Trudeau says China-linked 'Spamouflage' campaign targeted Canada lawmakers

Rest-of-world says "typical China."

In a statement, the Chinese embassy in Canada said Beijing has never interfered in the internal affairs of other countries.

and they say these things with a straight face

Ottawa has also accused Beijing of trying to interfere in its affairs through various schemes, including illegal police stations and the targeting of lawmakers.

Those illegal police stations need to be identified and all their personnel arrested or neutralized in some form or another. Another racket that needs to be closed down and made illegal is the Confucious Institutes around the world.

Enough is enough.

What exactly did he do this time to make you think he is worse than Xi? The article only says he voiced opposition to Chinese government controlled bots posting spam and disinformation on social media. Are we to assume that Chinese government controlled bots posting spam and disinformation is a good thing, and that a better Canadian leader would be voicing support for it instead of condemning it?

Trudeau attracts a lot of hate, but a lot of it is unwarranted - and from people who openly admire the likes of Xi, Kim and Putin. I respect the job he has done standing up to such a powerful, deplorable totalitarian regime that is Communist China. Many don't like him as he calls a spade a spade, and doesn't dance around things in diplomatic-speak. Good for him - and Canada - I say.

What the world desperately needs right now are champions of democracy and freedom - values that are under attack from all sides.

I have two Chinese Canadian friends who have been questioned by newly arrived Chinese guys. Nobody knows who they really are, where they live, and nobody wants to ask questions because they're scared for their families back in China. It's all hush hush. Suddenly, they're gone but nobody knows if and when they'll come back. Now their little community is suspicious about insiders who may be secretly supporting them and passing information. My friends avoid the Chinese consulate like the plague.

No, Canada is not threatening to detabilize the region through military force, in disputes with all it's neighbors or bent on replacing the present world order.

Can you provide one example of a Federal policy under Trudeau that compares to what's going on in China? Like the Uyghurs? Missing Chinese politicians? Arms buildup?

The single best thing about Trudeau is how angry invoking his name makes right-wingers who hate it that Canada has elected him three times.

In a statement, the Chinese embassy in Canada said Beijing has never interfered in the internal affairs of other countries. It said the accusations were a "blatant smear campaign" and that Canada was a "downright liar and disseminator of false information".

Authoritarian China says this about Canada with its transparent media and thinks that people of intelligence are going to believe them.

Only the panderers to authoritarians will agree.

One of my best pals is a very liberal Canadian lawyer and he’s not really all that fond of Justin. Thinks he’s kinda crooked. I’ll have to ask him if Trudeau is worse than Xi on the authoritarian scale…

good lord, what planet do you guys live on?

Slayer, when right wing Canadian Pols start getting brought up on “corruption” charges and face a firing squad a week later, then you can start comparing Justin to Xi…

LOL?! Trudeau is an absolute master of dancing around things in diplomatic speak. Don't think we've ever heard him give a proper, direct answer to a question.

May Canada one day soon get a decent Prime Minister they actually deserve, and may the Chinese Communist continue it's well-deserved spiral into self-destruction.

Why would anyone listen to what he has to say about China when he lets them buy all the houses, apartments, businesses and farms across Canada?

Trudeau directly - and rightly - criticises the CCP. As is seen in this article where the Canadian govt have directly accused China of hijacking social media accounts.

Most world leaders would be dancing on eggshells about this, not directly stating facts, so as to not offend the always hot-tempered Chinese.

wow! Sanity! Justin sucks and Jay hopes they get someone better!

is he worse than Xi, Jay, or does he merely suck and you’d like someone else?

You get the government you deserve, and Canada has elected him three times. It’s also one of the most desired countries in the world to live in. Seems the Canadians already have what they deserve.

So you are saying Canadian law should ban people of certain nationalities or ethnic groups from owning homes, and until it does so its Prime Minister should not object to anything bad China does in Canada because so long as Chinese people can buy Canadian property.....everything China does is beyond reproach?

I must say I find the logic behind that argument awfully confusing, and the moral principles animating it to be questionable at best.

You’re looking at it with non-extremist logic. The extremist sees the name Trudeau and because it’s him, they declare whatever action he has taken to be reprehensible.

There literally is no action Trudeau could take that wouldn’t criticize, as in their eyes due to the action being performed by him, it cannot be anything other than deserving of criticism.

Prove me wrong extremists.

Like most politicians, he deserves both criticism. Grown-ups will see that he’s been successful at the ballot box and must assume he’s doing something right.

Predictably, he sends the rightwing North American podcast watchers into hissy fits but they just regurgitate what they’ve been told. A waste of space.
