Chun treads a dangerous path here. They may be playing their hand too early, which could result in a bad outcome for them. The world is only going to sit back and watch for so long.

If one thinks that in countries like China, people are "free", then it is a mistake.

However, this action is based upon the laws of Canada and China has nothing to do with it.

And China would also say that if they were to have any detainees, other countries have nothing to do about it.

It is Canada's authority within their own country. So demand as China may, if Canada does not remove the indictment, and China short of threats of retaliation or actual retaliation, may not influence the situation. In such a case, they are walking down a path to major a conflict.

Is Canada a democratic country? Why the government has to interfere in business. Why not let the consumers decide whether to trust Huawei or not.

Is China a democratic country? Why does China have state-owned businesses? Why not let the consumers decide which businesses succeed or fail without Chinese tax money propping them up?

One may find the answers there as well

China has always used any and all means to steal technology from any country that has what it does not. The Communist party can not be trusted and it has complete control of all people and companies in China. Those who try to fight Communist party rules find themselves in prison until they acquiesce or until they die.

Doing any business with China or Chinese companies is fraught with danger that the party may in some way intervene and take direct control, order boycotts against countries that do not act as directed by China, or arrest innocent people to make a point.

The time to invest in China is over. Western companies should get out of China now and reinvest in their own countries.

China is well aware of the use of backdoors in code to use for espionage. With what the government is doing to their own citizens with the use of tech and what they are doing in the south china sea and the bluff and bluster about Taiwan there is no way any western country should allow a Chinese company to set up IT infrastructure.

Is Canada a democratic country? Why the government has to interfere in business. Why not let the consumers decide whether to trust Huawei or not. Guess it's true, blaming China long enough the blame becomes true or as they said, "repetition breeds reality."

Countries have always evaluate national security concerns when it comes to business, particularly those that involve technology.

And when it comes to telecom equipment, especially the 5G network related equipment, its not just a question of consumer choice. There are truly national security risks involved, including the ability for China to use Chinese equipment that is installed in overseas countries to spy on those countries, etc.

What Canada is doing is prudent. You should read about what China is doing within its own country in terms of the restrictions on the use of technology / equipment from foreign vendors.
