Typical of Wenbin to launch into a rant. Seems oblivious to China's naval expansion.
Height of hypocrisy to take exception to another sovereign nation bolstering its defence capability.
Breathtakingly arrogant.

You know when China says it's going down the wrong path it must be right thing to do. If the West wants to help keep Taiwan free then we need a capable enough force to deter China from blockading/invading Taiwan. Xi, somewhat like Putin, has explicitly said reuniting the motherland is his goal, and with complete power over China he could try. Hopefully he is learning something from Ukraine.

They used to call this 'The Great Game', but given all the other problems we now have with climate change, the warmongering McCarthyist rhetoric of Western politicians is tiresome and unnecessary. And no, TikTok is not a threat. This is not the 1950s - we really are not that stupid. Behave like fascists and restrict our internet, and we will return the favour.
They are nuclear-powered, which makes sense given how big the Pacific is. Not nuclear-armed. So China can quit whining like a spoiled child too.
Whether this is a good deal for Australians is up to them. It's a lot of money and a lot of jobs for some shiny kit that may never be used.
The world has more pressing problems. Maybe politicians could just confine themselves to Zoom and play with each other until they are called in for their tea.

Is Australia threatening to invade any of its neighbors?
No.
Is Australia building military bases on coral reefs which belong to its neighbor?
No.
Is Australia threatening with naval force to claim and annex islands which belong to its neighbor?
No.
How about China?
Yes, yes and yes.
China is the problem, not Australia.

Aw, those poor babies.

"Australia, UK and the USA already did that!"
If you're going to go down that road, you may as well include the ancient Greeks, the Romans and the Goths.

Said China, who is travelling further down the wrong and dangerous path for an unending military buildup to confront any and all who oppose its will.
The AUKUS pact will provide security and stability in the region, both of which China continues to object to. China is working towards a "might makes right" region where it, being the biggest and strongest must always get its way and everyone else must defer to China.
Sorry China, but the world has NO INTEREST in China taking control over others and dictating to others how to act and who to be friends with. China cant properly run its own country, yet it wants the power to run everyone else's countries? China is a bad joke.

China started the arms race years ago, yet it complains when others choose to also build up and improve their own military? An extremely hypocritical perspective from China.
The non proliferation regime will continue to be safeguarded. China blowing smoke again.
This shores up regional stability and peace. What it also does is oppose those who have agenda's for violence and invasion of other nations in the region. Like China's plans to invade Taiwan or to seize Senkaku's, or North Korean ambitions to invade South Korea again, just to name some examples.

International community? Really? Apart from China, which nations outright oppose this development? France who lost a lucrative contract? Indonesia is not happy, nor is Malaysia.
Who else? Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam all seem happy about it.
For those few who are opposed to it, have talks with any or all nations in AUKUS and get facts not rumors.

If China's officially and publicly not happy, then such a military strategy must be a VERY good idea!
Best way to avoid war's carrying a BIG stick!

Growing worry over China's dangers has resulted in considerable increases in military investment by many nations, including Australia and Japan, as part of a new determined effort to bring like-minded nations together in a stronger, unified front.

Utter deliberately inaccurate claptrap, but what else do you expect from a CCP mouthpiece. Nuclear powered not armed, no more violation than China or any country building a nuclear power station.
Translates as our nations militaristic expansion and imperial colonialist ambitions.
It is China’s own behaviour that is causing its neighbours to increase their military spending and look for security by seeking friends to link arms with in the face of China’s overtly imperialist rhetoric and actions.

Apparently light bulbs in Chinese refrigerator parts also have spying devices along with weather balloons, container cargo cranes, Tik Tok, Huawei phones, PhD students, real estate investors, etc.

Australia has a right to defend against the perceived threat that is China. China will continue to spend more of its gdp on its military bases on their perceived threat of the number of U.S. military bases in Asia.
Let China build its Military. Let Australia prepare for potential war with subs. To each his own prerogative.
Hoping for good news next week.

This but unironically.
That's fine but they should keep their bases the f out of the South China Sea.
Not sure what you are expecting to happen. China has the leverage to bring their dog Russia to heal but won't.

First, to be clear, I am cheering Australia buying nuclear powered submarines. But let's be honest about the non-proliferation matter. Both US and UK submarine reactors use high enriched, literally bomb grade uranium. That is how their reactor cores last on average 33 years, the life of the submarine. These boats never need holes cut in them to refuel them for their entire service lives. But allowing Australia to have a sub with such highly enriched uranium violates international treaties.
Caveat, Russia has in the past lent India nuclear powered subs the reactors of which used bomb grade uranium and there was no hue and cry from the west that I recall. And obtw, the Brazilians are building their own nuclear sub with French help, but like French and Chinese subs their reactor uses uranium enriched to around 25%, higher than for commercial reactors but well below bomb grade.

@Desert Tortoise
Are these nuclear powered attacking subs ballistic? Can they have missiles and later possibly be nuclear missiles equipped? That is do these submarines possess the structural capabilities utilize long range nuclear weapons?
quercetum
2, the sub is nuclear powered. If the nuclear sub has an accident, it can leak radioactive materials. A year or so, a US nuclear sub “hit an undersea mountain” in the South China Seas. The US was unable to confirm that there was no leakage of radioactive materials.
