I am going to guess he didn't just tick off the wrong people, he failed to make sure that enough cash trickled down to their hands.

Seems to me that when someone gets THAT high up in China all sorts of crap like this seems to happen. Like no one is immune from taking bribes.

China's corrupt "Communist" party in full swing itself. In a culture where taking advantage of others is a sign of being "smart".
