Page one in the dictator handbook, arrest all of your enemies.
Fighto!
There is a high likelihood Xu will be tortured and executed. ANY criticism of lifetime Emperor Xi and his Communist gang of thugs results in this. Its how the Chinazis keep hold of power - instill mortal fear in the entire population.

In other words, anybody who goes to China and says one thing they don't want to hear can be arrested. Why would anybody want to go there?

ive read this tactic before, is it the Chinese way of shaming the person to destroy their Name and credibility ?

Let me tell you a story.
During my time in Beijing, I went with a chinese Beijing citizen friend at night to a restaurant for dinner.
And I brought up the topic: Tibet.
And I started to talk in a normal voice about Tibet, but my friend at once stopped me and urged me to keep my mouth shut.
I asked, why?
And he was looking around the restaurant and said, that there is a possibility CCP members, chinese army or police are inside the restaurant and they will put us into prison, just because we talked about Tibet.
Can you believe that?

How can it be "freedom" when it's tightly controlled
That is an oxymoron if ever seen one, lol

Make a false story and use it as an excuse to arrest or kill. Hey, this isn't exclusive to China.

The WHO finally admitted today that China never told them about the coronavirus.
They found out from the internet.

Horrible to live in a country where you are afraid to say what you think. I would never go to China.

The CPP is a truly ugly regime.

China will lock away everyone who will criticize Xi according the Corona Virus.
You know why?
Because China want to hide the truth! China don't want the world to know that they engineered that Virus in one of its laboratories.
Released by accident or on purpose...this question is still open.
The latest "Outbreak" at an meat market at Beijing was just a trick from the CCP to keep the attention from the world away from the real reason for the outbreak.

And to think many 'westerners' want to further undermine what's left of their fading democracies and replace them with systems even more authoritarian ala those found in China, Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, etc.

It is pretty easy to avoid talking about the Thai king.... he is not omnipresent and directly involved in politics like the CCP in China. And at least the previous one was well respected across the population. Hopefully the next one will be too.
Really no comparison to the CCP, which has no intention to die or abdicate.

Tricky question. A lot of Westerners flock to Thailand every year, though they can get a lengthy jail time there if they say anything inpolite about the Thai king. But they do not complain about democracy in Thailand.
