I hope one day JAPAN can also learn that smoking IS NOT COOL! That those who smoke a lot will sooner or later be being it with lung cancer etc... BRAVO CHINA!!! What a breath of fresh air I feel when reading this news from big bro China.

I'll go one step further and urge all countries to follow suit and stop having Hollywood actors smoking in films.

No shooting guns in movies is a healthy example... I hope one day Hollywood/Chinawood/Bollywood and Japanwood follow Tibet`s movie industry, no smoking, no driving, no shooting, no (unprotected) sex, no cursing, no fighting, no junk food and no drinking.... just meditating and praying. We all need examples, we are lost sheep who wonder through the valley of darkness, tempted by the evil pleasures who are merely creations of our weaknesses.

Our great leaders Mao, Ping all smoked good made in China cigarettes. Now our current leaders smoke western capital taste cigarettes. That was why people get cancer and other problems. But we like American smoke with Chinese mouth and nose. ha ha ha

"the country with the largest number of smokers in the world"
Also the country with, by far, the largest number of men, women and children in the world.

China has a even larger financial stake than Japan Tobacco in promoting smoking because their state run tobacco company is a virtual monopoly. Because of the lack of insurance and proper health care people just died quickly from smoking related illnesses, in most cases without any treatment at all. And in the past the equation of high cigarette sales and low medical costs was very profitable for the government. Maybe now they figure they can't ignore the future costs, human and financial.

Japan will not change. Tax money from cigarette is more important for the Japanese goverment than peoples lives. Anti-smoking campaigners in Japan are dismayed at the government's decision to put economic concerns ahead of health worries.
