I listed, I suppose all of that stays in place. Looks like blue wins in a landslide. Red states are fatter, die earlier, suck more of my tax dollars, have dumber people, more in jail, and more pregnant teens. Other than that, the GOP kicks ass.

California needs to coe smog problem ow.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Every blue state urban city where minorities live, the crime rate is off the charts. Now that is sad.

Time to put this to rest as well.

https://theprogressivecynic.com/2014/08/15/red-america-vs-blue-america-state-maps-illustrate-the-difference/

Red/conservative states have higher crime, lower human development (health, education and income levels), tax contribution, higher poverty rates, lower economic mobility, lower levels of education, much lower life expectancy, higher rates of obesity, diabetes, stroke, and heart disease, higher teen birth rates, higher incarceration rates, you name it.

This might be part of the problem, the fake news being spread on behalf of conservatives: http://www.snopes.com/crime-rates-democrats-vote/. You've also been well trained to look at the entire comparison with just one variable: Chicago. It's the only piece of information I've ever heard a conservative use, and it's something the Right has pounded into the head of their followers such as yourself to distract them from aggregate data.

You're free to decide that you personally just don't believe the data if that helps you cope. Or, perhaps, just talk about something else.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Many of the Blue States have more more money, but the poverty and incarceration rate amount Blacks and Latinos is sky high, so while Whites in these Bluest of Blue States make the bucks, the minorities are still the bottom feeders. If you're White, I guess you can brag

So you're blaming blacks, not Democrats. I guess that settles it.

Still no response from you about the teen pregnancies, lack of education, and pretty much every specific example I listed. If the GOP is so good at governing you'd think that wouldn't be the case, yet here we are. Can you try convincing me again? :)

California should just do its own thing and ignore Trump. He will talk, sure, but not much else.

President Trump appears to be petty when someone doesn't do what he intends.

The tech industry in Cali isn't about manufacturing. It is about software and ideas. If they had to manufacture all that dangerous stuff there, with all the chemical processing necessary, things would be different. Hopefully, the companies would figure out a way to be more environmentally friendly, instead of just buying the stuff from places in the world with zero or less environmental rules.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Yeah and California will really be at a lost once them federal funds are withheld.

Oh, I know the wealthy Hollywood left and the geeks of silicon valley will be just fine, I was talking about the average Californian that do not have an inexhaustible supply of cash to sustain them and their social everyday lifestyle, so yes, they will be greatly hit hard by this

Go Trump! This just shows how much of how little of an idea you have.

Not his fault, but you don't comply, that's on the States legislative branch, but as a Californian, the representatives have always cared more about ideology than the people.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I can't read your Forbes link since they won't show content if you have an adblocker,

If you use Safari, disable the adblocker for that site.

but the link reads, "Atlanta" so my guess is it doesn't match up with the point you are countering which is about red states and blue states. In that sense you're right, not even close.

Many of the Blue States have more more money, but the poverty and incarceration rate amount Blacks and Latinos is sky high, so while Whites in these Bluest of Blue States make the bucks, the minorities are still the bottom feeders. If you're White, I guess you can brag, if you are a minority, I would be rather depressed. Liberal polices, yeah.

And did you post something showing the number of blacks in prison vs. whites? No clue why your mind went there. We weren't talking about race at all, just how different areas do under different parties. And of course cities that have large numbers of minorities aren't going to vote Republican. They think you are racist.

Oh, No, you don't! Race has a lot to do with it. The big cities where you have a lot of minorities vote overwhelmingly Liberal and how has that improved their lives in the Bluest of States? Oakland, Compton, Philly, DC, Chicago, Detroit, Brooklyn, so how are the Blacks doing in these cities? How's the Standard of living and the safety of these communities?

The rest of your responses are mostly gibberish that don't match up with the points I made. You might be better off starting your own thread with that information.

No, as usual, you guys on the left want to criticize the right and at the same time gloss over your shortcomings and the Democratic party has a lot of them.

As for every other statistic I listed, I suppose all of that stays in place. Looks like blue wins in a landslide.

If you are White, no doubt about it, I agree.

Red states are fatter, die earlier, suck more of my tax dollars, have dumber people,

And yet, Trump still won. ROFL

more in jail,

No, not if you are Black or Hispanic, generally speaking.

and more pregnant teens. Other than that, the GOP kicks ass.

And Blue States have more abortions, they have the money, they can afford it, but yeah, I think they do.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

The tech industry has been prosperous for California, no doubt about that, but concentrated benefits also make everything more expensive and gentrified to the point it becomes very difficult for the average person to make a reasonable living in the state.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Yeah, Democrats have done so well taking care of minorities. Every blue state urban city where minorities live, the crime rate is off the charts. Now that is sad.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

California, consumes more energy, and more taxpayer monies and tears of pity, than their worth.

And as the highest taxpaying state in the nation, by a long shot, they pay way more than they should to support the worthless flyover states that voted for Trump.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

@Super

You really dug deep at the bottom on the progressive cesspool this time. LOL

Red/conservative states have higher crime,

Not even close.

https://www.forbes.com/pictures/mlj45jggj/6-atlanta/#38ff9384f678

How many Whites live here? What have the Democrats done in 50 years to help these communities and these people are not Republicans. Sorry, Sup, but nice try.

http://www.sentencingproject.org/publications/color-of-justice-racial-and-ethnic-disparity-in-state-prisons/

http://www.worldatlas.com/articles/most-dangerous-cities-in-the-united-states.html

lower human development (health, education and income levels),

Again, we go back to the States that the liberals forgot, but then again that segment of America is not important and you guys wonder why you are in the minority of everything?

tax contribution, higher poverty rates, lower economic mobility,

No job, no taxes. Trump figured that out a long time ago, Dems didn't, they focused more on Alternative energy and H1B student visa programs, another reason for the defeat of Democrats.

lower levels of education,

Common Core is not a thing of the past, thank God.

much lower life expectancy, higher rates of obesity, diabetes, stroke, and heart disease, higher teen birth rates,

That part I can' t argue, different culture, different lifestyle.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

California, consumes more energy, and more taxpayer monies and tears of pity, than their worth.

Oh, without a doubt.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Putin would love for California

Why not? You have a ton of Russian mafia and Oligarchs up in West Hollywood, what's not to like?

to leave the US, and cripple the other 49 states, Mister Cleff.

Texas if moving up, economy growing, housing cheap, low taxes...

We pay much more into the feds than we get back, like other blue states who support the parasitic red ones.

Then there shouldn't be any problem, the sanctuary states don't have a thing to worry about. LOL

Did you know Louisiana gets 40% of its operating budget as welfare from the Blue States?

I did and keep them entitlements coming and we'll keep sending the oysters to you and when you come during Mardi gras, spend as much money as you can. And the beat goes on and the beat goes on.....

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

California should just do its own thing and ignore Trump. He will talk, sure, but not much else.

I agree, I wish they would break away from the US. Every liberal should relocate there. We leave them alone and they leave us alone. Good luck to them all.

Can't wait to see how this shapes up. Go Trump, we got your back!

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Trump will lose again in this one like he lost in everything so far it's just one disaster after another for Twatser Trump..

Yeah and California will really be at a lost once them federal funds are withheld. Go Trump!

California and the West can live very well without the rest of the nation, thanks.

Homie, I back you and long for the day California leaves the US, that would be a better present than a pint of a nice cold glass of stout!

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

tree hugging crybabies. the environment can wait, we need progress. trump is trying to bring about more progress for the state and all they're doing is causing a fuss citing the environment as the motive. pathetic vote mongering is all it is. step aside

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

"California, one of the most progressive in the U.S. on climate issues, "

Or one of the most job-killing, depending on which way you look at it.

""Thank God for California"

Nah, California tried to give us President Hillary Clinton.

Oh my...

Trump sending a pro-growth, pro-environment message
