Looks like squid games the poor buggers!

Since Xi has no problems being "re elected" by the people, who never elected him in the first place, he can treat the "cattle" as poorly as he likes with no fallout. Ahh to have absolute power for life over every person in your country, must be a sweet feeling for Jinping.

It matters not if Chinese people die of starvation, or untreated medical conditions and lack of medications. As long as they dont die from Covid it's all good in China.

Poor souls do look like penned cattle. What video does get out is of people obviously reaching a boiling point:

screaming at the top of their voices in rage, kicking out fences, teams rapidly redeployed to re-bolt down the fences, drive metals screws into windows and doorways from the outside.

What’s next? Armed troops?

Here's a video the CCP recently blocked in all of their social media. It's a compilation of different conversations people had during the lockdown, including that one of voices screaming for food.

According to the author, the video was made to remember what they (citizens) went through during the lockdown. Buuuut the censorship CCP saw as an inspiration to rebel and now the family of the guy are afraid for him.

They have no choice. Whatever vaccine program they had these last 2 years, most of it's effect probably already worn off and even that cannot protect them against this variant. So their only option is to intensify their lock down and hope it still works. The officials are too afraid to tell the public that their vaccines might not work and if it allow to spread, many will die.

I wouldn't believe anything you read about China being reported .

Obviously its very bias .

@Kyo: Do you mean don't believe anything you read inside China or outside China?

Yes, Chinese state media censors heavily - what Putin is doing now, Chinese state media have already been doing for a long time

The zero-COVID strategy is failure writ large. Not going to happen, ever. Citizens are being "tortured" and starved for no benefit.

China's virus policy is a "magic weapon for preventing and controlling the pandemic",

No it’s a convenient excuse for more brutal totalitarianism.

It seems to me the city lockdowns would never be ended. COVID are mutating forever.

One guy was saying "the Virus won't kill you, but starvation will."

He is right.

Communist magic eh? That's a new one. Most dictatorships trend towards becoming giant prison camps. China is almost there.

While I don't know a great, perfect, answer to fighting COVID, I do know that locking down an entire building due to 1 person testing positive is crazy.

I also know that over testing isn't good and that having people packaging the test swabs not wearing masks or gloves isn't good. And reusing the same swab multiple times is not just unsanitary, it is gross. there are videos of each of these things.

The CCP Govt doesn't know how to say they've made a mistake. That's a problem. With all the tracking they do, certainly they can know which people came into contact with people testing positive.

https://youtu.be/8S02fwpuyYs - same swap in different people; no gloves, mask. People grouped closely for testing.

https://youtu.be/u6TCoWc_f-w - don't complain about anything related to COVID. That's illegal.

https://youtu.be/G6C6ZZHYL50 - people don't like lockdowns or being taken to quarantine centers.

https://youtu.be/E4Gu1hFSdwY If you don't have any food, perhaps this is good enough? Maybe not.

I'd like to be clear. I think the CCP-Govt can do better. I hope they do better.

This is too important, Chinese people's lives are not just being impacted. They are hungry due to the lockdowns and the govt preventing the entire food supply chain from working. Problems are to be expected, but it is as though nobody making decisions considered the real world impacts.

They need to do better. That's all.

China's virus policy is a "magic weapon for preventing and controlling the pandemic", Li Bin, deputy director of the National Health Commission (NHC), told reporters on Friday. "If we relax... and let the virus spread, a big number of people will be infected."

It has been proven in China, which has the lowest infection rate and covid related deaths, and also in Australia and New Zealand, that the zero covid policy is the best approach to minimize the number of infections; an obvious concept agreed to by worldwide experts in the field.

Australia, for example, pushed the zero covid approach until 80% of its population was vaccinated. A prominent Australian immunization researcher, for example, recognized the necessity of lockdowns in Victoria.

It has been proven in China, which has the lowest infection rate and covid related deaths, and also in Australia and New Zealand, that the zero covid policy is the best approach to minimize the number of infections; an obvious concept agreed to by worldwide experts in the field.

Both things are false. Hong Kong, Shanghai and from now Beijing prove the policy is unsustainable against the variants. New Zealand and Australia have avoided such disasters by adopting a much more scientifically based approach that do not need to sacrifice the economy and public health and have better results.

This is why no international expert recommends a zero covid policy since the appearance of the delta strain.

The Australian example is precisely the opposite of what China is doing, because it made a priority of vaccinating the vulnerable population in order of decrease and finally eliminate the need of lockdowns that can be more damaging than beneficial (and do not work with the variants) the CCP choose the opposite, letting a huge percentage of their population remain unvaccinated and betting it all towards lockdowns which have failed repeatedly.

China is in a losing battle against COVID thanks to its insistence of living on 2020, the good part is that this time its going down alone instead of bringing the rest of the world with it like when it let the pandemic run wild trying to hide the first cases and only made the whole world suffer the consequences.
