A new start with all sides neutral would be nice.

It’s a start between the two. But can there be a peaceful co-existence?

"In my opinion, it would be a serious mistake to sign an agreement as long as Hezbollah has not been completely eliminated," said Maryam Younnes, 29, a student from Maalot-Tarshiha.

Hezbollah is an ideal. An ideal cannot be eliminated.

These two nations Isreal and Lebanon have been in a state of war (76 years, 6 months and 4 days)

Maryam Younnes maybe right.  We have seen many cease fires come and go.

Whats will be diffrent this time?

Maryam Younnes maybe right. We have seen many cease fires come and go.

That's true. Only time will tell.

Given the scofflaw regime's inability to abide by ceasefire deals, and it's (and it's most determined foreign backer's) contempt for international laws, well, we might HEAR news reports that the ceasefire is holding, but it might be a good idea to check the UNIFIL reports.

Trump has nothing to do with the ceasefire. Israel is low on weapons and bombs and needs to restock.

Oh ok nothing to do with Biden or Blinken either.

just total coincidence on the timing. lol

From the post

"Netanyahu thanked Biden for his involvement in brokering the deal, and said it would allow Israel to focus on Hamas in Gaza and Iran."

Blacklabel

Oh ok nothing to do with Biden or Blinken either.

Incorrect.

I have not seen the version of the later later western press yet, but a ceasefire based upon the IDF still having control over bordder towns they have ordered to be evacuated.??? It was announced very early our morning that Biden had brokered the deal, with an intrinsic u'standing that IDF would retain border areas. Fact check. US CBS, Fox etc. I am hopefull (in very lower case typee).

The Jewish nation is a small nation. Israel is a tiny country. The obsession of obliterating Israel and slaughtering the Jews, instead of coexisting with Israel under a fair and comprehensive peace deal, is morbid.

Joey B's excellent diplomatic skills at work.

Any bets on how long until Hamas breaks the cease fire?

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

owzer, there is no cease-fire with Hamas.

Nine times out of ten it was Israel's Shin Bet which failed to keep the ceasefire in place, executing killings in different countries (Lebanon, Iran), with the right coverage from the US media which would hide the news. Oaths occasion Netanyahu just asked Blinken to restock few more billions dollars worth of weapons and create a casus belli to start all over again. Americans and Israelis are master of that

Fos, let us see who violates the ceasefire.

The real key player in this scheme is the Islamic Republic of Iran. Hezbollah’s inability to decisively win against Israel as well as the loss of senior leadership has made this adventure a liability for the Mullahs. Besides the drain on resources there is also the reality that the Islamic Republic’s air defense system has been severely compromised by Israeli air operations. They are extremely vulnerable and any escalation could pose a real threat to them.

Clearly, Iran pulled Hezbollah’s leash and gave the nod to the Lebanese to go ahead and make a deal with the Jews.

The Mullahs aren’t dumb and they can see the writing on the wall. This thing could be a very big bummer for them if they don’t play it right. To make matters worse, the Orange Devil is coming back.
