"China had agreed to "reduce and remove" tariffs on cars."

They never would have without pressure.

They really do not care about US cars anyway... Their domestic production is growing and with their interest only in electric cars, they do not see much import from the US anyway. Even if they did increase imports, they require a monitoring system where the government keeps tabs on all sellers and buyers/users where surveillance goes beyond just imported cars. Trump just needed to boost the US auto industry's morale which has been failing for decades.

The key is that China needed time to recover from the devastation they face in all industries where national unrest may cause irrational action on the part of government. They also need the commodities that they could not produce enough in their own country. That is something which Trump wanted to adjust anyway for the US producers that lost a large portion of the Chinese market.

Trump wants "fair" and "honest" trade as well as compliance in and actually honoring trade and intellectual rights and secrets on top of preventing government sponsored internet hacking. That will be hard top come by.

Even with the rhetoric, actual actual positive action is doubtful on the part of China.

Trump is doing stellar job at this point on anything related to trade and tariffs. Early on people thought that these other world leaders would chew him up and spit him out. Instead he's chewing them up and and taking names.

Um, he ended up with the same deal with Canada and Mexico, just renamed, and he’s at a standstill with the EU and China not having gained anything other than shutting down factories in America.

Once again we see the right entirely deluded as to reality. Then they expect us to believe in their politically ideological religion, as if we’re going to believe in faith over reality.

Sure, Stranger, just make up stuff and post it. The new deals with Canada and Mexico are far better than NAFTA.

China is our enemy, don't be fooled. They manipulate currency and steal manufacturing secrets. Their goal is to replace the U.S. as the world's No. 1 country, economically and militarily. Trump understands this.
