Eventually bases within striking range of Guam and Australia.

China just signed pacts with ten Pacific island states to train their police. Expect some armed coup d'etat soon against those among the ten who don't toe the Beijing line.

Under Obama, China skewered USA Marines by offering to build non-existent, unviable casino in the Marianas, where USA Marines had intended to conduct training for Marines based on Guam, because there wasn't enough land on GGuam. Obama did nothing, fearing upsetting China. Biden (Obama MK II) more than likely will do the same.
China somehow recently (at the Pacific Forum) on Fijian soil, managed to exclude media from all but Fiji and China media. US media wasn't even allowed in the room. Biden silent.
Waky, waky, eggs and breky, Sullivan, Blinken, Biden....

I indeed asked myself. What China hopes to get out of her ventures into The South Pacific. It is, exactly what Western countries hope to get, no more. I further asked myself. For the last, what 30 years, or so?? All those Western countries, which had the means/abilities to do more/help more/engaged more with The South Pacific, what did they do? Apparently not much, one even closed its embassy, you know the implication? when a country closed its embassy. China now has the same means/abilities, so, she is doing in The South Pacific exactly what those Western countries are doing, in other parts of the World, where the benefits/returns are more, greater than they could get/reap in The South Pacific. And now Westerners/Countries are screaming/shouting that China is coming to The South Pacific to rob/steal from the local people, when all she is doing, is exactly what Western countries are doing everywhere ??? And you know what i also asked myself?, Had China not gone to The South Pacific? The region will still be overlooked/neglected etc etc by the same Western countries, which are screaming now.

China has the money and it's getting more vis-a-vis the imperialist powers rapidly. Soon will eject USA from the region.

Soon there will be no fish in these waters. At least no sharks. With any fins anyway.

The USCG is already in the region. Even as Wang visits.
"The U.S. Coast Guard is operating forward in the Pacific Islands for the purpose of maintaining an American presence and building law-enforcement partnerships with regional governments. With capable Coast Guard cutter crews in the area, U.S. government personnel are becoming a familiar sight in the EEZs of under-resourced Pacific island nations. "

More bluh bluh bluh from the CCP. 'Battle of the Pacific'. Oooooooh, more politicl/propagandic claptrap. A BS catchphrase. Big Brothers everywhere go ruling their nations feeding the citizens with 'cool' 'patriotic' slogans.
Shove it up, CCP!
Sh1mon M4sada
The CCP has already started the pkundering of fisheries, forestry and other resources from the Pacific. They're now just trying to keep the locals from protesting and rioting. Eg recent Solomons riot against displacement of local farmers, and the Chinese tuna fleet replacing Taiwanese ones who at least employed locals.

...hmmm already started, this went on for years and it's certainly a surprise that a report was released at all. The almighty CCP global supply chain has more sway on USA politicians than you think.

A single security pact for the region was introduced. Some actually think a security agreement should be introduced and signed, all in one trip. These nations will have more economic activities through the series of bilateral agreements signed.
Wang YI offered five points and they covered mainly trade and development which all of them accepted.
*Trade Agreements with all Nations - Check
*Security measures - Fiji agreed, Miconesia - Agreed, Tonga - To Consider, Tuvalu - To Consider, Kiribati - To Consider
*Regional Pact - Need more time, mainly due to squabbles between Pacific Nations.
*Infrastructure Contracts - Yes in 4 Pacific NationS.
Most are alarmed and focus on the potential military ramifications but miss the key: for China it is about trade.
China has been reducing the percentage exports to the US by growing its exports to the rest of the world and by growing China’s internal GDP. China’s exports to the US is about 3% of Chinese GDP and that was 2 years ago. Now it’s 2.5%. Finding partners and developing new markets for China is Wang’s mission on this trip.
Back in the day Japan’s exports to the US constituted around 40%-50%. The difference with China is that Japan depended too much on the US.

China is taking a position in the Pacific, in a few years they will remove the influence of the US in the region..
