This pandemic just shows how ill prepared all the countries were

Indeed. Not just those countries that claim to be great or leading the world.

The bickering and one upmanship has to end. We are all in this together.

We don't know how this all ends. We mustn't pool our information and resources together.

You keep repeating the same theme as if China indeed like you said. That is false. All nations utilizing China's data, and you should be thankful.

Are all your fellow citizens allowed post freely on international sites like JT?

Agreed.

Happy St. P’s Day.

This pandemic is a death blow to advocates of open borders globalism as it shows just how dangerous and deadly such an ideology is. We need to secure our borders and keep them that way.

It's great that we can still have a joke in times of crises.

Viruses don't discriminate and don't recognize borders, so all the right wing hubris is misplace, as ever.

Happy St. P’s Day.

And to you and all of us facing this confusing era.

I don’t know. They’re saying 50K of the 80K infected there have recovered. You can categorize coronavirus as death from pneumonia too; who’s going to verify?

Coronavirus cases in china don't adhere to the epidemic curve.

There was a peak, but then miraculously, no downward trend.

Obvious data manipulation. Why isn't the WHO on their case?

"Meant positively, not Walking Dead scenarios, I presume!"

Yeah, it was meant in a positive sense. This is going to get a lot uglier if it goes on much longer, so I'm hoping that this is indeed the beginning of the end. I don't want to get my hopes up too high, but I'm hoping that this is going to fizzle out and be forgotten in a short time.

Bull!

If this outbreak happens in Europe or America, it will get even worse. The government and their so-called "experts" would say the deaths is just a seasonal flu, or because vape.

It is happening in Europe and America. Have you been following the news?

And despite certain rubbish leaders trying to play it down, as far as I'm aware, none of them are saying it's just seasonal flu or "because vape".

Just look at how they handle this outbreak in the West right now, this miraculous bug really bust the myth of their political system "superiority".

Much like certain countries in this region.

The point is, the people are suffering whilst the leaders fail to protect them properly.

While Beijing is now trying to look good, to gain high-hand to the world amid the crisis, debate or "blame game" is going underway over the origin of Covid-19 between US and China. China argues that it had been "imported" while the US officials have called it China-virus.

I find the inquiry & debate missing the core issue; Wherever it originated, it is undeniable that Chinese authorities are chiefly responsible for cover-ups and negligence at the outset. Don't let them get away with criticism and punishment.

If the INITIAL outbreak happens there.

The initial outbreak happened in China.

Now, Europe is the hotspot.

Not sure what point you're trying to make here?

China reports just 1 new domestic virus case

Everything after "China reports" can not be take seriously. Why do the media pretend otherwise?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

How dare anyone doubt the veracity of statements made by Chinese authorities. We all know they are always honest and transparent. After all, they tell us so. LOL!!!

Let’s hope that this is the beginning of the end.

I suppose the origin is in China... And like many, the story that it probably came out of a military lab, by accident, is very plausible.

Why else would China keep it under wraps for almost a month and a half?

Pinning the blame on the US started quite later.

If it were from the US, as China says 'now', they would have started protesting long back.

@toasted hetic

With Trump studiedly calling it the China flu do you honestly think if China was hiding mass graves he wouldnt say something.

Also, you are right I am angry that people are being so unrationable, my wife has cancer and has according to the doctors an 80% chance of living 5years. She is waking up every morning, going to work and enjoying each day as it comes. While people are afraid of a virus which kills at the worst 3% and far more in younger people.

These same people are ripping the fun out of life and causing serious financial problems and trouble for many people.

Live your life, have fun and if you can't stop worrying about what could be don't make the rest of us suffer.

This is potentially very good news, in that it may mean that the 99% of Chinese whose covid status is unknown have in fact been exposed to it and developed immunity.

Hope so.

Authoritarian governments like China have disadvantages. Lack of freedom of speech led to not disclosing the initial outbreak. However, it seems it has really helped China avoid the worst case scenario. Being able to force people to do things like stay home, wear masks, avoid group interaction and especially monitor people's location and activities might be necessary if Western Europe and US want to avoid the worst.

Let’s hope that this is the beginning of the end.

Meant positively, rather than Walking Dead scenarios, I presume!

Still, some countries are panic buying weapons and ammunition whilst others are singing to their neighbors from balconies.

End days versus friend days.

Strange days, at the very least.

Since when should any government be trusted about anything?

Since there was government.

China made all data available to public, worldwide. Where is the wrap ? Chinese data are used worldwide in developing vaccines and antiviral drugs, you really should be thankful, instead of being immoral.

What's immoral is acting the shill for a regime that tried to cover up and silence medical experts at the start of the pandemic.

This shows the panic is an over reaction, and there is a good chance all will return to normal soon.

Regarding Olympics lets wait to May,

I am more interest in returning to a regular life first and formost.

The numbers may be fudged but clearly China isnt building mass graves in the woods to hide the dead or we would know. Which shows people are overreacting and not helping the panic by claiming this could go on for months.

I guess if you don't believe this then your probably reading the news whilst wearing a tin hat.

Since when should any government be trusted about anything? I guess if it makes people feel better to grip about China, Japan or Trump then as William Shatner once said “get a life!”

Take care of you and yours. Period.

Toasted Heretic, hahaha, why ? There are so many sites that Chinese people can express their views freely. You are not allowed to view those sites, are you ? Remember, China has the largest internet populations.

Moderator: That's enough bickering.

Jijitsu said "Why else would China keep it under wraps for almost a month and a half?"

Stop fooling yourself by repeating the same lies. To announce pandemic isn't as simple as your high school parties. It take WHO 3 months to do that, given the fact that China already clearly had hard numbers to show the fact.

China made all data available to public, worldwide. Where is the wrap ? Chinese data are used worldwide in developing vaccines and antiviral drugs, you really should be thankful, instead of being immoral.
