What a crappy country they are stuck in.

China should be ashamed of itself, killing the Tibetans, Uighurs, regular Chinese protesting for freedom etc..makes me think of those riots in Chicago during the Democratic convention back in 68?
sabiwabi
Yeah, a peace prize to Vanunu is long overdue.

China remains a repressive, xenophobic, immature country. No wonder they are friends with the Kims.

The Communist Party of China make Liu’s wife looks just like Aung San Suu Kyi in Myanmar.

we allow this to go one because we exported all our jobs there, damn the consequences or "rights". Pretty sad world.

I think they are talking about Chinese dissidents and independent social activists.

What can you expect from a communist dictatorship? Many people seem to overlook the fact that in spite of economic reforms, China is still run by communists who rule with an iron fist.

Chinese government thinks that China is the number 1 and they can control the whole World. That is China.

Doesn't surprise me at all that China is doing this. I just hope that they are not torturing him to make a confession or to write some statement according to the likes of "I repent for my wrongs in the past".

Not surprising. I wonder, where are all of the "anit-USA" bashers on the board who say that the wiki-leaks is well deserved. It seems to me that the China that they all seem to turn a blind eye on is acting as usual.
No matter how bad things may get in the USA, this never happens. Imagine, just the idea that yo uimay attend an event is keeping people from leaving. I read in another story a Chinese educator that has been a pro-democracy type was not even allowed to leave Singapore, since his visa was flagged.

It has become clear that the Nobel Prize is given to further political aims and not to solve wars and conflicts. China is protecting its nation from foreign education that seeks to use other nations for enrichment of its people and to pay the government system.
The US founding fathers warned against Democracy. The holy books are against Democracy. The USA does not understand that our employment lifestyle has enslaved people for early schooling to old age and has polluted our air, land, water and food causing young and old to be diseased.
Peace is the absense of a threat of terror or aggression. We could easily turn to the land and live an abundant life of true freedom and solve the many world problems we cause quickly, easily, fairly and inexpensively. It is not peace or joy to be enslaved to one another or to use one another to gain riches.

And the Chinese global PR nightmare/embarassment continues...

Tired of China and its BS.I&'m sure Confucius would not advocate their tyranny as a form of control.
sabiwabi
Actually it does. But you don't hear it on the news much, and they certainly won't get a Nobel.

One day when China accepts multiparty rule, democracy and people like Liu are honored as true Chinese patriots.....China will be ready to be a "leader" among Asian nations. Until then keep dreaming.

@sabiwabi: Please provide an example of this. You can't travel if yo uhave criminal proceedings against you, and Americans have even toured Cuba (which has a US travel ban against it). So please give me an example of this happening in the US.

Anybody ready to make "a run for the border" to get INTO China? The empty chair is the message that the people in China will understand if they can see it on TV or other news. Where is the Chinese version of Assange when the world needs him/her?
