Maybe we can send him over to be embalmed and placed in the memorial hall in Beijing.

"From now on, it's the beginning of our rise and for the U.S. to go down."

Pretty provocative statement and it shows how people like Kissinger or Xi are not wedded to ideology or to the welfare of their people.

To promote "democracy" Kissinger supported carpet bombings and death squads and torture of leftist students.

Xi uses the trappings of Marxism while engaging in hyper-capitalist mercantilism , exploitation of 3rd world resources, creating burgeoning inequality and jailing socialist students.

They are both about the naked aggrandizement of power.

Hang on. On the previous article certain quarters were heaping praise on him and now they are doing an about face.

The usual consistency.

So, all opinions/articles on politics and issues should be consistent?

Sounds like Russia.

he will always remain alive in the hearts of the Chinese people as a most valued old friend

They will say as one.

Someone respected and admired that ruined his reputation by siding with a corrupt, law-breaking Repub President...

Sound familiar?

It's incredible to think that back then before the internet and social media Kissinger was on an overseas trip to Pakistan and was said to need a few days rest at a hill station in northern Pakistan. Of course during this time he flew secretly to Beijing to meet Zhou Enlai.

Simpler times.

a landmark visit by Nixon,

Who knows whether Kissinger/Nixon thought at the time that down the road that the trip to China would eventually further enrich their fellow Republican friends but hurt working class Americans (at the time mostly Democrats); The US and global ruling caste along with China's ruling caste have benefitted greatly from the Kissinger-Nixon US-China linkage, and that continues.

Allow me to rephrase. One plaudit that could be extended is last year he had the wisdom to comment on a certain conflict - particularly a way to sought it out - and to howls of disdain he was forced to walk it back.

Not to disparage the deceased, but what a mixed bag of nuts he was!

That's one reason he's liked in China.

Ask Tillertson, Sessions, Mattis, Kelly, McMaster, Cohn, Pence, et al....

They're real familiar with it...

Huge figure. I’ll never forget reading Christopher Hitchens’ brutal takedown of Kissinger.

Hitchens of course later went on to be a cheerleader for the Iraq bloodbath.

Another mixed bag on nuts.

No, they worked for the President that was a bigger crook than Nixon. They were all handpicked and called "the best" - until they weren't...

Interesting now how that script flipped, have to admit, didn't see that one coming.

The US and global ruling caste along with China's ruling caste have benefitted greatly from the Kissinger-Nixon US-China linkage, and that continues.

Under the Democrats now, the party of the elite.

No, they

oh then they wouldn’t be relevant to the discussion of Kissinger’s death, thanks for clarifying.

I know "Chiang Kai Shek" and his son hates Kissinger very much due to his betrayal of Taiwan's KMT regime but the Chiangs can only blaming themselves of their own corruptions leaded to lose the battle of mainland China and the victory of Communists in late 1949. Actually Kissinger was just pragmatic of geopolitical power balance and the advantages of using China to confront then USSR. The other two were Zigbignew Bresensky and Margaret Thatcher. All of them were anti Communist leaders of the West in 1970s, Thatcher stayed power until 1990 and she returned Hong Kong to China. So Kissinger was not that wrong from the beginning, strange times and strange politics!

Kissinger was a complex yet often correct diplomat. He angered many on both the left and the right

I can't say that I agreed with many of his policies, but he wisely negotiated many political difficulties.

Not saying he wasn't a scumbag, but he negotiated the Paris Peace Accords which allowed the US to exit Vietnam with dignity. Yes, dignity. Now bring on the irrelevant helicopter photos. That's not nothing.

Then why did the US forces not leave until May 1975, after the Koh Tang battles with Cambodia? And at least a few Marine men were 'left behind' to be massacred by those lousy super-Communist Khmers. Dignity? I think not.

Fershure. As a kid he fled the fascist Nazi Germany and later he openly supported the brutal Argentine fascist regime. And he was a friend of that scummy bastard mass murderer Mao.

Some hero he turned out to be. Good riddance to rancid rubbish.

You lapdog master Kishitda couldn't even be consistent with his position. Too much "consistency" for a nation that backpedals on their position. LOL!

That's Cambodia, not Vietnam. You can hate the way that incident went down all you want, but the crew of the Mayaguez was rescued. Also doesn't detract from what the Paris Peace Accords accomplished freeing US POWs in Vietnam.

And yet bombing still continued over there. It has become chiefly an air war at that point.

The Mayaguez was rescued thankfully. But that also shows that the Vietnam War was not truly over until May 1975. The war wasn't confined to just Vietnam, it was fought in Cambodia and Laos and Thailand too. And if some warmongers in the US (incl. Kissinger) had their way, it would've continued even longer - maybe into the 80s or even up to today. A total sham and a waste. And we still have learned nothing.

If Kissinger and Nixon wanted the war to continue, why did they negotiate the peace deal? Imagine trying to get the POWs home without that peace deal. It could have been very difficult without being able to offer the North Vietnamese held in the south in exchange.
