I sure would. But, helping this one father would put tens of thousands more at risk. Once terrorists realize a country is willing to pay out, they're going to target people from that country. That's why the person who decides on the method of dealing with the terrorists is not the father, but rather someone independent, because the long-term concerns of all the citizenry have to be considered, it's bigger than the one (or two in this case) hostages.
