A very sad moment reminiscent of 1989. China is not interested in listening or considering any rhetoric although it will sit at the Useless Nations and not react to any western opinion. 100% boycott of travel is needed for travel to China and 100% rejection of any plea from people who are detained or accidentally enter NK. It will never happen.

"However, his influence has breached the fundamental moral principle of Chinese patriotism and posed a challenge to China's stability and national security. This is why Chinese society opposes and despises him."

This is the "patriotism" of the unelected Chinese dictators that involves murdering Chinese citizens, running them over with tanks etc. The thieves and despots running China are scared of anyone who wishes to expose their corruption and lies, ruthlessly jailing and killing opponents. Chinese society knows who the true criminals are: Xi Jingping and his poliburo of villains.

"“China has shortcomings, many shortcomings in fact, and the greatest of these, in a word, is that it lacks democracy. The people of China are in dire need of democracy, because only with democracy can our war of resistance have strength, can our internal and external relations be right . . . can we build a good nation — and only democracy can ensure unity in China once war has ended.”

Mao Zedong - CCP Liberation Daily - June 13, 1944.

@Ossan. It's so ironic that Mao, the one that destroyed China's ability to develop towards a good democracy was the one that said that.

It's more than ironic, it's tragic. Liu Xiaobo spent his life advocating what the FOUNDER of the PRC himself said, and look how he was treated.
