Jack Cafferty has more cajones then most of the leaders on the hill, democratic and republican. They're too afarid they'll cut off their/our fountain of loans.

I think that was quite unprofessional and uncalled for. No problems with calling China's government for what it is, but there's a right way and wrong way especially for a major news organization. Have some professionalism.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Finally! Someone with the cojones to call it how it is.

They are basically "goons and thugs", and I'm sick of their crappy products and the loss of manufacturing jobs to China. We need to boycottt heir products and any companies who outsource jobs to China.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I fully support what Cafferty said because it`s true.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Finally, greenteaonsens, show your hatred to China and its people and that will do you good.

Cafferty, even if he really meant China not the Chinese, is going too far. America is still in Iraq. I don't know if he has ever called or will ever call his country or hispresident, most of his congressmen and two out of three presidential candidates those names.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

rjd_jr...Glad we disagree again -- because you totally miss the point here. I happened to see this segment as I was getting dressed for work. First off, Jack cafferty is NOT a news person, per se. He is on CNN to voice opinions. He is there to say things like this to make people think, and not just get spoon-fed politically correct pablum, like all J-news programs. He is supposed to be controversial. And, he attacks American politicians just as bluntly. Second, as noted, he was NOT speaking about the Chinese people, but their leaders. And, respectfully, he is right in his characterization. They are "goons and thugs". Just as assuredly as the J-leaders are dullards and weaklings. I completely agree with the other posters. Just too bad that Bush is so beholding to the Chinese that he can't be as blunt.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'm watched Cafferty before. I'm guessing he's called a dozen governments the same thing, including his own. It's just not that big of a deal. Get over it, China.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

To be fair to Mr. Cafferty, that is his style. On the other hand, I've watched him quite often over the years but can't recall him calling names on his own government.

For every comment, there is bound to be follow-up comments. Why does China have to just get over it if they see it as tip of the iceberg?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

We Chinese shall retaliate to this despicable comment by launching an export of shoddy goods and tainted pet food such as you have never received before, and as usual the will be gobbled up by a gullible American population that is only interested in cheap goods.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wow, someone at CNN said that? I'm surprised Barry Obama is not chastising the reporter, too. Get ready for Mr. Kowtow in the White House. It sounds more like something Bill O'Reilly would say, however being a lapdog for the administration, the Chinese would burst a blood vessel at that comment coming from a Fox News commentator.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Bill O'Reilly and Lou Dobbs are mean, biased and absurd, while Jack cafferty is funny with a good heart.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

whatever11...You can't have watched much of Jack Cafferty if you have not seen him lay into: Bush for the debacle in Irag; Cheney for being Cheney; various U.S. governmental bodies like the FDA; or the U.S. Congress. I can recall him doing almost all of the above in just the past month. Along with snide remarks about all the major presidential candidates. As mtt says, he is sarcastic, in a positive way, not mean.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It's almost laughable when some smart pants think they can ACTUALLY boycott China. hmmmm, let's see.. Throw away the laptop you just used to post your comment, part of the Pentinum DuroCore is manufactured in China, or maybe the memory card, maybe the keybord.. Don't watch TV anymore, the plasma display, or the remote control is assembled in China.. Dump your car and start walking, it has parts made in China. wait, you may need to take off your shoes too for the same reason...

Seems there is a hundred million percent possibility you can't do what you say. Don't like the cheap goods in WalMart? Fine, don't buy it. Somebody else will, I will.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Jack Cafferty should be ashamed, the Chinese Media would never even think of saying bad things about the American government!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

“We continue to import their junk with the lead paint on them and the poisoned pet food and export, you know, jobs to places where you can pay workers a dollar a month to turn out the stuff that we’re buying from Wal-Mart.”

Well they might think that they continue to import treasury bonds/dollars with green ink on them that might become junk any day and poisoned securities too and export, you know, daily necessities at cheap prices to places where you go on a spending spree endlessly without saving and invest or even are forced to invest by having loans. It's not so bad for Bush or anyone on the hill to be not as blunt.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

...well, China, if the shoe fits . . .

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I still feel that there is too much antagonism going on about China and this will cause the Olympics to be postponed and could lead into other major problems ..... So what is next?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Chinese at home and abroad have denounced Western media for what it said was slanted reports about the unrest in Tibet.

Poor choice of words.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The man is exactly right about China. The joke is that the US is also run by goons and thugs and what produces a lot of junk. Wonder if he would have enough of the round ones to say that on CNN.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"The joke is that the US is also run by goons and thugs and what produces a lot of junk. Wonder if he would have enough of the round ones to say that on CNN."

And then there is the joke that is you, living not in China but Japan, America's closest ally in Asia. Your taxes, Ms Colmar, help fund American "hegemony."

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Good news, CNN has apologized according to reliable news source i.e NHK

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Cafferty got it right the PRC leadership fits the description. I seriously hope no appology will be forthcoming.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

China compared to the other superpowers have a very peaceful history in terms of invading. Who is the US to say anything when they stole the southern statsfrom Mexico, killed off the Indians. England and France has stolen and occupied countries all over the globe. The only country China has invaded is Tibet. But if China does not occupy, Russia, India Pakistan or terrorists will occupy intead. Perhaps China is actually a model country, high growth and a low crime rate. Better than living in a so called "free society" when you are scared of getting robbed or killed daily.

The world is getting smaller as the decades go by and it is a beautiful thing.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Shame on western medias and those ignorant, pompous, shallow jerks who knows NOTHING about what really happened.

CNN and CBC are just about the biggest liars I have seen. Fabricating false stories and manipulating images.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

As long as the US go has been an independant country, there have been people calling the President, or his staff; Aholes, Idiots, SOBs, Dkheads, Thugs, Terrorists, Bastards, Perverts, and many more.

Some have even called the President of the US Satan himself. Not to mention pictures of Bush with a Hitler moustache or horns.

All this in public domain. I wonder how long someone would last in China if he did the equivalent.

How long would a "Michael Moore" last in China?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Geez... if everyone got a nickel for everytime Xinhua used the term "imperialist" or some other derogatory adjective or noun of another country (or its leader)...

yawn<<

When the topic is China and denouncing anything about China, we are talking about China and its suppression of its people across the country and within the country. When speaking of the US and western nations it is fine to bring up invasions and matters that affect others around the world but it is not about the acts against their people within their own nation. The fact is that China is seen as the leaders, as Jack Cafferty described as goons and thugs, against their own people. If some people in China are satisfied without having a voice in their future, all fine and good, let them support those that only tarnish the image of their country by supporting the few that rule using brutal force among other things. To the outside looking in, China's leaders are goons and thugs as reported by Jack Cafferty and it is a shame those here(in this post)that wish to further China as a world leader can not stand up for the dignity of the individual Chinese themselves.

But again if wanting to look out further than China, we could look at Dufur, and others China stand with on the issues. Seems like all stances when it comes to the leaders of China is about human rights abuses and the sponsoring and support of

0 ( +0 / -0 )

we are talking about China and its suppression of its people across the country and within the country.

This accusation cannot be further from the truth. Your people are completely brainwashed by the media. You know nothing about China, yet you think you know, how pathetic!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Why do Chinese fear CNN's opinion so much? It's one channel. Americans, even many of those classified as "poor," have hundreds to choose from.

Chinese are still way too Confucian in this respect. Grow up.

Sooner or later China will have to choose - do they want democracy or do they want a silly, essentially medieval Confucian state dressed up to look like a modern and equal player among the G8 nations and the like?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sorry. Meant to say "thugs and goons."

I am an America, but one person does not represent the whole of America.

Perhaps China is actually a model country, high growth and a low crime rate. Better than living in a so called "free society" when you are scared of getting robbed or killed daily.

Why be scared of such things? Move to a different place then! I live in America and I am not scared of such things. Why live in fear?

I bet that CNN were telling Cafferty that he had to go on assignment to China and he did not fancy it - he certainly won't get a visa now!

To Chinese people - follow my example and never watch CNN. I haven't watched it for years and do not miss it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

For this I actually support China upon. Caffety wakes up wondering who p*ssed in his Cheerios every morning, and expects news hounds to listen to his daily whine. To me, he's the most irritating MSM commentator.

He needs some Prozac and a hug!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"To Chinese people - follow my example and never watch CNN. I haven't watched it for years and do not miss it."

I read Xinhua all the time. It's important to know what the official CCP stance is on everything even if it's absurd proganda. I'm sure the Chinese govt would also like all Chinese people to not watch CNN and stick to the Chinese news that blacks out and censors whatever the govt doesn't want them to see.

I wonder how much China pays these people to come into forums like this and scream about an anti-bias?

The footage is not cooked. They call say the bias is from "the west", but not all the footage is from the US, or "the west". Footage is available from other media that shows the exact same thing. Is the ENTIRE world editing their footage to show an anti-China bias?

And here's the tricky part? Is everyone, all over the world, editing the EXACT same footage to show the EXACT same thing? Yea, what are the odds that manipulated footage, but different people, is gonna result in the exact same footage? "Hey, what a suprise... I inserted a guy with tan pans and a blue shirt hitting the exact same guy as you did..."

Get over it.... the images displayed are the truth.

China has an immense history of doing whatever it wants and then when it gets seen by the outside world.... they deny, accuse and whine about how everyone hates the poor, misunderstood, Chinese. Their statements will, 100% of the time, use the words "ignorance", "hostility" and "vicious"...

It would be almost funny if it wasn't so predictable. It happens EVERY time. You know what else? You can take "China" in the entire above post and replace it with "DPRK" and it is just as true.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"goons and thugs"... and you don't like it ?Want an apology? Let chinese people have free election to choose their leaders then we will discuss the matter later,OK?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

gmygmygmy...

I do not know China, people are brainwashed outside of China. I think this is completely oposite of the facts. The people of China are those that are restricted from news and events within their own country because of the self censorship by journalists and news organizations because they know the end results of what would happen to them if reports are not up to the regulations and censorship standards of the CCP. You do not agree with this statement??? Yes or no?

What is this stuff about "Beijing starts new ‘patriotic’ education campaign in Tibet" https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/front/archives/2008/04/22/2003409954

China launches education drive in Lhasa http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080421/wl_nm/china_tibet_dc_2

US seeks to block Zimbabwe-bound Chinese arms http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080421/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_zimbabwe

This is just of the last 24 hours of what many want the world to stay blind to.. I do not know China…. or is it that you do not know China or just wish to keep a blind eye to what China is about when it comes to what leads the people in thought and mind with in China?

The truth is that the leaders of China are a bunch of goons and thugs and it should have already happened that the people of China come well aware of their demise as a society. The society of China has been shaped by these goons and thugs. Jack Cafferty hit this nail directly on the head. This is the truth and many know it very well but are afraid to come out and say it openly, but it is known well around the world. News does not come from one source and the sources are not ganging up on China as you wish to try and project some scenario of such. Facts are facts and when we look at China we look at China by taking into account the facts that quietly are stated and addressed by commentators, rights organizations, independent agencies and government officials from all around the world that also have the intelligence reports handed to them from within their own security networks. It is not all just ganging up on China for the hell of it, it is trying to establish the facts of what China is inside. Like the outcome or not, it is the truth based on facts not some view seen through some rose colored glasses. All that does is empower those that are keeping the people of China under thumb. It is very displeasuring to see the outside always being the one to bring good to the people of China and those that live it have to stay silenced with out a voice. That is what I see as PETHETIC! Is that the word you used?

It's wonderful that Olympics will be held in China soon. China is so much focused by West. Which implies many guys are interested in China,if you want know China, just go there and feel real China, and then you'll exactly who's telling truth. Western distorted coverage on China only make Chinese be more united.

Obviously, some western media are fighting a losing battle, reading Sunzi Tactics before smearing China, don't simply regard China leardership be boons and thugs.

I strongly suggest those Anti-China guys read below Thirty-Six Strategems (三十六計),you'll benefit greatly.

The 'goons and thugs' comes out of the mouth from someone, no doubt, who was born and raised in a country that is the perfect example of democracy. It also comes out of the hole of someone wearing a set of goggles focused on a very narrow perspective. Furthermore it comes out of a foul hole. If CNN has any self respect, which I am beginning to doubt, they should get rid of this character.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

You want an apology? I'll give you one!

...sorry, for my country saying that! It was "really" mean of us!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Apology. Sorry if the truth hurts..
