The argument Fu is bringing has become really stale by now. Who, when and how, are going to rebuff a nation clearly on the wrong path, a nation which is not only polluting the natural environment of its neighbors on a large scale, but polluting political waters to boot.

The Peoples Republic of China may believe the US will do nothing if they take these islands. After all they have done nothing after the Russians invaded Georgia in 98 and now nothing when they invaded the Ukraine. It gives them the green light to invade these islands. They might invade some or all of the Okinawa islands believing the US will do nothing.
