The Chinese have stolen their way to the second largest economy in the world. NO MORE FREEBIES CHINA!

Saw this coming years back. Student becomes the Teacher.

NO MORE FREEBIES CHINA!

Then presumably, "no more cheapies America".

3 ( +6 / -3 )

China had to steal from others to make what it has in the first place.  Pretty pathetic.  Even South Korea didn't have to do that and yet their most known Samsung electronics is pretty popular world wide.  Japan has Sony and JVC etc...  I can't name a single Chinese brand of electronics that is held in high regard.

The CCP pretty much said, "Uh... we stole from you, but you must believe our products are superior enough to steal from us! "

As long as the CCP suppresses free thought and the other basic requirements needed to encourage innovation in their own society (free speech, democratic rights, competent basic human rights, etc)  they'll never improve.

I'll never forget reading about how an individual in China pretty much stated, "the government is so busy restricting us, we don't have any imagination to innovate as much as we could.  We have to obey the rules they set for us, how can we go beyond that?"

The Us, yes, the US, of all place, guess what? Copied industries, machines and factories to kick start it’s industrialisation. Read up, understand your history Americans. Read about Francis Cabot Lowell, for one.

China is a country that wouldn’t lift a finger to help any other nation with the exception of NK.

So well said!! They are a country with a lot of people and its government says it's o.k. to steal from every other country. Just after you steal come back and apply everything you stole to make your country great!

A bit confusing! Are you saying that the so-called democratic nations (US) should dictate what form of government other nations have, what religion other nations are allowed, what from of human rights they have and what from of assembly they should allow?

Fundamental human rights should be given to and preserved for all people. Not wanting to treat with a nation that does not protect these fundamental rights for its citizens is reasonable for any country. It’s not forcing that country to do anything - the country can decide if the trade is worth providing those rights to their citizens or not. And let’s be clear, labour is cheaper in nations where rights are not present. This means those countries have a strong advantage over nations that enforce basic human rights for their citizens. So on an economic level, there is justification for including the rights of the people into trade discussions.

If China doesn’t like it they don’t have to come to an agreement. Conversely however, if America wants the agreement they may be sabotaging themselves with the inclusion of a dealbreaker.

there are over 100 american companies banned from doing business in china.

Human rights, freedoms for travel, speech, assembly, religion need to be included in all commerce discussions. It has been a 1-way setup the last 40+ yrs. No more.

China needs to join the democratic world for this to end as a win-win negotiation.

End social network "govt ratings"

End required govt tracking software installed on all phones.

Shutdown APT40.

We'll know changes have been made when Chinese companies refuse to spy for the Chinese govt and successfully achieve that result by suing the Chinese govt.

China may restrict access to their "high tech" like the secret to frying chicken feet...

0 ( +3 / -3 )

"China ... will never allow certain countries to use China's technology to contain China's development and suppress Chinese enterprises,"

It's just like a thief saying "don't steal" to others. CCP is really interesting.

Those who don't walk the same path should not be walking together.

A bit confusing! Are you saying that the so-called democratic nations (US) should dictate what form of government other nations have, what religion other nations are allowed,

No one is saying that, but for almost 100 years the people of HK enjoyed freedom, which is a fundamental right of all humans and ever so slowly since being returned back to China is eroding, that is unacceptable and you see that in the protests.

what from of human rights they have and what from of assembly they should allow?

Let the people decide.

And if China become a "democracy" will it also be allowed to dictate to other nations? A strange interpretation of "democracy".

China is a country that wouldn’t lift a finger to help any other nation with the exception of NK.

Don't you mean the UK enjoyed freedom to rule Hong Kong as it wished? I don't recall the people of Hong Kong having any say in things prior to 1998 (unless they were rich that is).

That’s not true. China, while being particularly aggressive on an economic and political level, just like America, is also generous and helpful. Evidence to that was seen here in Japan when the Chinese were some of the first on the scene to help after 3/11.

China provides a lot of economic support in the region as well.

If anything, it’s this generosity that is the scariest because it will lull many countries into complacency towards China, forgiving some of their more egregious actions. It’s human nature. Don’t think that people will forgive blatantly outrageous actions for personal benefit? See Trump.

I said: "Human rights, freedoms for travel, speech, assembly, religion need to be included in all commerce discussions."

That is what I meant. The rephrasing broke the meaning completely.

The Chinese govt prevented 23M tickets for travel from being sold because a "social score" wasn't high enough. https://www.theverge.com/2019/3/1/18246297/china-transportation-people-banned-poor-social-credit-planes-trains-2018

The Chinese govt has been sending people of certain religions to "re-education camps" - 1M is the estimated number https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2018/09/china-up-to-one-million-detained/

These things need to be included in the economic negotiations.

I have an issue when 89M people (PRC members) choose the govt for 1.4B people AND block any opposition from forming through thuggery.

Wait, are we talking China, or Trump?

China “helped” North Korea because the U.N. troops were at their border and MacArthur threatened many times to attack. It was to defend rather than to help. China wouldn’t lift a finger to help another nation.

China is creating a system to protect its technology, according to state media, as the U.S. restricts the access of Chinese companies to American technology in a spiraling trade dispute.

Another words the Chinese are gonna protect the technology stolen from the West in the first place.

ReturningGrace: "Those who don't walk the same path should not be walking together." Is this your definition of democracy? If you disagree with someone its because they are not democratic. Strange definition of democracy!
