ok, we're sorry, it was not our intention to interfere in chinese domestic affairs. but it was your citizen that came to us. and why do you suppose he came to us, rather than trust you and seek justice at home? could it be because you support countries like north korea and iran who brutally suppress their own people. or how you acts in tibet? or your persecution of your own people who voice their opinions? maybe its because of the way you try to bully other countries in the south china sea? how about your enforcement of intellectual property laws? we can't imagine what possible reason he could have had not to trust you? in the future please do something to convince your citizens not to call on us with your domestic affairs. then there would be no problem.

Time for China to start growing up, its getting harder & harder for them to keep the people in line.

Not sure how long they are going to be able to keep their own people under their thumb, they arent happy & are showing their displeasure more & more.......

Chen Guangcheng is "normal " human being with huge courage and enormous conscience,. The fact that he is looking to America for help will make people LOVE U.S.A even more. Why it must be America? Why not ? and who else?

Yea sure, when monkeys fly out of my.... Looks like the Chinese government is under the mistaken impression that the US forced Chen into the US Embassy. The Chinese need tio give us an apolofy and surances that such incidents will not recur. But of course that means they need to stop persecuting their own citizens as a starter...

Since China is holding so much of the U.S. debt anything the U.S. says to China will just be barking with no biting.

Very interesting. Locke is very highly respected amongst Chinese as a Chinese-American; his shepherding Chen effectively places Chen under his protection. Chen will be on a plane to the US for "medical reasons" along with his family within a few days. That wasn't his hope, but staying in China is unreasonable.

I only hope those more peripherally related, who are not able to escape, are taken care of as well.

Frank, the amount of American debt China holds is irrelevant. The US didn't ask China to buy it; the US doesn't ask China to hold it - China could sell it all off tomorrow and swear off it forever if it chooses - but it won't because it has no other choice unless it wants to devaluate its holdings, appreciate its currency, and have no other realistic option for its foreign reserves. It is China that holds the weak hand here, as anyone even slightly familiar with their internal chaos is aware.

So, no: Chinese debt holdings have nothing whatsoever to do with how the United States approaches China.
