Mr. Schultz probably swallowed hard when he was informed of that remark. Left unstated is what happens to Starbucks if Mr. Schultz politely demurs. Mr. Xi is unforgiving of those who don't do as he demands. Also what happens if he does decide to promote such trade. I'd soil my underwear if I was running a company with the kind of exposure to the Chinese market that Starbucks has and their premier made such a request of me. If Mr. Schultz does indeed make remarks seen to promote US-China trade in line with Mr. Xi's request he risks being viewed as a CCP tool, Mr. Xi's poodle, weak, or even un-American. Elements of the US press will savage him. This has to be a very unwelcome turn of events for Schultz and Starbucks.

So Xi is trying to hold Starbucks at gunpoint. Help US-China relations or face boycott in China.

He should tell Xi to go pound sand.

The Starbucks CEO - if he had any ethics - should denounce Xi and Communism, their ethnic genocide of Muslims, takeover of HK, cultural destruction of Mongolia, Tibet, among many other outrages.

But Starbucks have zero ethics, as seen by the almost 4000 shops in Communist China. They are too gutless, and are only interested in money.

Doutor is FAR superior to Starbucks.

China will "provide a broader space for companies from all over the world, including Starbucks and other American companies, to develop in China.

Do not be fooled by Xi's sweet words.

I believe unless the US and the free world join together in the fight against China's intellectual property theft, the situation will maintain the status quo or be worsen. And moving business out of China is the only way to force China stopping its unethical economic development practices.

Starbucks should pull out of China and stop business with China!

Starbucks should tell Xi where to put it! After what they're trying to do with HK there should be economic sanctions on China. It worked gainst the apartheid regime of South Africa, it got Qaddafy to pay compensations against his terror victims so why not here?

All US companies should be planning how to leave China. Especially KFC. It is amazing how popular KFC is there.
