For those who wants to hate Israel will no need a reason.

Media is totally biased, Israel is trying to live in peace, Hamas well known terrorist organisation is committing double war crimes,

1- by shooting rockets indiscriminately to Israeli civilians, they don"t care if the rocket is going to hit school, kinder-garden, hospital or regular house with babies inside. THAT IS A WAR CRIME

2- By hiding their rocket launchers in hospitals, schools and residential areas, hiding behind children on purpose, and hoping when the Israel retaliates naturally there will be civilian casualties. THAT IS A WAR CRIME

They do not care about civilians, they just want to get a press on their side.

world been donating generously to so called Palestinians billions of dollars every year.

What are they doing with this money you will ask?

Building schools? building hospitals? building infrastructure for better life?

the answer is NOOOOO.

They are using this money to dig terror tunnels in to Israel, so they can kidnap Israeli kids rape torture and kill them. they are buying thousands of rockets to terrorize Israeli civilians.

Now I am asking you.

If somebody dig a tunnel in to your house to kidnap your family members and kill them. Throw grenades in to your house, send thousands of rockets at midnight while you were sleeping.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO???

War is a ugly. There will be always causalities but Israel is not aiming to shoot any civilians. their strikes are very accurate aimed at terror targets.

They could carpet bomb the entire Gaza in 2 hours and kill every single person there. But they are extremely careful. Many times they cancel the air strikes because there are too many civilians in the area.

I served in Israel army with pride for 3 years. and I saw what is happening there with my own eyes.

I am talking from my own personal experience. sometimes Palestinians were throwing rocks the size of my fist to us and even Molotov cocktails but we were not allowed to shoot back. tell me if anybody throws stones and molotov coctails to your police and military what would they do?

Thank you.

They call and they call for peace from both sides, but don't call for justice and that is why the fighting will continue from both sides.

Because if you somehow never heard people shout out the call, peace without justice is no peace at all.

But where is justice, what is right, when so many powers back one sides fight.

Oh here's a location, and a courtroom too, plus judges and investigators too and even better, one side's already accepted, and can you guess where and who

The city's name is the Hague the court ICC

If you're sure you're in the right Bennie why don't you offer to let everyone know who's conduct is proper?

Is it because you know that its lies that you proffer?

Is it because you fear a place where they look at more dates than 7, and look at maps that show what you've hidden?

Palestine will be a nation once again

That would depend if they denounce All violence and have open elections to replace the terrorist group Hamas, then probably both sides can come together and start talks about a two state solution.

Let's face it, it is Jewish power/influence in the US that enables Israel to get away with it's abominable atrocities against the Palestinians.

Let's not conflate being Jewish with automatic support for Israel, eh

The role of Jewish power/influence in enabling Israel to get away with murder is a statement of fact. It conflates nothing with nothing.

Arabs in Israel can be elected to parliament- Not Apartheid.

Palestinians are executed for selling land to Jews- Apartheid. Just look up the case of Farid Bashiti.

There is a political tumbleweed rolling in the bleak baron silence

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, lihan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib. Jamaal Bowman, and Cori Bush, have been silenced.

Cowering under there desks?

The Squad has been swished!

Fact: The US list of designated terrorist organisations means absolutely nothing.

It means your elected officials that you think can do no wrong also believe Hamas is a terrorist organization. Nothing will change as long as the U.S. leadership continues to have this same line of thinking. I can put a wager down that Biden will do nothing as well though people here seem to think Biden is just taking his time. Therefore you can continue on with your thought process that Hamas members are complete angels and ignore who fired first.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Hamas is just exercising one of their fundamental rights: RESISTING OCCUPATION..

4 ( +5 / -1 )

And they will continue to lose, so why would Hamas put their people through this? That’s blood on their hands.

I was actually referring to Ireland but it obviously works with Palestine. Sinn Fein were demonized, as well. The likes of twitter troll extraordinaire Eoghan Harris is still at it. British media stations had their own cancel culture when it came to any SF spokesperson, there was a broadcast ban for years on the party.

Now Sinn Fein are one of the largest parties on the island of Ireland. Kept out of governent only by an unprecedented and desperate right wing coalition of Fianna Fail and Fine Gael. The two opposing Civil War parties.

My point is, eventually, the oppressed start to win.

Palestine will be a nation once again.

It is strange and tragic that every other population migration that happened in the aftermath of WW2 has been resolved. With this one exception. Germans aren't clamoring for the return of East Prussia. In all cases the people affected have move on and gotten on with their lives.

You should blame Hammas for hiding like cowards behind children and civilians.

Kind of like criminals when they take hostages? Of course, law enforcement agencies around the world invariably try to get hostages out safe. The IDF just shrug and blow them up along with the terrorists.

This is not unlike the situation in Ireland. Lands were stolen, people were literally kicked out of their homes.

Literally happened in every nation. Not trying to justify any land grab, but each story is different and each side has their reasons whether just or not depending of view the land was taken from

Their culture was almost completely erased and those who clung on to meagre existences were treated as animals by the ruling (invading) class. Eventually, inevitably, the people fought back but still, some of the country remains occupied.

Again, you can talk about every ethnic group has experienced challenging and traumatizing persecution and genocide.

But. How anyone can be surprised that a people so disenfranchised and downtrodden (putting it mildly) would fight back, is beyond me.

And they will continue to lose, so why would Hamas put their people through this? That’s blood on their hands.

the Palestinians is not anti-Semitic.

Well, some of them are not.

You think Biden should have used the government to interfere in a decision made by a corporation? How do you square that with your live of the free market?

Whoa- you think the state should not heavily regulate the energy sector? biden and his party does. So where were they? biden was avoiding blame for his lapse in securing the nations energy supplies. You are blame shifting just as you are attempting to do with the latest round of Hamas led attacks on Israel. Israel almost always reacts to a provocation from terrorists. Hamas launches attacks from schools, hospitals, and other civilian locations inviting retaliation in self defense. The Left never faces up to the tactics of terrorism by - you guessed it - blaming Israel for not allowing themselves to be killed.

I got a news-break for you, biden is president now. Trump has nothing to do with the outbreak of hostilities in the Middle East. In fact, things were fairly peaceful until biden took office. By the way, and in case you forgot, Hillary and the DNC purchased the Russian propaganda (see debunked Steele dossier).

Uh-huh, and tell us all about how successful Jared Kushner's Middle East peace plan was...

And don't forget the Steele dossier was initially funded by conservative Repub groups...

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Yeah, that bit of history gets ignored. Israel was created, but so was a country for the Palestinians- called 'Jordan'. Much bigger than Israel too. Yet somehow that wasn't good enough.

And Israel doesn't occupy Gaza anymore. They gave it back, remember? Also remember how Hamas and their ilk destroyed the businesses and property left behind by the Israelis.

Golan Heights? Debatable. But could be solved without constant terror attacks and rockets fired at civilians. It is a matter between Syria and Israel, nothing to do with Hamas.

West Bank? Wars have consequences. Invade your neighbour and try to kill them all, expect your neighbour to be irritated and maybe take steps to keep you away.

The whole Palestinian problem is the result of the Arab League trying to commit Holocaust 2.0, 3.0 etc. They have nobody to blame but their fellow Arabs.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Hence why I refuse to support left wing Muslim causes such as Palestine and Kamala Harris.

In what world does a former district attorney and state Attorney General in the US become a "left wing Muslim cause".? Meanwhile the most liberal groups in the US consider Ms. Harris to be too pro-police and too wiling to defend cops against charges of excess force for her to be trusted. Everyone distorts the truth for their ends I reckon.

@Fuji MatsuToday 10:17 am JST

would any of you commentators or article’s writer allow that to happen in your own country?! I bet you wouldn’t.

Hmmm. Did you not read my post just above yours? Ireland was subjected to centuries of bloody upheaval and genocide from invaders across the water, her people had their lands taken and they were brutalised, not allowed practice their religion or speak their language. Not allowed vote.

it’s time for Israel to defend itself and that’s what we do. By destroying Hammas it’s infrastructure.

We? Japan doesn't get to destroy anyone. Thankfully.

You should blame Hammas for hiding like cowards behind children and civilians.

No more to terror! Enough with hypocrisy. You would do the same thing!

Yes, which is why those who have endured the degradations and legacy of invasion/colonisation stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine, and their fight back against the terrorist apparatus of the apartheid state.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Most of our countries don’t engage in incessant land grabs and abuses of the human rights of our neighbors.

Neither does Israel. And what exactly is "our" countries? If you mean Western countries then that is pretty much the sum total of their history prior to 1945. Actually that's pretty much the sum total of humanity.

So, you’re saying Israel will stop the blockade of Gaza, the settlement expansions on the West Bank, take down the checkpoints that severely restrict the movements of the Palestinians, etc.? We can only hope.

No. Why would it do that?

Gaza is blockaded because it like many areas in the world is unfortunately controlled by a radical Islamic terrorist group. Funnily enough, it was the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza in 2005 that allowed Hamas to takeover. So either Israel reoccupies it or someone else or Hamas will stop terrorism. Israel isn't going to allow free trade with an illegal genocidal terrorist organisation and asking it to do so is unreasonable.

Jewish settlements make up approximately 3% of Judea and Samaria - what you foolishly call the West Bank. Expecting Jews to stop living in towns and villages in their homeland and to be banned from doing so by a Jewish state is unreasonable and also antisemitic. If Jews can buy land and build houses in any other country, they have a right to do so in Judea too.

Since you referred to land grabs I assume your concern is primarily about unjust appropriation rather than Jewish houses. Well your concern is fine but you should know that many settlement lands were and are purchased legally and people shouldn't be demonised for that.

I notice you didn't refer to illegal Arab-Palestinian settlements built in Israel or Israeli controlled territory in Judea. If settlements justify terrorism than don't Arab settlements justify Israeli violence too? Checkpoints don't restrict movements, they stop terrorists getting through to their targets without a problem. If there was no terrorism, there would be no checkpoints.

The fact that you think any of these can justify terrorism is insane. 2 of them (blockade and checkpoints) exist because of terrorism, thereby you are confusing cause and effect. The remaining issue stems from irrationality. No country in the world is going to stop its people living in their homeland simply because its enemies threaten terrorism if they don't.

This is the problem here. You have been so blinded by your hate for Israel that you can't step back and examine your positions objectively and reasonably. If Israel lifted the blockade and checkpoints there would be more terrorism not less. If Israel stopped Jewish settlement of Judea (aside from unjustly appropriated ones), it would be a rejection of Jewish rights to their homeland - indeed to all of Israel. If Jews can't live in Jerusalem and Hebron then there's no basis for them living in Tel Aviv. But Israel is obligated by law and nature to promote those rights, not to abrogate them.

So we arrive at the same end - a dead end. It's far worse than flogging a dead horse. Israel isn't going to do the stupid and unreasonable things that Leftists desire because what they want fundamentally is for Israel to surrender and renounce its Jewishness. Nothing will change until people start coming up with suggestions based on reason rather than prejudice and confusion - so the 70+ year conflict will continue because there are too many people interested in being right rather than reasonable.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

The lack of a response to Israel's crimes against humanity from Western leaders and the lack of outrage from Western corporate media is deafening. It's not long ago the BBC and all the rest were howling about the (fake) gas attacks in Syria. Now nothing...they're all just looking the other way as the IDF fire M109 howitzers into densely populated areas.

Biden's non-response also goes to show there is no difference between Democrat and Republican when it comes to Israel. What kind of world are we living in where China's foreign minister has more moral authority than the US?

“In recent years . . . the UN Security Council resolutions have not been earnestly implemented and, in particular, the Palestinian right to build an independent state has been continuously violated”

Fact: Palestine sent the first missile

After the IDF shot up the Al-Aqsa Mosque with rubber bullets and stun grenades during Ramadan services while simultaneously evicting long time home owners from their homes in East Jerusalem in order for a Jewish settlement to be built on land owned by Arabs.

Question- Do you expect the Palestinians to meekly accept loss of their homes and having their holy places shot up by Israeli forces without putting up a fight? Would you put up with someone forcing you off of your land because you are the wrong religion so the land could be given to some other family who just happens to be the government's preferred religion?

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Israel has been occupying Palestine since 1948 turning it's back on every UN resolution, and defying every call to negotiate a peaceful agreement with the Palestinians.

Did you miss that part of history in which Israel and Palestine were created by the UN from the former British controlled areas and were immediately attacked and pushed to the brink of annihilation? Israel has been under an unrelenting assault since day 1. The Palestinians rejected the state the UN provided them with. Israel has agreed on multiple occasions to the two state solution but the Palestinians always back out - the last time by Arafat. The Palestinians are hostage to Hamas - who would assassinate any leader who accepted that Israel has a right to exist. The surrounding Arab states leave them hostage to the militants by confining them to ghettos and refusing to accept them as refugees. I feel sorry for them too but their plight is in large part their own doing. Hamas and the Palestinians are partners in terror.

It’s amazing to me how Israel can be constantly attacked year after year, decade after decade, and yet be so harshly criticized for refusing to allow themselves to be eradicated from the Middle East.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

I would love to know what land exactly Israel is 'occupying' that it shouldn't.

Anything outside the borders of Israel before the 1967 war are occupied lands. A principal of international law codified in the Geneva Conventions is that nations may not keep the territory of an enemy that is captured during a war. All such captured land must be returned. Until Israel does so or there is a treaty agreed to by all the parties involved the territory remains under occupation. In the case of Israel that means the Gaza Strip, West Bank and Golan Heights.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

The Ottoman Empire was defeated in World War I, the British took control of the area known as Palestine. The land was inhabited by a Jewish minority and Arab majority. Tensions between the two peoples grew when the international community gave Britain the task of establishing a "national home" in Palestine for the Jewish people.

You and other posters are missing an important dynamic that is at the root of the current conflict and that is the Zionist movement. It is a movement originating among Ashkenazi Jews in the 19th Century in reaction to European anti-Semitism and the many Russian and Polish pogroms. A movement arose to re-establish a Jewish homeland in the former land of Israel. European Jews began immigrating there in the late 19th Century during the period of Ottoman control. Their numbers increased steadily and conflicts were breaking out even before WWII, particularly as Jews built up Tel Aviv and excluded Arabs from it. The Nazi effort to exterminate Jews in Europe greatly accelerated that immigration but the die was cast more than fifty years earlier when the Zionists set out to re-establish a nation called Israel as a homeland for Jews.

P.Smith- you are the one making the claim that land was stolen and/or occupied, up to you to show evidence.

Sickening

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I would love to know what land exactly Israel is 'occupying' that it shouldn't. Also, it is a strange 'apartheid state' that allows full citizenship, voting, and participation in parliament of the supposedly aggrieved group. Try being a Jew in any Arab country and you will know what apartheid is!

I find the Israeli response to be remarkably restrained. They have the power to wipe Gaza off the map in a matter of hours, yet choose only to engage Hamas targets.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

it’s time for Israel to defend itself and that’s what we do. By destroying Hammas it’s infrastructure.

And then what? Will the Palestinians all of a sudden recognize Israel and Zionism? Will they get their own state or right of return? My guess is the opposite. The Palestinians will continue to resist until the State of Israel's racist policies and occupation end and they (Palestinians) have the right under international law to do so.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Japan could contribute to a solution by stopping to fund the UNRWA. As long organisations like Hamas get money, they will use it for terrorism.

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

Ok corralling traditional land, home owners into ghettos that’s ok because God promised it, by the way where is he now? Kinda need him. So punishing the freedom fighters trapped inside a concrete wall, who ideally just want their homes back is an act of sedition? Seriously it’s not about anti-Semitic beliefs it’s about a fairness to fellow genetically linked people.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

This is ridiculous and twisted way to present the reality in Israel and the Middle East.

Israel is under attack for more than 20 years. Children and parents run to the shelters on a daily basis!

He's done no such thing. These kind of smear tactics are pure hasbara. Let me spell it out for those who conflate Jewish people with Israel - they are not the same. Criticism of the apartheid state and the IDF and their brutal tactics against the Palestinians is not anti-Semitic.

7 ( +13 / -6 )

The ignorance displayed by some commentators here is breathtaking. Worse, they tend to get thumbs-up...Israel is not an "apartheid state"--though I've been hearing that big lie for more than fifty years...The notion that the Israel is mooching off U.S. aid is also false. As Kevin D. Williamson puts it, "Aid to Israel isn’t aid to Israel. It is corporate welfare for U.S.-based military contractors."

How many readers are aware of Hamas's bloodthirsty agenda, its stated (!) agenda?

Here's a joke I heard long ago from an Israeli friend:

How can one sum up the significance of all Jewish holidays? Well, there were these people. They tried to kill us. They failed. We survived. Let's eat! (No, that's not really the meaning, but the joke makes a good point.)

An American politician has to contend with the belief among Evangelicals that an aggressive and hegemonic Israel at war with the Arabs has to start the final war, Armageddon, that brings the second coming of Jesus and, they believe, their ticket to heaven. Crazy as it sounds, I have had American Evangelicals tell me this in all sincerity. Moreover, they will tell you that the US has to support Israel unequivocally so god will not make the US suffer during the tribulations at the end of times. All of this sounds kooky but you have a huge chunk of the American public and American politicians of both parties who believe this to be true. No amount of logic or reason will change their minds. The more at war Israel is, the more brutally Israel treats its neighbors the happier they are because in their view it just brings the world closer to Armageddon and their salvation. You won't get anywhere with such people trying to talk to them about the barbarities of the situation there. They want it to get worse. It is their ticket to heaven. American policy is held hostage by religious constraints.

I disagree. Any country that violates international law, instigates senseless war, practices apartheid, (and the list goes on) deserves to be condemned by Japan. Yes, the Palestinians have rockets, but the Israelis have tanks, F35s, Submarines, Nukes, and billions of aid from US tax payers. The Palestinians have a right to self defense, just like Japan does.

11 ( +14 / -3 )

P Smith ! Learn you HISTORY ! Here is a free lesson !!!!!

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the world’s longest-running and most controversial conflicts. Its roots began in 957 BC when King Solomon built the first temple in the Israelite kingdom. The temple was destroyed by Nebuchadrezzar II of Babylonia in 587/586 BC. Both the Jews and the Arab Muslims date their claims to the land back a couple thousand years, and the current political conflict you have cited stemmed from WW1 ! For your uneducated knowledge, you need to know the following !

The Ottoman Empire was defeated in World War I, the British took control of the area known as Palestine. The land was inhabited by a Jewish minority and Arab majority. Tensions between the two peoples grew when the international community gave Britain the task of establishing a "national home" in Palestine for the Jewish people.

For the Jews, it was their ancestral home. However, the Palestinian Arabs also claimed the land and opposed the move.

The Jews, fleeing persecution in Europe and seeking a homeland after the Holocaust of WWII, arrived in huge numbers between the 1920s and 1940s. The swelling numbers led to violence between the Arabs and the Jews and resentment against the British rule.

In 1947, the United Nations voted for Palestine to be split into separate Jewish and Arab states, with Jerusalem becoming an international city. That plan was accepted by Jewish leaders but rejected by the Arab side and never implemented.

P. Smith you should enroll your self in an education system before you post your ill informed and anti-Semitic rhetoric !

Wouldn't you say the Israelis live by the sword too? Specifically a very big sword, kindly provided by their friends in the US government.

21 ( +25 / -4 )

Had Hamas not launched the attack Israel would not have hit back,

Just curious, but do you realize what started this was Israeli forces entering Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan services and using rubber bullets and stun grenades to clear everyone out of the mosque. If police came into a big Catholic cathedral during Easter services and used rubber bullets and stun grenades to clear the building would you not expect Catholics to erupt violently as a result? And do not ignore the fact that the Israelis are forcibly removing Palestinians from an East Jerusalem neighborhood so Jews can replace them. How would you react if the forces occupying your city after taking it during a war came to your neighborhood and ordered you to leave so some of their people could move into your home? Would you just walk away or would you fight.

18 ( +22 / -4 )

Resistance to Occupation is the LEGAL RIGHT of every human, and until Israel ends it's miserable Occupation of Palestine, the resistance will NOT end.

17 ( +24 / -7 )

Those smart weapons are either targeting innocent civilians or not so smart. Could be the operator I guess.

The weapons in question will hit within a couple of meters of whatever coordinates were entered into the weapon's mission plan. Unlike the free fall bombs of WWII that usually fell many hundred of meters off their intended target, modern smart weapons are reliably accurate to within a few meters of their intended target. Some are accurate enough to go through specific windows or a cave entrance. The weak link is the intelligence that is used to generate those coordinates during the mission planning process. If the mission planning team enters the coordinates of a purely civilian target, the weapon will hit it. The weapon has no way to know if the information used by the mission planners was incorrect. The weapon can only go where it is programmed to go. If the intelligence feeding the mission planning process is bad the outcome of the attack will be bad.

Hamas launched thousands of missiles (nearly 3000 at last count) at Israeli towns in an unprovoked attack. If terrorists did that to any of the countries posters above come from they would be demanding massive retribution. Had Hamas not launched the attack Israel would not have hit back, if Hamas stopped firing missiles Israel would stop targeting them.

Those smart weapons are either targeting innocent civilians or not so smart. Could be the operator I guess. Collective punishment, that’s a war crime. Targeting civilian areas that’s a war crime. Obstinate refusal to recognise a failed policy that’s just religious intolerant thinking. Really attacking a refugee camp that’s been there so long now a city, surrounding it with walls making it a ghetto, having the final say on imports.
