This is about oil. The Chinese rely on Iran for 15% of their oil imports. Moreover, China has been investing heavily in the country as it looks to lock up resources for its growing economy. State-run Chinese oil firms are now thought to have deals worth over $100 billion with Iran. Russia and China aren't yet at the point where they'll be willing to cut off oil and gas investment in Iran.

Self-righteous ranting is more a trait of Americans who have never hesitated to lecture other nations about the superiority of the American way.

China knows better. They looked around, and eventually adopted European Marxism. And only 60 million peasants had to die for Supreme Leader Mao Tse Tung.

In case you still haven't heard, they have since adopted western style capitalism. CCP now stands for Chinese Capitalist Party.

China and Russia, and in the past the Soviet Union, have always opposed any measure or proposal from the U.N. that would harm even the tiniest bit their interests. Or they would just do it to spite the West. It's the way they are wired.
