Cheney needs to STFU and apologize for invading Iraq to give OBL and the Taliban time and space to regroup. Dick by name and Dick by nature. Him and Nixon stenchy republicans.

Cheney to White House: "Stop the dithering" World to Cheney: "Shut your hole, you draft-dodging loser. You are no longer relevant".

As has always been the case, Dick Cheney speaks more sense than Obama's wee-wee'd - up fans in the transglobal 'progressive movement' and in the Blame America First Wing of the Democrat Party are capable of handling.

Judging from most of what's written above Cheney's detractors here (who presume to speak for the entire world, but actually describe Cheney and Bush as "unilateral") never even made it to the end of the article

“Our Polish and Czech friends are entitled to wonder how strategic plans and promises years in the making could be dissolved just like that with apparently little if any consultation,” he said. “President Obama’s cancellation of America’s agreements with the Polish and Czech governments is a serious blow to the hopes and aspirations of millions of Europeans.”

Well said, Mr Cheney.

Yeah, my biggest issue with the Dickster is that he has always been quick to wrap himself in the flag, but he still managed to shirk his duties when it was his time to serve. How many deferments Dick? At least Curious George stuck around long enough in his uniform to have his photo taken.

Then again, the Dickster might have ended up a friendly fire casualty in Vietnam (being fragged), because I cannot imagine many people would be able to put up with such an XXXXXX.

Why did Cheney send the troops there to face danger in the first place. Why hasn't this guy been executed yet?

Dead Shot Dick: "our troops face teh danger"

Get them out of there, then.

U.S. troop levels are at their highest level ever. http://www.nationalpriorities.org/2009/09/02/quick-facts-US-military-operations-Afghanistan

2002 5,200 2003 10,400 2004 15,200 2005 19,100 2006 20,400 2007 23,700 2008 30,100 2009 62,000 (soon to 68,000)

The Bush/Cheney administration had over seven years to complete this war. If they had focused U.S. efforts on fighting the war in Afghanistan instead of Iran, the U.S. would probably not be in its current situation, both militarily and economically.

I think it's been pretty well established that since Cheney is a Republican and someone who loves his country any choice he made between the time JFK got the country into war in Vietnam and the time Nixon got us out will be ctiticized by those on the left and still in the grips of BDS. Had he gone to Vietnam Cheney would be called a "baby killer". Because he didn't he is called "Deferment Dick", despite admirably serving his country as Sec of Defense under Bush Sr and in the volatile period following the defeat and breakup of the former Soviet Union.

“Make no mistake. Signals of indecision out of Washington hurt our allies and embolden our adversaries,” Cheney said.

yaaaawwwwwwnnnnnnnnn........

Sorry, who was this guy again? Was he famous?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

“They asked us not to announce our findings publicly, and we agreed, giving them the benefit of our work....,” Cheney said.

LOL! He sure did. The 'benefit' was a near-total disaster of a war that should have been America's prime focus since 2001 and yet was only addressed half-heartedly while Cheney, Bush and co. went off on a wild ride of an invasion of Iraq, a country that has never threatened - let alone attacked - America.

After 8 years, cheney is still sowing seeds of distrust and disaster.

What's the matter, Darth, are you worried your Haliburton dividends will drop this quarter?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

When did Mr.Cheney ever served in the US military before telling what next has to do! Go home, Mr Cheney you are not 'NOT SERVED and UNWELCOME'!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

A key reason the Afghanistan theater is worsening is because Bush/Cheney did not pay sufficient attention when they were in power.

Ditto for the U.S. economy.

These two idiots have a lot to answer for.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney accused the White House of dithering over the strategy for the war in Afghanistan and urged President Barack Obama to “do what it takes to win.”

What Dithering? They have their hands full with the new war they have just declared on Fox news, let em win that one first and then get back to Afghanistan later.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sailwind - "What Dithering? They have their hands full with the new war they have just declared on Fox news, let em win that one first and then get back to Afghanistan later."

Similarly to Bush/Cheney, you clearly don't really take the Afghanistan war seriously, either.

As a military veteran, you should be ashamed of yourself.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I think Dick Cheney raises some good points. Barrack Obama should consider his advice

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If only John McCain were president, sailwind.

Then again, if I were defending comments from an ex-VP with an 8% approval rating who was dissing the people attempting to pick up the mess that bush/cheney not only initiated in Afghanistan, but also as they try to rectify the mess due to their incompetence, then yeah....

....I'd probably inserting some nonesense about fox news.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

As a military veteran, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Why? Cheney's right he is dithering and American troops are paying the price for it AGAIN.

You and MADVERTS et-al on the liberal side of the fence don't give a hoot about the Legitimate points he is making....just want to bash Bush again......it is ALL YOU EVER DO.

I'm not ashamed in the least to point that out to you.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

why does a guy who starts wars as casually as Dick does, get any media time ?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Well Cheney should know all about dithering and national security considering the inaction of the US government between Jan. 2001 and Sept. 9th that year. But that really does not make him an expert.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

He's right that a decision needs to be made, but I think Obama is right to see exactly who will be in power in Afghanistan before he makes a final decision.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

dick cheney shut up. The country watched "Stay the Course for several years in Iraq. We saw your strategy. Barack Obama is taking the right strategy and doing this right in Afghanistan.

If bush and cheney had properly strategized we would be out of Afghanistan and never in Iraq. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Cheney's right he is dithering and American troops are paying the price for it AGAIN."

.....only you choose to moan now, whilst Obama is in office, having given bush co a free ride all those years as they promptly forgot Afghanistan to secure Iraq's oil-fields and uhm, heh..."WMD".

Give me a break calling me a liberal as an "argument". Cheney had an 8% approval rating. He once told another senator to "go fxxx himself" on the senate floor. He was a failure as a VP and has no right to be considered a statesman......and certainly no right to be critisizing anyone in light of his own ecord IMO.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the use of all those charming capital letters though.....romeo ramen often uses bold text to a similar effect.

U.S. military commanders on the ground in Afghanistan, as well as Secretary of Defense Gates are saying more troops are needed there.

Question: When is our commander in chief going to give the order to deploy the needed troops?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"having given bush co a free ride all those years as they promptly forgot Afghanistan to secure Iraq's oil fields"

Fact: U.S. troop levels in Afghanistan have steadily increased since 2002.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Fact: The security has worsened steadily in Afghanistan - and this is in part some of the incomptence from the dectractor named in the title of this thread.

"Question: When is our commander in chief going to give the order to deploy the needed troops?"

When he sees he has a reliable partner controlling the country, I guess. After the ridiculous corruption in the elections, any adult can understand the worry of sending more troops to a failure.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ironic statement, considering that one of the biggest criticisms of Cheney and Bush's treatment of the Afganistan and Iraq wars was thier failure to have a big enough invading force to be effective early on in the war. The lack of troop levels was also a noted reason for the failure to catch Osama early on in the invasion before he escaped to Pakistan.

What did the war in Afganistan gain, an apparently fraudulently democratically elected government that voted to allow Sharia Law which defines a women's role as "readiness for sex and not leaving the house without the husband's permission" to part of the law of the land. A huge leap forward in Afghan human rights.

"What did the war in Afganistan gain, an apparently fraudulently democratically elected government that voted to allow Sharia Law which defines a women's role........"

Let's not forget the hike in opium production.

I supported taking action in Afghanistan un-like in Iraq, it's just bordeline comic to see cheney having the gall to rear it's head and complain.

What is this opposite world? When I agree with Cheney you know the world has shifted on its axis. He's right, this along with the spat with Fox news is making Obama look like a child in over his head. When you pick a general you trust and then won't head his requests for more troops what message are you sending as commander in chief?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"When you pick a general you trust and then won't head his requests for more troops what message are you sending as commander in chief?"

That one general's request is not the basis ofa whole foreign policy pertaining to one troubled country?

If Obama made a snap decision to send troops, and the election fiasco continued which in turn put more US troops in harms way I bet my bottom dollar the same people agreeing with cheny's ra-ra will be whining at Obama for a troop surge.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Other than killing a fly on TV, Obama's entire time in office has been all talk and no action; so, it comes as no surprise that his vote on the "winnable war" is:

[ ] Send troops

[ ] Don't send troops

[X] Present

1. Dont think Mr. Nobel Peace Prize has what it takes. 2. Not sure he even wants to win.
0 ( +0 / -0 )

When SARGE writes what he writes, there is very little more to be said. Frankly, he is the expert in this particular blog. Frankly speaking our present Commander in Chief has very little experience to fall back on and thus has gained the reputation of being a foul ball. He should listen to Cheney.....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

He should listen to Cheney.....

Wouldn't you rather have Obama listen to people who previously made the right choices in the battle field, instead of someone who blundered the initial invasion? Obama repeated Bush's bailouts and stimulus spending which didn't turn out well, so he should be weary of repeating other mistakes.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

8 years of failure after the invasion in Afganistan that somehow allowed OBL to escape and now Cheney says Obama is moving too slow?

Nothing Cheney says make sense. He is a war criminal and the primary reason why the US is losing in two wars today, wars that did not have to happen at all, wars of choice.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Good call Dick. Straight from the mouth from a true patriot who can be trusted.

Obama is lacking in nerve and honesty. Dick is correct, this lame duck President is destroying all the great progress in Iraq and Afghanistan.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

7 years of dithering by Cheney and Bush on Afghanistan, what a joke. The depths of self-ignorance never fail to impress.

"WHITE HOUSE TO CHENEY: DROP DEAD.”
