Canada to ban handgun imports: minister

Essentially I'm objecting to the Canadian government saying this:

Criminals using handguns is a problem, therefore we will stop selling handguns to people who aren't criminals.

Until you use the gun, you aren't a criminal, so that makes no sense.

What they are actually saying is, that handguns are involved in the majority of firearm-related violent crimes, so we will ban handguns.

Neither of which involved a handgun.

So? Why wait? There is zero necessity for any Canadian to have a handgun. I was talking to a Canadian here the other day who said that anyone carrying an illegal handgun smuggled from America should get a minimum 10 year sentence just for the smuggled handgun, then add any crimes on top.

These Canadians are serious. They've seen the mess that America has become with guns, they see American guns being smuggled into Canada, and they've had enough of it.

Smart move by Canada.

Now only the outlaws will have handguns there.

Freedom rings in Canada.

Canada once again proving it is a world leader in creating a free society for their citizens where they can roam free without daily mass shootings.

The US should ban the export of all handguns.

Canada is doing right, most citizens do not need guns and should not be allowed access to them!

If that’s what they want, it’s their country, they do as they wish. Again, doesn’t matter to me, I’m not Canadian

Canada can do what it wants and conduct its laws the way it wants, good for them and have no problems with it, I’m not Canadian so it doesn’t involve me or my country.

Without rusty mentalities from 300 years ago..

This will not have any effect on the lower mainland gang conflict.
