“This joint exercise is directed at demonstrating the determination and capability of the two sides to jointly respond to maritime security threats ... and further deepen the China-Russia comprehensive new-era strategic partnership of coordination,"

The Chinese will provide the damage control and water rescue training.

The Russians will provide the booze and the maps.

and further deepen the China-Russia comprehensive new-era strategic part

Putin and Xi are putting the world on notice that they are warmongers that want to have a redo of WW2, hoping this time their empire will prevail, and they can put larger numbers of people around the globe, especially those in 'western' nations under their joint command. Until one of the two dictators decides he does not want to share power, instead be sole global emperor. Putin and Xi seem to want to have WW3 end up destroying all life on the planet, saying that the fossil era has not done enough damage, they want to go full on nuke instead and have all life eliminated. Curious if they think their pals in Iran will go along, believing that by killing off so many infidels they'l get great rewards in the next life. How about Modi and his BJP, what will they get?

Great to see a multi-polar world happening in my lifetime. BRICS, Belt and Road…there is hope.

Bravo China!

Bravo Russia!

BRICS, Belt and Road…there is hope.

Ah yes, BRICS.... the thing they will crap if they ever get into a scrap with the West.

And this is the kind of moral equivalence bs we used to hear in the Cold War.

No, this isn't a 2-sides thing. No, they are not equally bad. Yes, there is a right and a wrong and they are on the "wrong" side.

At some point in time China's self admission that it's a strategic partner of Russia is going to make morally challenged corporates that do business with China very stinky to consumers and voters, and that hopefully means when Russia go back into the iron curtain, China will be joining it.

@eastmaansame thing.just drills.

Isn't that what Putin and Lavrov and others at the Kremlin claimed amassing tanks and troops at the Ukraine border was: just an 'exercise'? How's that turned out for the sovereign nation on the other side of the Russian border?

1 ( +10 / -9 )

No need to tell. All the news combined, my conclusion is that they are already in a permanent ‘drill’, announced or not.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Just normal self determined things that sovereign countries do. Not taking anything from anyone, not forcing anyone to do anything, not killing any foreigner.

There is non thing right/wrong about this.

Commentators who opine that its wrong, is like someone saying, "whatever i say/do is right, whatever you do/say is wrong". Of course, there are such people, such countries.

China says Chinese-Russian naval drills beginning Wednesday aim to “further deepen" cooperation between the sides whose unofficial anti-Western alliance has gained strength since Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

Russian forces have been greatly reduced since invading Ukraine so their alliance is actually getting weaker, not stronger.

Meantime NATO has two new members that really does strengthen that alliance.

Great to see a multi-polar world happening in my lifetime. BRICS, Belt and Road…there is hope.

The world has always been multi polar with good versus evil. I find it foolish to be excited that the evil side is getting together in China/Russia cooperation. It just means the world is that much closer to outright world conflict and evil is already decimating Ukraine for its own expansion.

Joint drills are normal as @Eastman has mentioned. The only difference is the Chinese/Russian side is the side of oppression, repression of personal freedoms and attempts to totally enslave billions of people for two or three people to prosper and maintain life long control. Unlike others I find that shameful.

In November, Tu-95 bombers of the Russian air force and Chinese H-6K bombers flew joint patrols over the Sea of Japan and the East China Sea. As part of the drills, the Russian bombers landed in China for the first time, and the Chinese bombers flew to an air base in Russia.

The unreported part is that the Russians landed in China due to a mechanical emergency and the Chinese landed in Russia because they got lost.

I hope that their Google translator Apps are accurate.

Hate to see a case of friendly fire there.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

It's not an 'unofficial antiWest alliance', both China and Russia are members of the official Southern alliance (SCO) and the unofficial Southern alliance (BRICS).

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Shame on the Chinese dictatorship for standing with the scum of humanity.

China-Russia navy drills to begin Wednesday

So these two countries are now cooperating and training for war. Now Japan needs to spend more on its military. The war machine has been turning ever since January 20, 2021. Funny dat! Meanwhile the MSM has been trying to keep the squirrel watching on some insignificant Jan 6 party at the Congress building.

Birds of a feather flock together.

China declared a “no limits” friendship with Russia just weeks before the invasion and remains a major customer for Russian oil and gas bought at a heavy discount, although it is not known to have sold military hardware to Moscow.

.

While the oil and gas is heavly discounted, China will remain a good friend.

I wonder if the price China is paying is more OR less than the $60 western goverments have said they would only pay ?

.

Ah yes the mighty Varyag, same class as the Moskva now promoted to submarine by a couple of not very high tech missiles.

The problem isn’t that these two are exercising together in international waters but the oppressive, autocratic and militarily expansionist colonial agendas of both countries that underly their exercise and the implied threat of aggression to their neighbours in it.

Yeah, but Joe's got that Build Back Better plan. By the way, what happened to that? Just watch the US-Africa initiative fizzle out too - Africans aren't stupid. They know the sort of tricks the Americans are up to. Pacific Islanders aren't stupid either.

Madverts:

Shame on the Chinese dictatorship for standing with the scum of humanity.

China is definitely not standing with NATO. (No Action, Talk Only).

These navy drills will soon involve the whole of the Global South.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

That is the result of the lame military trials of the League of Boy Scouts of the west..

TokyoLiving, I do so hope you enjoy living in an oppressive dictatorship like russia or the workers paradise of freedom that is the CCP version of China as you so obviously loathe the idea of living in a free, liberal and approximately democratic society.

What’s even more ironic is he’s claims to be a high end real estate agent. A communist living in a capitalist world..

Doesn’t that translate as hypocrite?

China has much more in common with Russia than it does with the EU or U.S.

Time to say, "Shove off!"
