Trudeau is on record saying in essence the more "refugees" who come to his country the better. Bravo, Canada. Take them all. . . .

Seekers don't equal people being granted asylum.

My country also has many seekers most of whom are send packing/deported.

Problem is how do deal with them till they are approved/rejected.

Quick question for Texas, bass4 funk, et al. What's the difference between and asylum seeker, a refugee, an immigrant and someone who crosses the border illegally? I'm guessing by your ignorant posts that you haven't the slightest clue. Trudeau never said anything about being ok with people crossing the border illegally. The hypocrisy of some posters here boggles the mind. You hate illegal immigrants coming into your country but cheer it on when it's people crossing into other countries.

If you are a refugee or an asylum seeker running from a war torn country or seeking a better life for yourself or your family you cannot stroll into a country anytime you want, you have to be properly thoroughly vetted and pass all and every requirements you should be allowed in. If not and you don't go through the proper channels and have NO right to enter ANY country regardless if you are an asylum seeker or a refugee.

I know Way more than you will ever know.

Welcome to my world.

Stop! I don't hate anyone! Quite opposite, I could care less what you are or where you came from, color or religion. I am not a racist, bigoted or anything hateful or have hate in my heart, I just don't and will never approve of people willingly coming to my country illegally

As probably the only Canadian posting a comment here (at least thus far), I can assure the rest of you that Canadian immigration authorities, while a bit hard-pressed due to the increased volume of people walking across the border, are as strict in their approach to treatment of those asylum-seekers as any other country's officials. They send back or deport more than half of them. What amazes me, though, is that several hundred of those asylum-seekers walk across the border in the middle of the continent in the middle of winter, when it's often -20C to -30C, after being dumped miles from the border by usurious taxi drivers who are charging upwards of $1000 for a ride that's often less than 10 miles (16 kilometers). I'd like to see some of you try that.

Very interesting, didn't know that. Surprised that the taxi drivers would do such a thing.

Trudeau encouraged private citizens to sponsor individually to the refugees from Syria. Is this program successful? If it is not, they should be sent to the southern neighbor for sharing some burdens.

Geographically, Canada is second largest nation in this world. It can accommodate entire population of central and South America.

"Canada is second largest nation in this world."

It also has some of the world's least affordable housing, a truly absurd situation. That's largely because the government's open-door policies have among other things allowed foreign multimillionaires to buy some of the country's most coveted residential land, where many properties lay vacant.

You've just rolled refugees, asylum seekers and illegal immigrants all into one... thanks for proving my point that you are clueless about the distinction between these three groups of people.
