The Chinese are pushing for bilingual education, not to end bilingual education. Theirs is more along the lines of ESL for immigrants in the US for future work prospects.

The protests in Xinjiang and Tibet are against bilingual Ed and not the prohibiting of native language in schools.

Look at history. Aborigines in Australia were subjected to this, native Americans, Maoris, large parts of Africa, even the Auni the list goes on. So what else is new.

Because the US and Australia are free and open societies scholars, politicians, teachers and everyone else are free to study that history and learn from it. Both nations are well aware what they did to their aboriginal people was wrong. Those wrongs are freely aired in public and debated. Those nations are not perpetuating those policies are they? China seem intent on repeating the same mistakes the US, Australia, Canada and others made without even giving a second's thought to the outcomes of those policies while ruthlessly repressing any public discussion of those policies or dissent against them.

Now, where's the World's Policeman when we need it, the monolithic United Nations, with their small army of vastly-overpaid and lazy administrators, who've managed to remain totally uninvolved in any of the 11 international disputes with which China is currently inflicting on innocent people.

China need to be told very loudly and very clearly: "Get your filthy hands off Tibet and it's peace-loving people, it's not your country, yours is big enough already. You are, and never have been, anything to do with Tibet."

All of the liberal-thinking and democratic Governments of the world should be constantly ramping-up the pressure for calling the Chinese officials to appear before the UN and told categorically to desist with their facile policy of pushing for global domination. Our elected Governments have to make the UN work for all the world's populations, as they're not going to do this involuntarily. The destabilisation which China blatantly represents has to be stopped quickly.

Just another good reason to despise the current Chinese leadership. Disgusting attempt to extinguish anything that makes Tibet unique. If Tibet was Chinese as the CCP attest, their native language and culture would have always been Chinese. It is not, has not been and if Tibetans wishes were recognized and respected, it would never be Chinese. In the end losing the Tibetans native culture is a loss for Tibet and for China.

It is one thing to invade a nation and subject it to your rule. It is many times worse to invade, rule and attempt to make them alter their main language and culture to your own at the expense of their birthright.

Teach your language as a second language if you must but do not try to forcefully replace who and what they are. CCP are nothing but contemptible.
