Because China is irresponsible and refuses to engage in dialog on EVERYTHING. Lock them in now into any arms control treaty or it isn't worth doing.

With Russia's newly supplied enriched Uranium, this is a feasible project. Many of China's new ICBM silos were completed and they can be deployed to launch those warheads very soon.

By the way China and Russia should NEVER sign any arms control treaty with US. Like Hitler torn the peace treaty signed with Neville Chamberlain,the Americans has unilateral torn the SALT II treaty signed by Regan and Gorbachev in 1987. So what is signing an arms control treaty? Their so called arms control was a farce intentionally to buy time for US military industry to develop further lethal weapons aiming and threatened other countries. It was unwise to sign any or even discussion. Blinken will come to China bringing up this but the Chinese leaders will threw cold ice water over his face and kick him out of China airspace!

More irrational nuclear posturing from China who seem to think it is a great idea to waste resources better utilized elsewhere for their people, on nuclear weapons that will never be used. Following the mistakes Russia and the US made decades ago. Having over 400 is more than enough for deterrence. France and the UK, Pakistan and India, Israel have all had nukes for decades but see no need in have more than is needed for a credible deterrent.

It only takes a single warhead to destroy a city and kill the millions of inhabitants immediately and slowly for the end result.

The significant amount of money China investing in its military and its increasing aggression towards neighboring countries poses a major threat to global peace. China should be countered immidiately otherwise it will be too late.
