China's ruling Communist Party only wants the big picture of Mao Zedong and the Hammer and sickle to indoctrinate citizens their way. Much more the ruling regime avoid Taoism ( I recognize philosophy than religion), more the people won't understand what is the social morality of that real Chinese culture and traditions of remote times, where Japan, Taiwan and S. Korea preserve. A lot of wisdom Taoism has, Chinese people have to conserve the Tao behaviors in social life. That's shame people in China have lost the good manners of Taoism (except: HK and Macao). I think it is much important than the whole outdoor statues.

I've been noticing more and more how China is being positively represented in Hollywood films, and recently Chinawood films (my take on this as China is pumping more money into production costs and also making their own films, much like the US military so I guess I could say Militarywood as well).

I just don't like it how the Chinese government are trying to legitimize themselves in world opinion. China is not a democracy and should be treated and represented as such.

along with a push to study the works of one of communism's founding fathers, Karl Marx, who famously wrote that religion "is the opium of the people."

He also wrote in regard to religion that, "To call on [the people] to give up their illusions about their condition is to call on them to give up a condition that requires illusions."

In other words, better life conditions are required before people will give up religion. If you want to end religion, it's better to feed people than stop them building temples.

I totally agree, but at the same time, they are only as powerful as we make them and the Western world has made China what it is today and will cater to them and appease them No matter what when it involves $$$$ and all the western elites that have benefited and got rich off China will never rock the boat and China is the one smiling all the way.

China, under the CCP dictatorship is the biggest threat to the entire world in history. They have in a mere few decades mastered the technique of using their adversaries economically to weaken and leverage them, influence their thinking through propaganda filtered through the mass media and entertainment, while lying to the world about their strategic intentions. This wouldn't be so bad if they were a democratic country, but well, just read this article.
