"from autocracy to democracy, and from closeness to openness": A nice Friday morning entertainment.

and media are pushing in the West.

When media outlets disallow posts like those above from flamers, maybe the flamers might be listened to by a few outside their far right bubble. But the reality is media outlets of all sorts continue to give alt right flamers forums to push the far right's mis- and disinformation.

Do not go to China. Whenever possible, do not buy Chinese products. "Democide" is their reality.

very much like neocon/neolibs, Big Tech and media are pushing in the West.

China,Iran, Russia, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia were omitted in the above. Many social media flamers are said to be connected with them. Either paid or voluntary.

very much like neocon/neolibs, Big Tech and media are pushing in the West.

The above an example of; Whataboutism (also known as whataboutery) is a variant of the tu quoque logical fallacy that attempts to discredit an opponent's position by charging them with hypocrisy without directly refuting or disproving their argument,[1][2][3] which is particularly associated with Soviet and Russian propaganda.[4][5][6] When criticisms were leveled at the Soviet Union.

Another failed global alt right' attempt to claim victimhood. Using media to whinge about a bugbear they call 'media', though They still have 8Chan and other places on the Internet, plus Rupert Murdoch's and Putin's various global media empires.

Britain did this in Ireland-look where that got us? Tibet people will rightly also resist this abuse of their own beautiful culture and language.

Time will tell but Xi Jinping seems intent on following Mao's repressive ways and in the process I think he will bring both himself and China into disrepute while doing grave harm to China's economy.

This is ridiculous. The return to Maoist ways is overused and equivalent to saying America is going back to slavery because there are white supremacists in the Republican Party.

Much like the “English only”movement to limit Spanish speaking in the US but different:

"This is a country where we speak English. It's English. You have to speak English!" Donald Trump often said during his 2016 US presidential campaign.

The call for an end to bilingual education in favour of language immersion programs in English in American public schools goes further than the CCP.

The Chinese are pushing for bilingual education, not to end bilingual education. Theirs is more along the lines of ESL for immigrants in the US for future work prospects.

The protests in Xinjiang and Tibet are against bilingual Ed and not the prohibiting of native language in schools.

Look at history. Aborigines in Australia were subjected to this, native Americans, Maoris, large parts of Africa, even the Auni the list goes on. So what else is new.

Because the US and Australia are free and open societies scholars, politicians, teachers and everyone else are free to study that history and learn from it. Both nations are well aware what they did to their aboriginal people was wrong. Those wrongs are freely aired in public and debated. Those nations are not perpetuating those policies are they? China seem intent on repeating the same mistakes the US, Australia, Canada and others made without even giving a second's thought to the outcomes of those policies while ruthlessly repressing any public discussion of those policies or dissent against them.

Time will tell but Xi Jinping seems intent on following Mao's repressive ways and in the process I think he will bring both himself and China into disrepute while doing grave harm to China's economy. I wonder how far the rest of the CCP rank and file will go along with his policies or if there will be an internal coup to depose him at some point when it becomes clear his policies are doing harm to China at home and abroad.

Murder of a foreign culture.

Cultural-cide.

Socialism is about sharing the wealth and equal opportunity for all. It is not about stamping out individual beliefs and assimilating everybody into one mindset, that is what fascism is. I hope the Chinese quickly realize that their socialist dream is quickly morphing into fascism.

Consequently, I think it's time the rest of the world started making plans to stop trading with China and manufacture their own things, as the way things are going it looks like China will not be changing course anytime soon.

Attacking the national language and imposing one's own is the most classic forms of domination and assimilation.

After annexation of Tibet, Mao had designs on the 5 fingers of Tibet - Sikkim, Ladakh, Bhutan, Nepal and Arunachal Pradesh (what the Chinese refer to as South Tibet).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_Fingers_of_Tibet

Mao might be long gone now but the greed of Chinese commie imperialist thugs still remains intact. Just that they refrain from speaking openly about it because 2 out of the 5 are independent countries which China wants to conquer by economic and diplomatic means, and the rest 3 belong to India which might be much weaker than China but still is no pushover which can be annexed without much fight like Tibet.

I'm calling-out the Chinese treatment of the Tibetans, (and their other aggressions), and I'm calling out the total ineffectiveness of the UN.....

So the 3 down-votes received indicate what exactly ?

Either someone thinks that both the Chinese and the UN are doing a good job, or the CCP agents are having a browse in.....

Strange.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Hegemonic, China has already annexed Tibet, built massive transportation infrastructure, and sucked out her life and soul. China calls it a fait accompli, but adds insult to injury with these latest exhortations.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Maybe Tibet needs to discover its home grown MIRROR to help them thru these troubling times.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

The main reason China feels emboldened to grab and subjugate Tibet and her people is that they know that there is no opposition whatsoever to tell them otherwise.....

Now, where's the World's Policeman when we need it, the monolithic United Nations, with their small army of vastly-overpaid and lazy administrators, who've managed to remain totally uninvolved in any of the 11 international disputes with which China is currently inflicting on innocent people.

China need to be told very loudly and very clearly: "Get your filthy hands off Tibet and it's peace-loving people, it's not your country, yours is big enough already. You are, and never have been, anything to do with Tibet."

All of the liberal-thinking and democratic Governments of the world should be constantly ramping-up the pressure for calling the Chinese officials to appear before the UN and told categorically to desist with their facile policy of pushing for global domination. Our elected Governments have to make the UN work for all the world's populations, as they're not going to do this involuntarily. The destabilisation which China blatantly represents has to be stopped quickly.

Just another good reason to despise the current Chinese leadership. Disgusting attempt to extinguish anything that makes Tibet unique. If Tibet was Chinese as the CCP attest, their native language and culture would have always been Chinese. It is not, has not been and if Tibetans wishes were recognized and respected, it would never be Chinese. In the end losing the Tibetans native culture is a loss for Tibet and for China.

It is one thing to invade a nation and subject it to your rule. It is many times worse to invade, rule and attempt to make them alter their main language and culture to your own at the expense of their birthright.

Teach your language as a second language if you must but do not try to forcefully replace who and what they are. CCP are nothing but contemptible.

Empires leave sovereign states alone.

from autocracy to democracy

As China's empire spreads, expect to read more CCP slogans like the above. Xi is becoming Mao-like, so the world's peoples , especially those living in parts that have been belted and road-ed, to carry with them a little maybe big, this time, book of vapid slogans.

Democracy? Mighty rich coming from an autocracy, where its leader is leader-for-life. Tibet joins the still growing list of cultures destroyed by a conquering empire. With China taking greater control over more areas as its Belt and Road expands, watch more cultures get swallowed up.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

My guess is that China is gong to more aggressively push its foreign policy agenda over the next 3 years (at least). Unless Joe challenges Xi to a push up contest.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Destroying culture is the only way the CCP think they can subjugate minorities. Xinjiang, Tibet & Hong Kong are under daily attacks, aimed at destroying their knowledge and their identify.

The Soviets tried the same with the Chechens and look where it got them!!!

Ah, yes. Pressure to obey, integrate, and not criticize.... very much like neocon/neolibs, Big Tech and media are pushing in the West.

So the Big Tech has imprisoned millions of right wing bigots? Please do point the source of this news as we need to fight to get these bigots out.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

A top Chinese official said Thursday that “all-round efforts” are needed to ensure Tibetans speak standard spoken and written Chinese and share the “cultural symbols and images of the Chinese nation.”

Ah, yes. Pressure to obey, integrate, and not criticize.... very much like neocon/neolibs, Big Tech and media are pushing in the West.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

Yes above, it’s not China, never was and hope never will be. The cultural destruction of Tibetan culture is obscene, a crime against all humanity.

14 ( +15 / -1 )

*“After 70 years of oppression, the only thing the Tibetan people need ‘peaceful liberation’ from today *is China’s brutality

I 100% agree!

12 ( +14 / -2 )

Tibet is not China. Hong Kong is not China. Free Tibet! Free Hong Kong!
