Go Canadia! It's always good to see people embracing intelligence instead of fear-driven ignorance.

It should be legal everywhere and taxed. Everyone is smoking and growing it anyway. Well done Canada!

10 ( +12 / -2 )

Pot like alcohol back during prohibition brought criminals with it, legalizing it takes away the criminal element and allows the state to regulate and tax it. The boom in increased tax revenues will do nothing but help the Canadian economy. Many folks south of the border have another reason to take a "trip" up north!

"Embracing intelligence" - I love it. Only a current days liberal could come up with that definition of getting stoned.

Only a conservative would make the assumption that "embracing intelligence" is a euphemism for getting stoned.

Agree with all. Go Canada! the REAL leader of the free world.

"I am so happy to be living in Canada right now instead of south of the border."

Even without the legalization of pot, I'd think thats a given.

Way to go Canada !

Welcome to the Third World...oh sorry, I meant Developing World.

Seriously, it seems rather sad that people need cannabis to be legalized to be happy.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

ALmost,

exactly. Its sad and ironic all the lefty libs celebrating the populace getting more dumbed down and pacified. Or maybe it makes perfect sense.

Canadians arriving at Kansai be aware. Those airport dogs barking at your legs are smelling the environment you left earlier. Be prepared for temporary hassles.

Seriously, it seems rather sad that people need cannabis to be legalized to be happy.

Nowhere in the article or in the comments is it asserted that weed being legalized is necessary to be happy.

This comment has no basis in reality.

What do pot smokers know about “reality”?

Yet if trump tried to legalize it in the USA you would still be complaining about him.

What do pot smokers know about “reality”?

Pot smokers know that weed isn't the devil incarnate, unlike barely literate conservatives.

Yet if trump tried to legalize it in the USA you would still be complaining about him.

Conservative clairvoyance at work once again.

Yes clairvoyance comes with......not smoking pot all day. Impaired people trying to tell me I’m barely literate? Lol nice one

A large segment of many populations should be required to have a daily medication of mind altering substances. A sedated populace is a compliant populace.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Everything in moderation - some people drink alcohol too much yet still be legal

3 ( +3 / -0 )

People, life's too short to be getting high and wasted. Live it, don't 'waste' it :)

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

The 'progressives' are in heaven. Everybody sedated and compliant. A globalists dream come true.

Perhaps, but others seem to get their kicks by criminalizing it. Different strokes, etc.

Make many assumptions? Rofl!

Comservatives continue to display their utter ignorance.

OK, but what happens when THC is detected in blood/urine in a visitor - immediately deported, or deported after spending time in detention awaiting trial?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yay Canada. I'm going to take a vacation to Vancouver in the spring. It's going to be great.

It's interesting seeing people somehow trying to say that there is something wrong with getting stoned. There is literally nothing wrong with getting stoned.

Yet if trump tried to legalize it in the USA you would still be complaining about him.

When Trump mentioned legalizing it in the past, I supported him and praised him on the matter.

But hyper-partisans believe everyone is hyper-partisan.

OK, but what happens when THC is detected in blood/urine in a visitor - immediately deported, or deported after spending time in detention awaiting trial?

Why would they test visitors for THC - it's legal now.

The usual western hypocrites showing their true face again, celebrating the use of narcotics?

What's wrong with it?

All the usual liberal/progressive/left posters celebrating getting stoned. Another common theme emerges. Itmakes perfect sense. Like wow man, its all beautiful n groooovy!

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

@theFritzX All the usual liberal/progressive/left posters celebrating getting stoned.

I think it must be difficult for those from authoritarian states where choices in just about everything are limited to understand there are options to drinking fermented potato and grain blends.

Everybody sedated and compliant

Everybody? You think the the whole population will be doing this all the time? Delirium.

Chill out. Spark a joint.

Just treat it like alcohol

What ya do or don't do with alcohol - do or don't do it here too

People celebrate by getting drunk; people celebrate by getting stoned

Ya have a cold drink after a hard day's work to reward yourself; ya have a nice puff after a hard day's work to reward yourself

Don't drink or puff and drive - in fact, here's Winnipeg's 1st toking and driving ticket issued 1 hour into legalization, lol:

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/cannabis-consumption-car-ticket-1.4867328

Winnipeg Police tweet exactly that:

Winnipeg Police @wpgpolice

So … this happened early this morning: A Consume Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle ticket was issued. Just like alcohol, consuming cannabis is legal - and like alcohol, consuming it in your vehicle is not. #KnowYourRole
