Canada has not really been nice to China or Russia. Huawei's Meng Wanzhou for instance. Backing Ukraine even though the presidents son was given stacks of money from Ukraine for doing nothing.

who knows who hacks them, just easy to blame the ones you hate without evidence to satisfy the morning papers. Everybody is hacking everybody.

If China is involved in the cyberattacks on Canadian infrastructure including facilities elated to petrochemicals, could China be doing them as a business favor for its partner Russia, or perhaps its partner Iran or another of the globe's big oil/gas nations.

Because every country is a target for China. China has consistently, for decades, been trying to steal literally anything it can from any countries, both for economic and political reasons. It's government policy.

It's rampant. I used to work for an entertainment company and we had stores to sell merchandise. China was the only country we had to prohibit cameras because people were taking pictures of the merchandise to copy the design and make pirated goods. It's the same in Japan. Many stores don't allow you to take photos because of the number of Chinese 'tourists' taking photos of merchandise to copy.

China and Chinese citizens, correction other countries and non USA citizens are not obligated to be forced to follow USA sanctions.

Canada once had guts and stood up to the USA including modifying our laws (Canada) to specifically say we would not enforce extraterritorial sanctions such as the Helms–Burton Act regarding Cuba.

The fiasco of Meng Wanzhou was an attempt around extradition by charging her with a minor offence that the USA expected Canada to honor, and then once in custody charge her with the illegal Iran extraterritorial sanctions violation.

The judge in the case realised this was all illegal and through the case out, if JT and his government had a pair they wouldn't have gotten involved because the USA law is illegal, you cannot make a law telling other countries and it's people what to do.

Canadian companies were totally hacked by Chinese companies in the early 2000s. Nortel is gone thanks to Huawei stealing all their IP, for example. If Huawei hadn't stolen everything, that company wouldn't exist.

Canadians are too nice. There are lots and lots of other Canadian companies screwed by foreign govts and companies. RIMM is gone ... though I'd blame India more than China for that. RIMM should have licensed their thumb-keyboard to anyone making a smartphone. I still miss the RIMM keyboard today.

Regardless of nationality, if someone wants to do business using the US Dollar and the US banking system, Paypal or similar they have to follow US laws. Period. Otherwise good luck getting people to pay you in Yuen, the Rial or Turkish Lira for your crap.

The US has forces guarding those oil fields to prevent them from falling back under the control of Islamic State. When IS had them they sold the oil to finance their war. The US doesn't get any of that oil. It is under the control of the Kurds who sell it to the Syrian government.

It is also helpful that the region lies across the preferred land route used to ship weapons from Iran to IRGC forces and allied Shiite militias in Syria including Hezbollah units. The US ability to control that area prevents Iran from using it as an arms shipment route (sort of a modern day Ho Chi Minh Trail for Iran), a fact that infuriates Iran and is the reason for the many recent rocket attacks by Shiite forces on US bases in the area.

"Guarding" and "Stealing" were two very different terms, did the US forces granted permission from the Syrian government? NO? Yes, the answer is : NO. That met the definition of stealing oil !

China and Chinese companies have been caught thousands of times inside non-Chinese corporate networks. Attempts by other law enforcement around the world to have Chinese extradited for legal proceedings have failed. OTOH, if China knows any hackers inside the US/Europe who are responsible for hacking and stealing Chinese information, they only need to submit a formal extradition with sufficient proof to have those individuals turned over.

If you have proof that any US company has stolen from Chinese companies, bring the charges. If there is sufficient proof, the Chinese company will win and more importantly, The non-Chinese company will be prevented from selling any of the stolen goods.

I can point to thousands of crafty/smart devices that were invented by non-Chinese companies, but have had that "idea" stolen and are being sold world wide by Chinese. This is called IP theft and it is illegal everywhere, except China. Russia also allows IP theft, provided the theft is not from other Russian companies. Last time I was in Hong Kong, in a mall, I was trying to take some photos of interesting watches. The shop owner ran out and stopped me. I was shocked. A basic lack of rule of law in those 2 countries is a real problem for trust.

China and Russia are lawless in the international community. They never extradite their criminals. The only way other counties can gain access to those people is by catching them during travel.

The current Syrian Govt are war criminals. Providing them with access to money just let's them kill more citizens. Russia and China always stand behind authoritarian leaders. Always. This is so when they arrest or kill thousands of their own people inside their countries, at least a few other countries will prevent a unanimous vote in the UN.
