This is only the natural outcome of anti-refugee bias. First you choose an aspect of their identity that makes them ineligible for being accepted, the fact that they're Muslim, even if such criteria are illegal. Then, you dehumanize people with that identity to harden your heart to their suffering. Once you've built the mental scenery that lets you imagine they aren't human, it's only natural to treat them like they aren't human. This reporter isn't some crazy monster, she's just a bit ahead on the road that she and her anti-refugee allies are walking.

She could get a job working for Fox News as a political commentator.

24 ( +32 / -8 )

I have never saw disrespect from anyone on Fox News. I have on other networks almost daily. Watch it sometime, you may learn something.

-27 ( +9 / -36 )

She was just auditioning for a job with FOX news, but Trump will probably offer her more as his personal camerawoman.

20 ( +27 / -7 )

Not even a nice try. Try again! If you are looking for a network, try MSNBC after all they hired Al Sharpton. Fox has liberal commentators, can other networks make a similar claim with conservative commentators?

-20 ( +6 / -26 )

Fox has liberal commentators

Who?

18 ( +22 / -4 )

Despicable. There are also young children involved. That young boy could have easily been injured seriously.

17 ( +20 / -3 )

All you people leaving negative comments about Fox news should maybe apply for jobs with the BBC, they love hiring delusional leftwing weirdos lol I've got a good idea, why don't we just let every single Syrian and African come to ruin Europe? Oh wait, we already are..

-14 ( +10 / -24 )

Right wingers just can't help themselves.

8 ( +15 / -7 )

Rupert Murdoch will no doubt make her a lucrative job offer.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

@Black Sabbath

Your remark would imply that all people who adhere to conservative ideologies lack basic human morals what would prevent them from kicking people who are already down. In other words they are morally "sub-human". That is exactly the kind of "dehumanizing your enemy" mindset that katsu78 is criticizing. For shame.

Folks,

Very sad, bad situation with all these people fleeing, the world is going to be seeing a lot more of this, due to weather, wars, poverty...................

Not sure if the world will be able to handle these waves of people, I hope we can but there will be many who end up being treated & locked up in very bad places...............

Let's just abolish national boundaries. As GW suggests, it will get worse, the floodgate is open as it's been in the U.S. Southern border. It's just out of control and no solution from the current administration here in USA. Europe has successfully opened a can of worms. The next wave soon to come.

Irritated camerawoman are not the concern in the near future.

I watched the entire video and I think the tripping incident is being blown out of proportion. The policeman is trying to restrain the man by grabing his jacket, and it's only after seeing him forcefully break free from police that she steps in to trip him as he escapes. She and her TV network may have vile views on immigrants and I agree that the boy was entirely innocent, but stepping in to 'help' the police in this type of chaotic situation probably doesn't warrant the international condemnation she is getting.

-11 ( +4 / -15 )

I think the tripping incident is being blown out of proportion.

Yes, it's perfectly acceptable to trip refugees carrying small children.

13 ( +15 / -2 )

Yes, it's perfectly acceptable to trip refugees carrying small children.

No, it's not acceptable when someone is just being cruel. But it is at least understandable where a person makes an attempt (albeit not the best attempt) to stop someone who is forcefully trying to escape police custody. You can't just ignore the police, even if you are a genuine refugee.

Article 2 - General Obligations - Every refugee has duties to the country in which he finds himself, which require in particular that he conform to its laws and regulations as well as to measures taken for the maintenance of public order.

'I have never saw disrespect from anyone on Fox News. I have on other networks almost daily. Watch it sometime, you may learn something.'

The last thing I learned from Fox regarding the subject of immigration and Muslims was that Birmingham in my home country of the UK was 100% Muslim and non-Muslims are too scared to enter it.

I was shocked to learn this but not as shocked as the people of Birmingham.

I don't think 'fair and balanced' Fox under the amoral Murdoch is the best place to 'learn' about people heading into Europe.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

Glad she got fired.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

But it is at least understandable where a person makes an attempt (albeit not the best attempt) to stop someone who is forcefully trying to escape police custody.

When they're carrying a child? No it's not. It's just being a b*tch.

13 ( +15 / -2 )

Wearing a mask to cover her shame as well, she knows exactly what she's doing

I disagree. Except for in cases where the people fleeing are likely to be violent to innocent parties, I think it's very unwise to allow random civilians (especially ideologically biased civilians) to use force against suspects in a police action. Most of us aren't trained, many of us don't know the limits of what degree force is permitted. The moment you start allowing citizens to use force, you blur the lines between things like this and vigilantism.

Bet her actions reflected the views of a large proportion of the Hungarian population. They had no part of screwing up the Middle East and north Africa yet, as an EU member, they are being obliged to take this huge burden on. It is indeed tragic for the refugees but, frankly, also very difficult for your average Hungarian. Hungary is not a rich country and many of its own people struggle to make ends meet. Scenes of their police being abused and physically assaulted must be very unsettling for them.

Gonzo reportage?

M3M3M3: I watched the entire video and I think the tripping incident is being blown out of proportion.

She's kicking a little girl in the JT photo.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Journalists are supposed to stand back and report, not join in, unless lives are at risk. What this woman did is indeed dehumanizing behaviour. Her immediate firing was the right response.

14 ( +15 / -1 )

Here is the most comprehensive video for anyone interested in seeing it.

https://youtu.be/WJlR0HJZb7g

@turbotsat; @katsu78

Yes, but when you watch the video, there is pandemonium after the refugees break through the police lines. She is first bumped by one of the refugees breaking through, she kicks the next one (the girl) as she tries to move away, and then flees (presumably to a safer location). It doesn't look like she has shown up at the site to deliberately target and assault people. I imagine she is also quite afraid for her own safety since she sees that the police have lost control of the situation.

I'm not saying she is a saint, just that she isn't the devil incarnate (as some on the internet are saying) based on this incident. People are calling for her to be arrested but she would never be prosecuted in these circumstance in any country I'm aware of. I also don't think tripping a man escaping from police is unreasonable force for a woman holding a camera. It's easy to condemn her, I'm just trying to be objective considering the circumstances. I might be wrong and many people will undoubtedly disagree.

@CrazyJoe,

Not sure if CNN or MSNBC are any better.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

If I were to try and guess her political leanings by the picture, it looks like she leans right when in attack mode!

But she is tricky. If she wants to trip you up, she uses leftist tactics! Look closely!

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Reminds me of the hunting scene from "Planet of the Apes"...

I have never seen so much hate. I didn't read anywhere in the article that it was a Fox News reporter. Show ONE example from a video where Fox News reporter has done this. And the articled DID say that she was FIRED.

What... liberals can't practice what they preach?(which is tolerance. ANY opinion that differs from theirs, and it becomes 'bigotry' or 'hate' or 'racist'. ). They don't understand that people have a different view is allowed, other than their own. It doesn't always line up with the conservative thinking either. I had to explain that b/c liberals are unable to do so.

Let the negative marks come, it only shows the true liberal heart. You people are not always right, please try to understand that, instead crying for your own way until you get it.

Hungary choose to be a member of EU. No one force them. They receive billions euros aid every year to improve their economy. Hungarian can travel free and work in EU. So they have to share their part of refugee like other countries. They just have a xenophobia government. Hopefully many Hungarian went out to help refugees.

It's not the reporter's fault in that photo: she's a far-righter so her natural reaction to any sort of forward momentum, especially in kids, is an insect-like automated knee-jerk to her right..

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

I'm pretty sure we can guarantee that there will be much more of this type of behavior across the EU in the next decade. It was appropriate that they fired her, but this will be nothing when the rest of the locals start reacting to this situation.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It's not just that people are evil and hate immigrants. Europeans have reasons to feel threatened by the growing presence of immigrants who may not respect the laws and culture of countries they migrate to. And since in human minds fear is followed by anger, things like that will happen more often.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

'I have never seen so much hate'

Take a look at the human garbage in the story attempting to physically hurt youngsters. I'd say that ranks above people taking the piss out of the rightwing media, wouldn't you?

Let's not exaggerate, eh?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

M3M3M3: "No, it's not acceptable when someone is just being cruel. How about the other people she decided to take the role of security guard, in your opinion, on and kicked as well, like in the picture? Notice the camera man running? If it were truly about safety you wouldn't have a known right-winger working for an ULTRA-NATIONALIST media agency that is known to be against immigration move to the front lines instead and start kicking people instead of moving out of the way. Next you'll be saying she deserves a medal. Sheesh.

Jimizo: "Take a look at the human garbage in the story attempting to physically hurt youngsters. I'd say that ranks above people taking the piss out of the rightwing media, wouldn't you?"

Exactly! but then, you have to keep in mind you are addressing a FOX news supporter; not like they downplay white people committing hate crimes (especially against Muslims or Blacks) and play up the idea that the 'true human crimes and hate' are the comments about said downplaying or the actions of the wingers themselves, right?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Journalists are supposed to stand back and report, not join in, unless lives are at risk.

Although that was a terrible thing to do to a kid, her actions shouldn't be too surprising because the story say she was a journalists from an ultranationalist network.

but this will be nothing when the rest of the locals start reacting to this situation.

Exactly. Wait till these refugees start snapping their fingers and demanding their rights in the faces of. . . Oh let's say- Germany's Autonome Nationalisten.

Some of these Syrians chanted "Germany-Germany-Germany", along their travel. But be careful what you wish for.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Your remark would imply that all people who adhere to conservative ideologies lack basic human morals what would prevent them from kicking people who are already down.

I'm not implying anything. I'm stating quite clearly: Right wingers are at heart mean bullies.

This thread is evidence enough at that. Here, we have an adult women kicking a child. And all the right wingers can do is explain and justify.

Because, at heart, they do not see anything wrong with it.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

@Black Sabbath, @smithinjapan

Here, we have an adult women kicking a child. And all the right wingers can do is explain and justify.

I guess that comment is directed at me? I'm actually quite far left if that interests you. Perhaps even more far left than yourself seeing as my understanding and compassion extends not only to the refugees but also to the police, the journalists and even those who may be intolerant themselves and who act out in anger in an emotionally charged situation where they see the law and public order completely break down. Saying that you understand why someone acted in a particular way doesn't mean that you are endorsing or justifying it.

Again, this story has been blown out of all proportion. No, the refugees didn't deserve to get kicked or tripped and No, she doesn't deserve a medal, but nor does she deserve 5 years in prison (or however long they say she will get). There are horrible acts of racially and religiously motivated violence that happen on a daily basis around Europe that make this woman look like a nun, but the media has decided to hold her up as the paragon of hate crimes simply because there are some good pictures. If you are as liberal as you claim, take a step back and have a little bit of perspective, understanding and sympathy for everyone.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

M3M3M3: "but nor does she deserve 5 years in prison (or however long they say she will get)."

Yes, she does, since her motivation was indeed based on hate. As said, if she were really fearful for her safety she wouldn't stand there kicking a deluge of people -- she would have been making off with the camera man.

"There are horrible acts of racially and religiously motivated violence that happen on a daily basis around Europe that make this woman look like a nun..."

There are also acts of religiously motivated violence that would make a rapist, say, look pretty good -- should we be sympathetic to them as well? You seem to think so, since worse crimes have been committed.

"No, the refugees didn't deserve to get kicked or tripped and No, she doesn't deserve a medal, but..."

Your 'but' says it all, M3M3M3.
