We must topple these dictators who have total control over people. There must be a revolution in all of these kind of countries. The people must stand up.

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" Santayana

May be the CCP wants the reserve the ability to repeat all atrocities they've committed.

Disgusting.

That brave dude standing in front of the column of tanks is a 20th century icon.

They might sweep it under the carpet but we won't.

Six universities have removed June 4 monuments that had stood on their campuses for years. Just before Christmas last year, three were whisked away within 48 hours.

Ah, CCP. If it was only as easy as taking down a statue. A person's mind does not forget because a statue is removed. History has recorded the event and it will be remembered forever.

Erasing history is the first step to repeating it.

Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it.

CCPs trying so hard to erase history but having the opposite effect.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour coming from the CCP and the world is watching.

Only a weak govt cannot stand up to the mirror of past attrocities performed by that govt. If you don't show it for all to see, the world knows you aren't sorry and are likely to do it again and again and again and again.

The CCP haven't learned anything. They've only frightened those good people under their thumbs, for now, to be afraid. Fear isn't a way to govern.

Scrubbing history is normal.

Just look at Palestine or the war crimes of dropping nuclear bombs on a civilian population. The lie that got the the West into war in Vietnam or the slaughter in Cambodia. Just a few examples of many.

But hey, you are right to damn just one country whilst ignoring all other examples.

If I did not know any better, I would think that we have been well and truly blinded by pure propaganda.

If you don't show it for all to see,

I was living in Osaka at the time and several Japanese TV stations played unedited, live videos of what was happening at Tiananmen, which was as brutal as anything I had ever seen; I wish I could forget what I saw. I can watch videos of police in Alabama and other US states where German Shepherds and other police attack dogs were sicced on Black protestors after the police and some civilians had clubbed and kicked them. A shameful reminder of race history in the USA, but still available to see for those who do not accept the mythical whitewashed version of the past in the US. China had been treated poorly by western nations and Japan in the past, and they will not let the world forget, nor should they, but covering up brutalizing their own citizens makes the CCP look like the totalitarian regime they are. But when the state controls media and information they can do that..

What's going on in China and Russia?

Worst inflation in over 40 years and getting worse.

Riots every other week.

Mass looting.

Riots.

Unprecedented income inequality. Like, Egyptian Pharaohs type inequality.

Rapidly growing poverty to compliment the above.

Rigged elections.

100s of political prisoners we know about. Probably 1000s or 10s of 1000s.

Forced medial procedures.

Increasingly authoritarian governments.

Censorship on an unprecedented level. In some parts, to even share alternative points of view is illegal!

and much more

Wait, is that China and Russia?

Agreed. Just like much of the Western world tries to erase what the Arab world has done to Israel.

China, Hong Kong scrub Tiananmen memories on anniversary:

Memories cannot be scrubbed off that easily.

One reckons the good thing Tiananmen event did was to successfully alert the authorities to close the rich-poor gap.

China did, finally lifted ~300 million poor to better life..
