Like in Brazil, many of these forest fires are caused to clear land for the beef industry.

Sigh. No, that is not the case in Chile. These are mountain forests on the border with Argentina. It is more like the Sierra Nevada or Rocky Mountains. Temps of 40 degrees C or more and high winds are driving these fires. Chile is a lot more arid than Brazil.
