‘China’ should show its sincerity and correct its mistakes, face up and resolve this incident, which has damaged Sino-U.S. relations.

If the shoe was on the other foot, what would be the reaction I wonder?

Let’s see . . . China is:

Threatening to invade Taiwan.

Building military bases on land which doesn’t belong to it.

Committing human rights abuses against the Uyghur people.

A liar which broke promises to Hong Kong as well as to the UK. Followed by human rights abuses there to this day.

Yep! The pot is calling the kettle black yet again! The big lie.

Kind of suspicious they recovered it days ago and have given zero evidence it was a spy ballon. If they can’t tell the difference we are all doomed.

The balloon and attached equipment were delivered to an FBI lab yesterday. If this is like the aircraft mishap investigations I am familiar with the FBI and intel community will try to reassemble as much as they can on a warehouse floor trying to re-create what it looked like before it was shot down while giving the individual components a detailed examination. That takes weeks, not hours.

"We are not looking for a new Cold War," he said.

We are already well into one. The question is whether the war will stay cold or will heat up

Ah ... China trying to be the victim here. It wasn't their country overflown by a spy balloon. Let's see if I have all the CCP claims and US responses around the first huge balloon ....

CCP Playbook on Spy Balloons

China: It's a commercial balloon, not govt (what is the Chinese company name? - they won't say)

China: It's a weather balloon

China: It's our spy balloon

China: It's too high, the US can't shoot it down

Costa Rica and Columbia both had Chinese spy balloons overfly their countries, which China has admitted.

US: We have a U-2 that took high resolution photos of the balloon and payload, seeing many antennas, which a weather balloon wouldn't have.

US: Shot it down.

US: Recovery is underway off the US coast, in territorial waters.

China: We demand you return our spy balloon.

China: We follow all international laws / policy

China: We shot down your balloons and "crushed the enemy in a heroic move"

China: The US is the most destabilizing country of the world

US: Recovery is completed of the spy equipment and it is being analyzed.

China: We didn't mean to fly it over the US mainland (i.e. we wanted to overfly Hawaii)

Am I missing anything? Seems China was trying to overfly some specific locations and missed with at last 3 attempts. What's worse - they were caught.

Like holding that 'all birds are drones', holding that 'all balloons are spies' is both hysteria and hysterical.

We all know how much spying China does in many areas including stealing technology.

Beijing has set up more than 100 so-called overseas police stations across the globe to monitor, harass and in some cases repatriate Chinese citizens living in exile, using bilateral security arrangements struck with countries in Europe and Africa to gain a widespread presence internationally.

I have to disagree with China.

The Biden administration acted extremely unfazed at letting the CCP fly a surveillance balloon across the US taking thousands of photographs and videos of military installations and nuclear missile silos.

A good start would to get a users manual from China. But unfortunately Chinas weather ballon companies are being sanctioned.

Thé Chinese dictatorship is clearly projecting here as it is blatantly the worlds second most "shrieking old woman" regime right after fat Kim's regime in Norkistan...

For China, next time using some non metallic materials to make a balloon and the underneath equipments to prevent detection, that will be much safer. Good luck next time!

Though the US is not stating the name of the company that made the balloon shot down over the ocean and recovered, the company is apparently an approved PLA vendor and has a public facing website that describes similar balloons including videos of them aloft.
