"alleged"?

Boycott China !

Cast them off !

Disentangle yourself from them !

Disengage them !

If you have company representatives there who are not chinese nationals bring them home now while they can still leave, before they become political hostages.

The Commies can sanction as much as they like. Only the most desperate nations want to continue doing business with them.

There is ZERO doubt that Muslims are being put into the worst concentration camps since Nazi Germany, summarily executed and being forced to work as slave labor. Any company or individual who does business with China should also be punished and sanctioned. Yes - including Apple, TESLA, Toyota, GM etc.

Human rights know no boarders. All Beijing understands is pain. Give it to them.

Beijing insists Xinjiang is an "internal affair"

Genocide. You can’t expect people to ignore it.

The CCP's version of propaganda resembles a sugar-charged 2-year-old with a bullhorn. Plenty of activity, lots of noise but no sense whatsoever. Who will they denounce next?

All the westerners have sanctioned what is going on in east Asia.

All the westerners have sanctioned what is going on in east Asia.

China is not all of East Asia. As much as they would like it to be.

Any nation or foreign company that has relations with Communist China is an accessory to genocide of Muslims.

Simple as that, no ifs, no buts.

World must sanction entire China and all it's people, they are all complicit!!!

Because of China, I have purchased the lowest quality socks imaginable. Never buy socks made in China.

Well, according Joe Biden, who was asked about it in his town hall, it is just a "cultural difference".

So yes, if you have enough money, plenty of things get ignored.

LOL. A little slap on the wrist. The world can not turn without China. They already won and China is winning everyday. Do I like it? Hell no. In ten years Mandarin will be a required second langue discipline in schools. Watch and see. The end of currency is coming or the way we use it in our daily lives. Or the way we use it daily. save it daily. Spend it daily. Do not comply? Virus city buddy. That's the future.

There is only two ways to deal with China. Eliminate the current government and put the people in control.

Two. Well. I think we all know and its not pleasant thing to think about. Japan was the only country to survive or be attacked by such weapons.

If you wanted to set China back? Needed to stop them ten years ago and China's global spy network.

Its a lost cause. No country or its leaders has the courage to stand up to them and do what needs to be done period. (coordinated).

Sanctions are a joke on China. They could care less. On to the next.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

It reminds me of state-sponsored boycott and vandalism across China following that the Senkaku islands were nationalized. The mindset hasn't largely changed since.

With shops closed, many local employeed fired or furloughed, all is self-choking and ordinary Chinese people will end up suffering, not businesses. Cheap nationalism is despised.

Western liberal democracies and those who are moral and live under the rule of law have criticised and brought the oppression and genocide in to the light of world media and sanctioned a few of those responsible for these crimes. The CCP mafia running China respond by attacking anyone who criticises or questions their actions. Indicative of the corrupt and oppressive rule of the CCP is that they sanctioned Essex Chambers, a group of self employed barristers who gave an independent legal opinion on China’s actions, shows the CCP’s view on an independent judiciary, they do not like it and the very idea scares the life out of them.

Without doubt the only sensible reaction of any business that has until now sought to sell in to or has sourced supplies from China is to disengage and shift their sources of supply elsewhere. Else there staff will be hostages to the CCP and their reputation in any other market will increasingly be damaged.

Well argued. I will like to see a social media campaign threatening to boycott/attack corporations like Apple, Toyota and TESLA gather momentum IF they do not provide a roadmap for their complete withdrawal from any dealings with China.

Boycott ALL products made in China. Anyone who does not supports genocide.

Of course when 'they' sanction us, it is out of spite, but we, the allies and supporters of the last surviving Apartheid regime, the people stealing money from Venezuelans and Iranians for electing governments who stand up to us, the folks who literally bombed North Korea flat without caring that we were targeting hospitals and houses, and then blamed them for the conditions that caused, when we sanction someone, it is right and moral and has nothing to do with racism or trying to keep economic dominance.

Come on now big business I have been TELLING you all now for over 2 decades & counting to START removing your investments from china!!!!

Corporations' life blood is money, green bucks. They have no allegiance to countries. They even make massive profits in the US and hide it offshore to avoid paying a penny in taxes.

For the profit , they pulled out of the West to make more in China.

For more profit, they bribe Western governments using lobbyists for rules to be bent in their favor.

For profit, they also pay billions to both Republican and democrats parties to elect a president of their choice.

Too much of profiteering has turned the once glorious US into a decrepit place, unemployment is up there, poverty and homelessness, poor infrastructure, poor education standards and Americans are being directed to look at China. This is the democracy in the US which it wants China to have?

China has been on the up and up. Since the revolution, the great leap forward , the famines and everything bad you've heard about China then, China with its I-dont-dare-pronounce system of govt has made unmatched progress in which in a few years it's going to surpass the US economy, but that system is not " democratic", in this case, meaning not being pliable to Western standards of govt. even when it has worked marvellously for them, but isn't it their democratic right to choose their way of governing ? Must the West force-feed their democracy to everyone ? Before this concept of Western democracies, weren't there polities in existent that just did ok like China is doing now ?

*Beijing insists Xinjiang is an "internal affair"* Anything inside of Chine they claim its an internal affair so their thought is to oppress people anyway they chose and say it is no other countries business to tell them what to do. China put sanction on anyone they know they can bully, if any of the smaller countries sail through the so called China sea they bomb them, or chase them out, but when the US or Australia sail through they file a complaint. China always "WARN" big dog bad breath and no teeth. The world will soon see China as a big threat and they are doing everything they can because they know the war of words will no longer be tolerated.

The US oligarch-controlled media goes on and on about 'forced labor' in Xinjiang. The US prison system, by far the largest in the world, dominated by private prisons, pays prisoners $10-$20 per MONTH for slave labor jobs! K Harris, vice president, prevented prisoners from being released from jail after completing their sentences because California had a contract with private prisons to provide a minimum quota of prison slave laborers to the private prison companies.

It's a big mystery why the UK is very vocal about protecting the human rights of the Uighurs in Xinjiang, CHINA ... BUT on the other hand supports Beijington’s policy of violating the human rights of the sovereign Taiwanese people by excluding and barring Taipei from the WHO!

London should also sanction Beijington for its policy of isolating TW!

But why is the UK so silent about China barring TW from joining the WHO?

Why?

Any nation or foreign company that has relations with Communist China is an accessory to genocide of Muslims.

Simple as that, no ifs, no buts.

Here is the practical and moral drawback of breaking diplomatic relations completely. Once your diplomats, who include political and intelligence analysts, and other technical specialists, have left China you no longer have a window into the country. Your diplomats can't talk to people on the street, to local politicians or to the national leaders if you no longer have diplomats in their nation. There is no good substitute for the ability of your Ambassador to meet in person, speak to and size up the host nation's leadership. Without those embassies you are then making policy in the blind. Even at the height of the Cold War the US and other allies kept embassies in Moscow for the simple reason that those embassies became funnels for information on current affairs in the old USSR to their respective governments, informing their leaders and their policies towards Moscow. The same is true today with China. Another thing to consider is western embassies bring our message to China, not just their leaders but to people on the street whom they meet, rent from, buy their groceries from etc. Your nation's diplomats living in town among the locals and traveling around on weekends are goodwill ambassadors for your country and counter the ugly messages about your country coming from the host nation's government.

London by free choice refuses to give democratic TW diplomatic recognition to please Beijington.

Can any human rights lovin folks explain such a monstrosity?

It's pretty simple actually. Taiwan has not declared itself to be an independent nation. Instead the Republic of China government in Taiwan claims to be the only legitimate government of all of China. To the ROC government, the CCP is not the legitimate government of mainland China. For both Taiwan and PRC, the Chinese Civil War has not ended, Taiwan has not declared independence knowing that would immediately lead to a highly destructive attack by the PRC.

For decades the US, UK and others refused to grant diplomatic recognition to the PRC and maintained the same position as Taiwan that the ROC was the only legitimate government of all of China. The US initiated the changes that led to the world recognizing the PRC as a means to take pressure off NATO. Keep in mind at the time the KMT ruled Taiwan every bit as harshly as Mao ruled China and the KMT was modeled after the Soviet Communist Part. Chiang did after all live in the USSR for a time (his son lived there 12 years) studying their political and military system and during the Cold War was dealing with the Soviets secretly hoping to convince them to fight the PRC. I remember back then having no sympathy for Taiwan and viewing it as just another obnoxious dictatorship that made the US look really bad. When the old USSR saw Mao becoming close to the US the Soviets had to keep very large forces on the Chinese border as a hedge against China attacking the USSR. This is against a backdrop of great hostility on the part of Mao towards the USSR when the thought of a Sino-Soviet war was considered quite possible. So the west triangulated China against the USSR to take pressure off NATO. It worked. That Mao was replaced by a leader interested in capitalist development of China was sort of a bonus. Everyone crossed their fingers that "engagement" would bring China out of oppression as it appeared to be doing with South Korea and later Taiwan and maybe a more democratic mainland China and Taiwan could come to terms with each other without war or acrimony. In fact that looked extremely possible all the way through Hu Jintao's administration.

Human rights know no boarders. All Beijing understands is pain. Give it to them.

Sanctions work and they can kick them where it counts. Remember how Little Steven wrote 'Sun City' which led to a UN boycott of South Africa and the eventual end of apartheid in that country. The UN imposed sanctions on Libya in the late 80s that led Qaddafy to pay compensation to the surviving families of his tewrroristic pranks around the turn of the century. Remember when Russia interfered in Ukraine and Obama slapped sanctions on Russia that were in effect until his racist usurping sputnik successor took over and kissed Putin's butt.

Fighto!Mar. 26  04:18 pm JST

Any nation or foreign company that has relations with Communist China is an accessory to genocide of Muslims.

Simple as that, no ifs, no buts.

Sanctions and expulsion from the UN were placed on Serbia-Montenegro in the 90s as well for starting up the violent Yugoslavia breakup wars and the Bosnia genocide against Muslims. And the UN needs to do the same to Myanmar for what they're doing to Rossignyas. Rwanda's genocide was inexcusable and what TrumpTurd did to Hispanic children is a gross international crime in itself but nobody sanctioned the good ol' USA, did they?

I don't give a fig what anyone says, Human rights abuses and genocide are inexcusable and it's everybody's business. And economic, cultural, diplomatic boycotts and sanctions can and do work, sooner or later.

he US oligarch-controlled media goes on and on about 'forced labor' in Xinjiang. K Harris, vice president, prevented prisoners from being released from jail after completing their sentences because California had a contract with private prisons to provide a minimum quota of prison slave laborers to the private prison companies.

Tulsi Gabbard: “She kept people in prison beyond their sentences to use them as cheap labor for the state of California.”

The facts: It’s false to say Harris kept prisoners incarcerated beyond their sentences. Lawyers in Harris’ attorney general office did unsuccessfully argue against the early release of prisoners, citing needed inmate firefighting labor — but Harris said they did so without her knowledge and publicly criticized the statement at the time.

In September 2014, attorneys for Harris argued in a court filing that the state should not free some prisoners as part of efforts to reduce prison crowding because it would negatively impact programs that put inmates to work fighting wildfires. That would “severely impact fire camp participation — a dangerous outcome while California is in the middle of a difficult fire season and severe drought,” the lawyers wrote. A judge ruled against Harris’ office’s request.

When the memo provoked headlines that fall, Harris spoke out against it and said she was not aware of it. “The way that argument played out in court does not reflect my priorities,” she told the website ThinkProgress. “The idea that we incarcerate people to have indentured servitude is one of the worst possible perceptions. I feel very strongly about that. It evokes images of chain gangs.”

Also not the argument by her attorneys was to limit early release, not keep prisoners past the ends of their sentences.

You pretty well said it right there. Taiwan still pretends that they rule all of China just like mainland China's CCP says. It's just brainwash propaganda crap. And Taiwan's dictatorship may not be Maoist/Communist but it's still a dirty scummy oppressive dictatorship nonetheless. And I have no real sympathy for either one of them. They're both full of BS.

Also note that at the time a Supreme Court ruling was forcing California to release tens of thousands of prisoners held in state prisons due to overcrowding. It was a ruling fought bitterly by the state through the appeals process and all the way to the US Supreme Court twice, and included threats by judges to jail for contempt state legislators or any other state official who attempted to thwart the three judge panel enforcing the release. The judges even confiscated state tax revenue appropriated for other purposes to fund their priorities for California prisons. Prosecutors all across the state fought the releases using every reason they could come up with. That ruling still reverberates across the state.

Your information is very old. Pushed by the US to end it's human rights abuses as a condition of continued US support and the US recent recognition of PRC, Chiang Ching-kuo had to back off on his repressive ways including reducing the death sentences handed down to those convicted of protesting for an end of martial law during the Kaosiung Incident. Taiwan's first opposition political party appeared in 1986 and martial law ended in 1987. Chiang Ching-kuo died in 1988 and his successor Lee Teng-hui pushed democratic reforms, freeing prisoners the 1979 Kaosiung Incident and speaking with student leaders of the democratic movement. In 1996 Taiwan held its first contested Presidential elections which Lee won, becoming Taiwan's first directly elected President. Since then there have been I think eight more election cycles with the Presidency being won by candidates from both KMT and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). Taiwan is no longer a dictatorship but has joined the ranks of Asian democracies alongside South Korea and Japan. It is a free country with a free press, religious freedom, a vigorous political opposition and highly contested elections. In short, Taiwan is everything mainland China isn't but could be absent the CCP.

Most sanctions against individuals are pointless and accomplish nothing. Being outspoken on China would mean most have no intentions of travelling to Chinese territory or of buying property in China or investing in China anyway. It would surprise me if these sanctions had any effect at all with the possible exception of the entities like NGO's that may operate in China. They do so for the benefit of ordinary Chinese citizens anyway so the main effect is to disadvantage the already disadvantaged Chinese people.

When America and Europe sanction Chinese they may well have property or investments in "free" nations as an insurance policy if they choose to move from China to escape punishment or persecution from the CCP for some insult or "wrong action". Not that they would intend to get on the wrong side of the CCP but to have assets in the free world outside of the CCP grasp would be a smart move. So there may be more effect against Chinese officials than the other way around.

Still it is amusing to see such sanctions announced for the simple waste of time that it is. More likely it is a diplomatic attempt to show displeasure rather than anything else.

Very simply wrong logic. Xinjiang has not declared itself to be an independent nation yet London is concerned about the Uighurs human rights BUT totally silent about Beijington's refusal to let TW be a member of the WHO. This monstrosity is also a gross violation of the human rights of the Taiwanese people.

ROC-Taiwan was already an independent nation when PM Boris Johnson was still wearing short pants.

The only people or countries that denies such a solid fact are China, the UK... and all the Western , Asian and Washingjing.

This means all are also violators of the human rights of the Taiwanese people when all obeyed Beijigton's order not to let TW be a member of the WHO.

BTW, human rights are for all living persons irregardless of whether they live in an independent state or a colonized region.
