Genocide should be recognized and condemned.

Why don't we just recognize it for what it is? The Myanmar regime is waging genocide against the Rohingya (sp?) people, the Trump regime is kidnapping Hispanic children and separating + deporting Hispanics in the USA - legal, naturalized or not and he's committing hate acts against Muslims. Yugoslavia self-destructed in the 90s-00s because of hate, genocide, war mostly due to Slobo, Rwanda waged a genocidal war in 1994 against its Tutsis resulting in 1 out of 8 Rwandans dead, and yes to all you other posters - the biggest genocide of all time happened in the Western Hemisphere - against the Native American/First Nations/red man race and it still continues today. So the USA has a lot of room to talk!

Given the rise of militant Islam in many countries it is no wonder that China is concerned.

The Chinese dictators also murder many of the people in their internment camps and use their organs for transplants. This is what happens to those who "disappear" in China.

The weak will always be exploited it is the way of humans civilization. Sad reality for these people is that they can't fight back and without that there is little chance they will come out of this alive or intact.

We can at least avoid Chinese product.

Those that fly into buildings were once impressionable children.

Teaching the kids Mandarin will be helpful, but all the other stuff is just wrong.

What countries teach public schools using the unofficial language for the country?

If I'm in Spain, I expect the kids to be taught in Spanish. In France, French. In Germany, German. In Japan, Japanese. In China, Mandarin.

The US has traditionally been willing to criticize blatant human rights violations by China, but under the Trump regime's explicitly anti-Muslim policies and comfort putting innocent people in internment camps on the basis of their ethnic status, we've lost any credibility on that front.

One can wonder if the US of A, given their history of violating human rights abroad and domestically has any credibility on this issue in the first place :)

I had a classmate from that area. She left in the middle of a school semester because she was worried about her family. We were communicating regularly then she just vanished. I haven't heard from her in years. I have tried to reach out a few times since then, but she never responded. I hope she is ok. She is a very sweet and intelligent person.

Is nothing new. It’s been happening for years already. China has ridiculous high security in that area. Give it a few more years and those children will completely forget anything about islam and integrate into China.

Same with Tibet and many other places that has borders with other nations. These areas are very important to China because if give them resources and act as buffer zone against other nations. China will never let up these restriction, because it’s concern national security. These things will never change no matter how much we complain or hate it. Unless the West want to go to war with China. I doubt it. Because these things only come up whenever relation sour with other nations and once the realtionship get better, these human right violation will once again be ignore for awhile.

"Chinese government has built a network of internment camps in western China. In the past, we could have criticized this."

We can still criticize it.

Chinese government has built a network of internment camps in western China.

Was a time I was hoping China was heading in the right direction ... Whether Communist or Capitalist, unchecked power just can't tolerate dissent or nonconformity of any kind.

China has a rich soil at the territory of ethnic Uighurs for oil, gaz and metals. China want to exterminate the ethnic people and the muslim religion to the govt. possess all of those wealth. I know a friend who is from Uighur and he can't go back or even communicate the family there, I definitely support him to disclose all of that "main China" are going further to push the genocide actions.

Gotta love China.

Back in the '80s, I spent a month in Xinjiang and found the people to be most welcoming. I'd asked a local if it would be acceptable for me to wear one of their traditional, four-cornered, green-colored hats, and the reception proved 100%. There was even a girl I kinda fell in love with but never acted upon considering circumstances.

I always wonder what happened to her. She's likely married and with children - and where are they. Genocide should be recognized and condemned.
