Once again China bleating about passage through international waters.

It is ok for China to intimidate and threaten Taiwan but if anyone looks like they may be on Taiwan's side China has a good sook. Grow up China. As much as you expect and demand to get everything your own way, that is not going to happen any time soon.

China objects and the world has a giggle at China's expense. China making itself look silly, yet again.

We stand with you Taiwan, always and forever, against the imperialist and war mongering CCP!!

There’s a new Sheriff in Town; Boi.

We should all keep sending missles to Taiwan

13 ( +15 / -2 )

From the article is seems clear that the CCP took over the government of China.

Now this same communist party is driven internally and implacably to take over Taiwan regardless, despite the wishes of the Chinese and indigenous people living there.

Vile China at it again!!!

11 ( +14 / -3 )

Good to see the US and Japan backing Taiwan against the Chinese dictatorship. The people of Taiwan only want to live in peace with freedom.

14 ( +16 / -2 )

Hence, the reason for leaving Afghanistan. We need to keep a close eye on China.

We are here China.

Suck it up.

China once again having another pathetic tantrum.....

15 ( +18 / -3 )

I love it! Stay the course!

11 ( +14 / -3 )

China, shut up!!!

You beat me to it. Free Hong Kong! Free Tibet! Leave independent country of Taiwan alone!

U.S. severed ties to Taiwan in 1972 by Nixon and approved China as an only nation representing China. It was the time of the cold war and U.S. wanted China on their side.

China’s seemingly unquenchable revanchist appetite and the rogue behaviour its leadership believes has the greatest chance of achieving those goals is predicated upon the West’s misguided faith in the virtues of unrestrained capitalism and consumerism. If the muck ever does hit the proverbial, it will be shallow consolation to know that it could’ve been avoided had we not been so shortsighted

America cannot even take care of their own business and they want to mind our business. Have a life America.

LOL. The US never wanted or expected Communist China to "be on their side". Nixon's goal was to reduce the dual threat of the USSR and Red China down to just USSR. Which was seen as the far greater threat at the time.

If The US ever wanted Communist China to "be on their side" they would never have passed the Taiwan Relations Act in 1979 under which the US has continued to provide Taiwan with weapons to defend itself from China.

I serious doubt that. If you'd said we stand with you Americans, we will never abandon you, that might be more believable.

a self-governing island claimed by China.

This should read: 'the real China under threat by the the rogue state of the erroneously called "People's Republic of China" '

Just give Taiwan Nuclear weapons pointed at Beijing and that will be the end of Chinese aggression.

Good, the democracies of the world need to stand with Taiwan.

Looking forward to Taiwan playing a more important role in the world stage.

Can’t say it enough, great country, great people.

If your talking about the USA then please refer to the United states of America .

Its a United country of multiple ethnicities and beliefs systems .

Its called democracy.

This might not be the best time for the US to instigate China, as the US struggles and bumbles its way around the mess in Afghanistan.

The Peoples Republic should sail some ships an equal distance from the US West Coast in protest. It is international waters.

The only guarantee for Taiwanese independence from China is a credible military threat from the US. Sadly the way America is heading China will have its way with Taiwan sooner rather than later. America is suffering from an existential crisis and it’s losing. It is massively in debt and is at this very moment planning to add another ten percent to its debt. American citizens are increasingly coming to believe that despite all evidence to the contrary, the nation is built on a rotten foundation of oppression and white supremacy. Financially and culturally America will not be capable of supporting fellow democracies for very much longer. It will be lucky if American democracy itself still exists into the next century.

Americans become as much patriotic as Chinese when others point out their shortcomings. You do not know how much people of Taiwan were disappointed and shocked to hear sudden announcement of Nixon's visit to China. It was not informed to Japan either and it was called "Nixon Shock" together their unilateral cancellation of conversion of U.S. Dollar to gold.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

China would like nothing more than to declare the entire Pacific Ocean as theirs. Everybody has to join together and push back if they want to stop China's militarization of their neighbors' islands. If they don't push back, China's just going to keep on pushing the envelope. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain by such a strategy, whereas, its neighbors have everything to lose and nothing to gain by ignoring it.

Push back!

America is a continent of 35 countries !

The USA is the United states of America also known as United states.

So if your comments are talking about the USA when using the name America i suggest using the correct name for the country your talking about.

Or which American country on the continent of America you're commenting about.

12nm. That's the limit China needs to worry about.

Unless there was fishing by the US vessels - you know - like how Chinese boats travel the remote shores of many other countries to fish within their EEZs. Ask Chile, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Peru, and all the SE Asian countries about Chinese illegal fishing.

https://insightcrime.org/news/analysis/china-fishing-fleet-response/

On July 16, the Ecuadorian Navy issued a warning that a foreign fishing fleet of about 260 vessels was stationed just outside Ecuador’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ) around the Galápagos Islands and that naval personnel were prepared to intercept any vessels entering illegally.

By the end of July, the fleet had swelled to over 342 vessels, the vast majority Chinese-flagged or Chinese-owned.

America is the USA. Mexicans don’t refer to themselves as Americans and neither do Canadians, not that they’d want to, or any of the thirty some countries.

Merica, said in the way George W. Bush says it, is endearing.

quercetum:

Iam sorry that its difficult for some to understand the fact that USA is a country on the continent of America and the same as Canada is a country on the continent of America and Mexico is also a country on the continent of America.

There's 35 countries on the continent of America.

The news article that we are discussing is about the u.s. as in the United states of America.

And truth be told the indigenous natives of Canada and USA and Mexico do call themselves native Americans.

Also known as first nations people .

USA being a multiracial United country of states it is important to recognize that Americans are only the original inhabitants of the continent of America .

Yes that would be before a world map was made by the European discoverer who named the Americas perhaps you've heard of him.

Anyway- please accept my sincere apology for any previous , present or future comments i have or might make that make anyone feel uncomfortable.

It appears to me that the negative impact of the pandemic has resulted in adult commenting of bickering and squabbling like adolescents instead of having a meaningful discussion that is both constructive and beneficial.

None of us are immune to the helpful reminder as to the order of things. In this case geographical clarification concerning the Americas.

After all this is a news discussion intended to produce productive conversations and not a social media platform that anyone can vent their angst like Facebook.

Of course they would. But with the current incompetent regime in Washington, the CCP has nothing to worry about. They have already been warning Taiwan to look at the disaster in Afghanistan to remind them that the US is hopelessly impotent.

Who cares what the CCP says - only drones would buy what comes out of the CCP's mouth
