Having Donald as president is the best that could have happened to the Trump brands.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

Ivanka Trump's brand continues to win foreign trademarks in China and the Philippines, adding to questions about conflicts of interest at the White House,

Questions about conflicts of interest? Add in nepotism, influence peddling, collusion with foreign governments and their 'financiers', money laundering, among numerous other 'questions'.

But what did Americans expect when they elected a shady businessman long connected to organized crime worldwide, a history of bankruptcies, a man who is infamous for stiffing small businesses he'd contracted with, bait and switch tactics and other dirty business practices.

Trump and his supporters wanted to bring the US down. And they are succeeding.

19 ( +20 / -1 )

At the time of the inauguration, Abigail Klem, who has been a top executive at the Ivanka Trump brand since 2013 and its president since January, 2017, said she is planning her first trip to tour some of the facilities that make Ivanka Trump products in the coming year.

If this has happened, it certainly hasn't been as widely publicized as the factories that exploit workers.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Oh no people are making money! It fails to mention how many trademarks were granted before he was President, sensationalist journalism at best.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

My God, the media is digging deep these days, business must be so bad...l

-24 ( +3 / -27 )

When you pay the right amount of $ to the right people, you can do anything you like.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

@bas4 My God, the media is digging deep these days

The media are reporting a story concerning China and the US, about possible conflicts of interest and influence peddling that could possibly affect relations between the two empires. That's part of what the press can and should be able to do. Only those who want to restrict a free, for-profit press, especially those who favor a Trump-led power grab that would make him and his family richer while establishing an authoritarian reign led by Trump's corrupt family would question articles like this.

Curious that once again another GoTrumper can't defend their chosen one, only deflect.

22 ( +23 / -1 )

The Trumps are the kind of people who would go into politics with the promise of protecting American jobs while sending their manufacturing overseas and hiring foreign workers over Americans here at home.

Its nice to have a base that you can tell to turn and look the other way.

14 ( +16 / -2 )

This is beyond dodgy. The president's daughter getting ridiculously favorable treatment so that she can make more and more money on the back of her father.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It pays to be the president's girlfriend !

14 ( +15 / -1 )

“The president's daughter getting ridiculously favorable treatment so that she can make more and more money on the back of her father.”

Without knowing what her patent approval rate was pre-Presidency, how can anyone say it’s favorable treatment? I notice no facts in the article to back up the headline, as usual these days. Lots of maybes and mights, no facts. I tend to like facts and proof over pearl-clutching. Anyone know how often her other patents were approved?

“were arrested while investigating labor abuses at Ivanka Trump suppliers in China”

’Trump suppliers’ are GIII apparel, who also make Levi’s, Dockers, Bass shoes, NFL, NBA and MBL clothing among others. No complaints about the clothes you all undoubtedly wear every day, just Ivanka’s clothing line, although they are all made by the same company? No one going to dump their sports jerseys in protest of Chinese worker treatment? Give up their Levis and Gap clothing?

crickets

-17 ( +1 / -18 )

LOL!

Talk about trademarks that have absolutely no value..

As if anyone else is fighting to "steal" or "use" the "Ivanka Trump" brand name....

Well, except perhaps for some entrepreneurs looking to produce Ivanka Trump toilet paper or baby diapers :-)

5 ( +6 / -1 )

I have zero doubt there is a conflict of interest. The ZTE (and other) lax results certainly are involved.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Conflicts of interest, how shocking.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

My God, the media is digging deep these days, business must be so bad...l

Actual or perceived bribery, and actual nepotism. No digging required since Trump's criminality is in everyone's face. Trump eases up on ZTE is in no way linked, wink wink. Never before have we seen such a corrupt president. Nixon is an innocent schoolgirl compared to Trump.

Hopefully congress grows a backbone and strikes down commerce with ZTE. The only one for it is China and Donald Trump, because there are economic benefits for both. The country be damned.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

How about China is happy enough to help us denuclearize North Korea? That’s not just for the country but the world. It would be great if liberals could look at a big picture for once.

-19 ( +1 / -20 )

So why don’t you find out before you start your insinuation and partisan attacks?

"They come at a time when her father and his administration, in which she and her husband work, are making enormously consequential decisions with and about China," said Norm Eisen, the former ethics chief for President Barack Obama and a CNN contributor.

"The conflict comes because we do not know if the Trump administration is making these official decisions [on China] to benefit the US, or to get more trademarks and other benefits for the Trump family," he added.

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

So why don’t you find out before you start your insinuation and partisan attacks?

It is called actual or perceived conflicts of interest. Even if there is no conflict of interest, the perceived conflict is damaging.

Trump has made money on conflicts of interest. Now, he is in the ultimate position to capitalize on conflicts of interest.

It would be great if liberals could look at a big picture for once.

It would be great if you could look at the real picture for once and stop dismissing the law and common ethics only because it is convenient.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Workers rights being ignored. Human rights violations. Bluster and paying lip service to concerns about US jobs, whilst the Trump/Borgias get richer and fatter on the backs of the workers.

Reprobates.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

The president's daughter getting ridiculously favorable treatment so that she can make more and more money on the back of her father.

I would call it on the back of the american public, and considering Trump's switch hitting on ZTE, on the back of American economic and national security. Self-dealing? Trump: Deal Me In.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

The US is becoming a "banana republic". The parallels between fascism and Trump's presidency is undeniable. The Russians have gotten their revenge for the fall of the Soviet Union.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Let's MAKE a DEAL!

The First Family keepin' it crassy.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

How about China is happy enough to help us denuclearize North Korea?

Do you think the Chinese will demand more from Trump to stay happy? Maybe look the the way for other law breaking Chinese companies, maybe say nothing when they militarization another island?

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Who knows? How much is denuclearization of NK worth to the world? There has to be a limit to it but if someone named Trump actually makes some income in China, that’s fine.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Having Donald as president is the best that could have happened to the Trump brands.

Until it isn't. I'm in NY now and just visited Trump Tower; like me, most were there to document the peak before the downfall. The way Trump's family and all those close to him (particularly the Kushners) have monetized the presidency may not be illegal but is certainly crass and trashy. Trump's downfall will involve much collateral.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

There has to be a limit to it but if someone named Trump actually makes some income in China, that’s fine.

And there you have it folks, Trumpists couldn't care less about conflicts of interest, or the president using his office to enrich himself.

Question Black: You said there has to be a limit, but what is that limit? $500 million? A couple more trademarks? Removing US forces from Asia in exchange for Chinese Yuan? Where do you draw the line, Black?

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Not my decision to decide the maximum limit. I’m saying a couple of trademarks for Ivanka Trump (who is not the president) would be worth it. Even if that is what this is, which it is NOT.

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

Not my decision to decide the maximum limit. I’m saying a couple of trademarks for Ivanka Trump (who is not the president) would be worth it. Even if that is what this is, which it is NOT.

Jesus, listen to yourself. NK declearizaton is worth letting Trump sell out all other US interests for his own personal gain? This is so much worse than the swamp of bought politicians he was supposed to drain. He's practically flaunting it, and you're still defending him.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Not my decision to decide the maximum limit.

You said there should be limits, where are they?

I’m saying a couple of trademarks for Ivanka Trump (who is not the president) would be worth it. Even if that is what this is, which it is NOT.

How do you know they aren't? Unless you are part of the Chinese government, you couldn't possibly know that. It looks pretty suspicious just after the ZTE deal. What kind of message does this send? Screw America, the Donny and fam are open for business.

Remember when Obama sold copies of his books to foreign countries by making US embassies to buy them while President?

Of course I don't. No one does it didn't happen. Not anyway like how you claim:

1) The books were NOT sold to foreign countries.

2) Obama did not make embassies buy those books. They were purchased using the same standard procurement procedure all other purchases are made through.

3) Those books were worth $70,00, imcomparable to the hundreds of thousands in IP rights and $500 million loan Trump ventures received.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

It’s not even what he is doing. The article says they don’t even know! So I said find out if that’s what he is doing first and then write your partisan attack articles.

Ivanka Trump is not Donald Trump, remember?

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

So prove the President is doing something legally wrong related to his or his daughters business FIRST. Then use the law or Congress to stop it. If it’s not illegal, pass a law to make it illegal.

Then you can have your partisan attack articles mad that someone named Trump who isn’t president might get to continue their business they had before their Dad got elected.

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

Then you can have your partisan attack articles mad that someone named Trump who isn’t president might get to continue their business they had before their Dad got elected.

You act like she and her husband weren't given roles in the administration. Let me guess, she just fetches coffee?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Ivanka Trump is not Donald Trump, remember?

No really? I had noooo idea. ;)

Ivanka is just Donny's daughter. The only reason she's there is because of her last name (see nepotism).

Then you can have your partisan attack

Oh, I can and I don't need your approval either.

No one named Trump is allowed to make any money doing any thing with any one. While donating their salaries or working for free.

I thought Trump was giving away his salary, because he just wanted to make America 'great" again? So, you're upset the Trump's are being called out for using public office to enrich themselves? ;)

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Everything an issue if Trump can be blamed

Well Donald Trump is a proven scammer with his fake university. And we both agree he’s a confirmed liar.

Only a fanboy would look at that situation and fight to keep himself in the dark.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

And yet Trump called Hillary 'crooked'! Clearly he has yet to learn the meaning of the word.

Setting up his little gal in a toytown business might have been OK when all he was doing was running his own fake private scams. But it is definitely not OK now.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

black label: "Who knows? How much is denuclearization of NK worth to the world? There has to be a limit to it but if someone named Trump actually makes some income in China, that’s fine."

And once again Trump show who little they care about the Constitution and the nation when it serves their interests, screaming about "god given rights under the Constitution" one minute, then saying, "Who cares?" the next when it's their guy committing the crimes. It's just like the evangelicals like Pence who scream LGBT are going to hell, but Trump's philandering, divorces, coveting of his neighbour and his own daughter, and every other sin under the sun and suddenly it "makes him human" and is okay.

These people don't love their nation, they spit on it.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

People are tired of made up drama.

People are tired of the lies and obfuscation of truth by Trump.

People are also tired of the fake indignation and willingness to let anything slide by Trump supporters.

Trump was right when he said he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue. He's been doing that on a daily basis.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Well the press is destroying their own credibility in their haste to “get Trump”. At least 5 things this week that were incorrect but still used to attack Trump.

Plus the “free press” is now following orders from Chuck Schumer about how to report the news as it relates to spygate.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Well the press is destroying their own credibility in their haste to “get Trump”

Quite alright. The press never had any creditability to Trumpists anyway.

At least 5 things this week that were incorrect but still used to attack Trump.

What specifically was incorrect in this story?

Plus the “free press” is now following orders from Chuck Schumer about how to report the news as it relates to spygate.

No idea what you're on about, but how is that different than Fox and Trump?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

how to report the news as it relates to Xgate.

It doesn't exist.

So, it can't relate to anything except to a fantasy and to some heart felt feelings.

Don't worry, Trump will invent a new Xgate for you soon after this latest one dies, probably by Wednesday or even Tuesday in the U.S. when Americans realize cadet bone spurs wished everyone a "happy" memorial day.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

China has to buy thrashes and create thrashes to balance the Sino-American trading commerce?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Bait and switch Don strikes again.

Nothing suspicious here.

Carry on.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Oops. Trash, not thrash!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

The media are reporting a story concerning China and the US, about possible conflicts of interest and influence peddling that could possibly affect relations between the two empires.

Ok, so if you want to be that critical, then you might as well close Washington down, because it’s awash with foreign money.

That's part of what the press can and should be able to do. Only those who want to restrict a free, for-profit press, especially those who favor a Trump-led power grab that would make him and his family richer while establishing an authoritarian reign led by Trump's corrupt family would question articles like this.

Wow, Lol! I’m just curious why you lefty never said or thought like this years ago...oh, wait, because you don’t have a liberal President now.

Curious that once again another GoTrumper can't defend their chosen one, only deflect.

I’m not defending Trump, I’m just simply asking a very simple question, one that supposedly smart liberals seem to think they know the answer to, so where is it and now what? Trump goes to jail? Ivanka goes on the rack? Kushner gets the axe? If nothing happened t Hillary, you can bet your bottom dollar this will blow over in a week or less than that.

I have to admit, the left has a lot of stamina.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

Well the press is destroying their own credibility in their haste to “get Trump”.

What credibility? That boat sailed a loooong time ago.

At least 5 things this week that were incorrect but still used to attack Trump.

And as usual, like Teflon, it didn’t stick. Griffen and Zucker are pulling out their hairs...wait, what hair?

Plus the “free press” is now following orders from Chuck Schumer about how to report the news as it relates to spygate.

The only people listening to Schumer is Schumer, maybe Spliff....

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

I have to admit, the left has a lot of stamina.

The daily news about the Leader of the clowns will boost the stamina of the 'left' even more. And when more Republicans around the Leader get out of breath the end will come near :)

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I’m not defending Trump

Hello in there, bass. Tell me, what color is the sky in your world?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

This smells very swampy.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Hello in there, bass. Tell me, what color is the sky in your world?

Clear, minus the liberal fog floating around.

The daily news about the Leader of the clowns will boost the stamina of the 'left' even more. And when more Republicans around the Leader get out of breath the end will come near :)

Hasn't worked so far, but as batty as the lefts policies are, go for it. The gap is closing, that blue wave is starting to look more like a blue droplet. Lol

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Clear, minus the liberal fog floating around.

Think you're mistaking swamp gas for common sense.

as batty as the lefts policies are, go for it

Son, if I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times... liberals aren't the left. They are centerist, at best. The left have been excluded by both the Democrats and Republicans. For now. But Trump and his family will ensure that all changes.

This will be his legacy - the rise of proper people politics. The days of exploiting workers in China and the US are numbered, as long as the dire dynasty continues on their path.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Think you're mistaking swamp gas for common sense.

Which the left seem so desperately devoid of....

Son, if I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times... liberals aren't the left.

Well, they’re not the right and they’re no sane.

They are centerist, at best.

ROFL!!

This will be his legacy - the rise of proper people politics. The days of exploiting workers in China and the US are numbered, as long as the dire dynasty continues on their path.

Yeah, uh-huh. For the haters, yeah, he has some legacy already, I guess, but you can make that same statement about any President, some you’ll like and some you won’t. I have my share of disdain for certain Presidents as well.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Well, they’re not the right and they’re no sane.

Every single liberal and person on the left is "no sane"? Across the world?

Please explain the insanity of, for example, Leo Varadakar and James Connolly. And what their political differences are/were. No googling.

ROFL!!

The differences between Repubs and Dems is negligible. Which is why the US is stuck in a rut and the people will remain restless. Continue looking inward and embrace your isolationism, by all means, whilst exploiting people the world over. That's a balancing act that won't last.

The status quo that both liberals and conservatives try so desperately to maintain will come unstuck.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Every single liberal and person on the left is "no sane"? Across the world?

I am talking about Americans, what ever happens outside of the US or what people think is No concern of mine.

The differences between Repubs and Dems is negligible.

Huge difference.

Which is why the US is stuck in a rut and the people will remain restless.

And frankly always will be.

Continue looking inward and embrace your isolationism, by all means, whilst exploiting people the world over. That's a balancing act that won't last.

As long as you and I are on this planet it will, after that it won't matter either way.

The status quo that both liberals and conservatives try so desperately to maintain will come unstuck.

Good luck with that.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

I am talking about Americans, what ever happens outside of the US or what people think is No concern of mine.

This is happening in China (and the Philippines). Evidently it is a concern.

What the Trumps do outside of their fiefdom is of concern to everyone. The greed and exploitation that is exported to other countries has consequences.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

This is happening in China (and the Philippines). Evidently it is a concern.

To whom?

What the Trumps do outside of their fiefdom is of concern to everyone.

Gosh, I only wish you felt that way about other US politicians and previous Presidents.

The greed and exploitation that is exported to other countries has consequences.

I repeat, the left and the non-Americans didn't care a few years ago about these claims and now they are having a complete meltdown. Personally, I find it extremely funny.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

To whom?

Well, you're commenting on it, so it's a concern to you. Otherwise you'd not be here... um, commenting on it.

Gosh, I only wish you felt that way about other US politicians and previous Presidents.

Plenty of them I certainly do hold in low esteem. Many of them have made the world a charnel house but Trump's misadventures abroad are the focus for now.

I repeat, the left and the non-Americans didn't care a few years ago about these claims and now they are having a complete meltdown. Personally, I find it extremely funny.

People have been speaking out against greed and exploitation for centuries. The ancient greeks, the Diggers, Tolstoy, the revolutionaries, Orwell,. I suppose you find it funny because you perhaps aren't familiar with history? That's a shame.

Labour abuses in China are the latest in a long, long line of taking advantage of the ordinary people.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Well, you're commenting on it, so it's a concern to you. Otherwise you'd not be here... um, commenting on it.

Commenting doesn't equate to being concerned, like enjoying watching sports doesn't mean you have to participate in playing them.

Plenty of them I certainly do hold in low esteem. Many of them have made the world a charnel house but Trump's misadventures abroad are the focus for now.

Ahh, ok, like the new flavor of the week.

People have been speaking out against greed and exploitation for centuries.

And guess what, it will never, EVER go away, as long as we "want and yearn" greed will always be with us.

The ancient greeks, the Diggers, Tolstoy, the revolutionaries, Orwell,. I suppose you find it funny because you perhaps aren't familiar with history? That's a shame.

More than you know, but I still think it's hilarious.

Labour abuses in China are the latest in a long, long line of taking advantage of the ordinary people.

That's been going on for years and years, so what else is new?

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Commenting doesn't equate to being concerned, like enjoying watching sports doesn't mean you have to participate in playing them.

Trump saying one thing about China and doing something else, his daughter exploiting the workers... this is sport to you? Surely not. And yep, Mr bass, you are participating. Unless this whole conversation is a figment of my imagination... ye gods, I hope so.

Ahh, ok, like the new flavor of the week.

Er, no, like the actual President in a long line of US Presidents who have either taken advantage of, interfered with, maimed and disfigured other nations. Just the latest incarnation of rampant capitalism.

More than you know, but I still think it's hilarious.

Hmmm. Do you really mean this? And you wonder why the US is often so maligned, with that crassness ... Oh, it's ok to work Joe Bloggs into an early grave and put the family on welfare, in debt, kids into social services because greed is great and other countries and their peoples don't matter...

Can I ask, if you are so familiar with history, why not throw caution to the wind and comment on any of the historical figures or situations mentioned? History and context are relative to every single occurence on the world stage.

Nepotism never ends well. Neither do conflicts of interest. And this whole shebang in China is writ large for all to see.

I loved the movie Wall Street and I love Capitalism and all it has to offer and if other people don't like it, no one is forcing them to live in a capitalist society, I and everyone around me that I know and are friends with benefited from it as did my parents and grandparents before them.

Hmmm. Do you really mean this? And you wonder why the US is often so maligned,

I really don't wonder or care actually. I only care about America and Americans.

with that crassness ... Oh, it's ok to work Joe Bloggs into an early grave and put the family on welfare, in debt, kids into social services because greed is great and other countries and their peoples don't matter...

Sorry, it may be sad, but I was born in a capitalist country, I don't like to see starving people, but I can't go around helping everybody. I work hard so that I don't have to be a statistic, I learned that at 9 years old.

Can I ask, if you are so familiar with history, why not throw caution to the wind and comment on any of the historical figures or situations mentioned? History and context are relative to every single occurence on the world stage.

Tangent

Nepotism never ends well. Neither do conflicts of interest. And this whole shebang in China is writ large for all to see.

Again, in a few weeks, it won't be on the front page because the left will dig for some other nonsense to whine about when it comes to Trump whatever outrageous looney thing that is.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

The media didn't tell Don Jr. to coordinate the release of documents stolen by Russia, then lie about it.

The Trumps make their own bed. Blaming the media for investigating and reporting on the lies of Team Trump isn't a credible position. If they didn't get caught lying so much there wouldn't be the same level of interest.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

The media didn't tell Don Jr. to coordinate the release of documents stolen by Russia, then lie about it.

This is true. But DTJ is not his father. No one told Comey and Strzok and McCabe to lie either.

The Trumps make their own bed.

Not really, the media is trying to make it for them, they are so overly, obsessively consumed with rage by this man, they have lost what little integrity they had left. Even when I was at msnbc years ago, the left were nutty, but nothing like you see today, they are completely unhinged.

Blaming the media for investigating and reporting on the lies of Team Trump isn't a credible position. If they didn't get caught lying so much there wouldn't be the same level of interest.

No, if the media didn't lie on them as much, we all would have more peace. Does Trump stitch the truth sometimes, he does, does the media go overboard with lies and fabrications on anything they can find on this guy, without a doubt, credibility shot. But I know the business, Griffen and Zucker can't swing those ratings, so digging they go and they keep coming up with mud.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Trump gets free, front page coverage of his unsubstiantiated conspiracy theories on Fox News. The American people deserve better than what the right wing media is doing.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

I only care about America and Americans.

Your Leader would correct you on this, not the one in DC but your other nationalist leader.

America is for some Americans :)

Your Leader would correct you on this, not the one in DC but your other nationalist leader.

I was talking about only Americans.

PTownsendMay 29 07:07 am JSTIvanka Trump's brand continues to win foreign trademarks in China and the Philippines, adding to questions about conflicts of interest at the White House,

When trumpster took over the WH there was a link leading to her fashion website - ALREADY a conflict of interests! Not only that but Donnydouche is committing gross human rights violations. He's having children at the Mexican border separated from their parents and over 1400 are 'missing' as of last year. The fascist regimes of Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil had these 'disappearances' during the 70s and 80s. Spanky Don is a FASCIST himself.

So define Americans in your view....

hold in previous post were stating that China annoyed because they're being left out of the denuclearize process, yet Kim visits China regularly ,

It would be great if liberals could look at a big picture for once.

we are looking at the big picture , unfortunately its all of Trumps immoral corrupt practices that drown out everything else, totally of his own making.
