China demands apology from CNN after commentator calls Beijing 'bunch of goons and thugs'

Jack Cafferty has more cajones then most of the leaders on the hill, democratic and republican. They're too afarid they'll cut off their/our fountain of loans.

I think that was quite unprofessional and uncalled for. No problems with calling China's government for what it is, but there's a right way and wrong way especially for a major news organization. Have some professionalism.

They are basically "goons and thugs", and I'm sick of their crappy products and the loss of manufacturing jobs to China. We need to boycottt heir products and any companies who outsource jobs to China.

Cafferty, even if he really meant China not the Chinese, is going too far. America is still in Iraq. I don't know if he has ever called or will ever call his country or hispresident, most of his congressmen and two out of three presidential candidates those names.

He is on CNN to voice opinions. He is there to say things like this to make people think, and not just get spoon-fed politically correct pablum, like all J-news programs. He is supposed to be controversial. And, he attacks American politicians just as bluntly. Second, as noted, he was NOT speaking about the Chinese people, but their leaders. And, respectfully, he is right in his characterization. They are "goons and thugs". Just as assuredly as the J-leaders are dullards and weaklings. I completely agree with the other posters. Just too bad that Bush is so beholding to the Chinese that he can't be as blunt.

I'm watched Cafferty before. I'm guessing he's called a dozen governments the same thing, including his own. It's just not that big of a deal. Get over it, China.

To be fair to Mr. Cafferty, that is his style. On the other hand, I've watched him quite often over the years but can't recall him calling names on his own government.

China compared to the other superpowers have a very peaceful history in terms of invading. Who is the US to say anything when they stole the southern statsfrom Mexico, killed off the Indians. England and France has stolen and occupied countries all over the globe. The only country China has invaded is Tibet. But if China does not occupy, Russia, India Pakistan or terrorists will occupy intead. Perhaps China is actually a model country, high growth and a low crime rate. Better than living in a so called "free society" when you are scared of getting robbed or killed daily.

When the topic is China and denouncing anything about China, we are talking about China and its suppression of its people across the country and within the country. When speaking of the US and western nations it is fine to bring up invasions and matters that affect others around the world but it is not about the acts against their people within their own nation. The fact is that China is seen as the leaders, as Jack Cafferty described as goons and thugs, against their own people. If some people in China are satisfied without having a voice in their future, all fine and good, let them support those that only tarnish the image of their country by supporting the few that rule using brutal force among other things. I read Xinhua all the time. It's important to know what the official CCP stance is on everything even if it's absurd proganda. The footage is not cooked. They call say the bias is from "the west", but not all the footage is from the US, or "the west". Footage is available from other media that shows the exact same thing. Is the ENTIRE world editing their footage to show an anti-China bias?

And here's the tricky part? Is everyone, all over the world, editing the EXACT same footage to show the EXACT same thing? Yea, what are the odds that manipulated footage, but different people, is gonna result in the exact same footage? "Hey, what a suprise... I inserted a guy with tan pans and a blue shirt hitting the exact same guy as you did..."

I do not know China, people are brainwashed outside of China. I think this is completely oposite of the facts. The people of China are those that are restricted from news and events within their own country because of the self censorship by journalists and news organizations because they know the end results of what would happen to them if reports are not up to the regulations and censorship standards of the CCP. This is just of the last 24 hours of what many want the world to stay blind to.. I do not know China…. or is it that you do not know China or just wish to keep a blind eye to what China is about when it comes to what leads the people in thought and mind with in China?

News does not come from one source and the sources are not ganging up on China as you wish to try and project some scenario of such. The 'goons and thugs' comes out of the mouth from someone, no doubt, who was born and raised in a country that is the perfect example of democracy. It also comes out of the hole of someone wearing a set of goggles focused on a very narrow perspective. Furthermore it comes out of a foul hole. If CNN has any self respect, which I am beginning to doubt, they should get rid of this character.
