Amazing that a country that rants daily against "interference in internal sovereign affairs" and "outside manipulation" is clearly interfering in the internal affairs of the US...

Who is China to say who our politicians can meet with inside our own country...

Though if I was Tsai I'd pick a different person to visit - McCarthy is nothing but MTG's weak neutered poodle...

@ harms China's sovereignty and territorial integrity,

Mighty rich hearing China claim concern about sovereignty and territorial integrity while siding with Russia, and refusing to challenge the Russian invasion of the sovereign nation of Ukraine, while Russian is trying to expand its territory there (see Crimea and Donbas)

And after that threat by China... the U.S. should have her address the entire U.S. Congress.

America does not care what China thinks, says, or does. Zip it!

Good for President Tsai. She met with Pelosi before so it's good that she will meet now with McCarthy. Although I consider him to be a spineless Trumpeteer, the US policy towards the Chinese Dictatorship is bipartisan and this will reinforce it. As for China retaliating, not sure what else is left for them to do.

I hope the two meet and even Wine & Dine, China needs to take a CHILL PILL.

Message for Communist China: you sick bunch of criminals do not control where the Citizens of free Taiwan go in the world- nor who they can meet.

Retaliation? More like the Chinese leaders will throw another tantrum then have another cry. Losers.

Be my guest... We're not afraid of you.

What are they even talking about? Taiwan and U.S. are in the free world, where people meet and talk and do something together wherever or whenever it pleases. Of course they don’t understand that in a dictatorship or communist regime lead country. So what do normal people do if they don’t understand at all? Yes, they don’t meddle in, shut up and turn to other things or business. And that’s exactly what China can and should do here.

Whom a US Citizen meets within the borders of the USA is no business of China, aren’t they always ranting bug eyed about not interfering in internal affairs and sovereignty whenever anyone so much as obliquely comments on anything regarding China? Not to mention their singular failure to denounce poo tins flagrant breach of sovereignty with his criminal invasion of Ukraine, what happened to their much vaunted demands for the respect of sovereignty their?

Pretty standard Chinese hypocrisy.

Now, why is ISO 3166 defining the country name as "Taiwan (Province of China) "?

Because obviously the CCP has paid off the International Standards Organization, and/or there are Chinese nationals or CCP supporters in the organization that (either willfully or against their will) must tow the CCP line and advance China's position.

China never actually does anything though do they.

China threatened to retaliate on Wednesday if U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy meets Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen during her planned transit of the United States next month, saying any such move would be a "provocation".

I guess they will invite Trump to visit Beijing in retaliation.

The simple fact is the US is free to meet with anyone it wants to inside its own borders and if China thinks it can interfere in this basic right, they have another thing coming. Do not interfere in Hong Kong or the Uighur issue, but we can tell your politicians who they can and cant meet inside America?

Alarm bells should be ringing across the globe in every democratic nation in regards to the hubris being shown by China, imagining it can tell the most powerful nation on the planet what it cant do at home. Imagine how much worse such demands and threats will get for everyone should China become the most powerful nation on planet Earth.

Take action now to weaken China in every way possible beginning with trade. Stop buying from Chinese manufacturers and look for other suppliers from Bangladesh, India, Thailand or Indonesia. Investing in China has not worked and it is time to remove all investments from China and minimize trade with it. China has turned evil, can not be trusted on any level and must be made to see the error of its ways.

Retaliate?

The Government of China retaliate?

For U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy simply extending diplomatic gentility.

To simply** **clasp hands in greeting? friendship?

The world needs to stop playing China's game and start by recognizing Taiwan as a separate country, provide them with full UN membership and force China to decide if they want to withdraw from the UN over this or not.

The China from the 1970s isn't there anymore. They cannot be reasoned with.

We've seen it with their lies about the SARs.

The bogus 9-dash claims which found illegal internationally.

The tantrums around talks,

And their military actions against their neighbors rather than talks.

China doesn't want a direct confruntation. The CCP wants to cause as many pain points, just short of killing others using military means, as they can get away with. They aren't against killing, as long as it appears accidental. How many non-Chinese fishing boat have they sunk over the 9-dash claims? Suppose we'd need to ask Vietnam and the Philippines to get a good count.

The longer the world waits, the more time the CCP has to prepare. Moving this month would be smarter.

Meh, the Yanks should just tell China not to meddle in its internal affairs!

Who they decide to meet, on their own home soil, is up to them.

Regadless of what's in paper says, Chinese Communist Party has never ruled Taiwan and Taiwan is in reality an independent country ruled by a different government democratically selected by its own people.

China’s President Xi shook hands with a revengeful, genocidal, invading, ethnic-cleansing murderer last week. ‘Nuff said.

The PRC should be told to pound sand. Its red lines keep moving and we are supposed to think it is a responsible country.

What do they intend to do?...send a chinese Diplomat to San Francisco ?

meanwhile, remember who met who last week. ROFL.

Well said Peter. Then perhaps you'll agree how concerning it is that Victorian Premier Dan Andrews is currently in Beijing for secretive talks with Chinese Communist officials.

The scant itinerary doing its best to pretend that the trip is boring and insignificant aside, his decision to ban members of the Australian press from attending is not only worrying, but hardly appropriate in a democracy like Australia, wouldn't you say?

Before a country can say no to China it has to first get out of the China market. Money has made many such countries spineless, including many so called freedom loving countries. Wake up before China rules the world under its iron boots.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

And, what are you going to do about it?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

House speaker, senate delegations, house delegations, states governors, president and vice president should start scheduling monthly visits to Taiwan.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Waaaaaaa the Chinese dictatorship....

The old lady doth shriek too much.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

And, what are you going to do about it?

Two things...and Jack just left town.

Given the recent Xi/Putin meeting, China needs to shut it.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

So, let me see if I understand this. A dictatorship is opposed to freedom of assembly and freedom of speech? Wow, what a surprise.

JAPAN HAS LEGITIMATE CLAIMS TO MAINLAND CHINA

It's worth noting that the current situation regarding Taiwan is in part a result of past mistakes. The Jimmy Carter administration's decision to abandon the Republic of China (ROC) and recognize the People's Republic of China (PRC) as the sole legitimate government of China in 1979 has had significant consequences. However, it's not too late to correct those mistakes and recognize Taiwan as the independent and sovereign nation that it is.

China's insistence that Taiwan is part of the mainland is not supported by the facts. Taiwan has been an independent country since the end of World War II, and it has never been part of the PRC. Moreover, the people of Taiwan have repeatedly expressed their desire to remain independent and to have a say in their own future.

On the other hand, China's claim to Manchuria is based on its conquest of the region during the Sino-Japanese War, a conflict that ended over 75 years ago. By contrast, Japan's claim to the region is based on a legal and historical foundation, and it has a stronger case for insisting that PLA troops be withdrawn from the area. Yet, Japan does not foam at the mouth in decrying the PRC's occupation of Manchuria.

It's time for the international community to recognize the facts on the ground and stand up for the sovereignty of all nations. We cannot let China's aggressive posture go unchecked, and we must continue to do what is right, even when it's not easy. It's time to take a stand for Taiwan and for all countries that are threatened by China's expansionist policies. The CCP is a rogue government, and it needs to be taken down.

If we don't agree with PRC:s claim, then we should not agree with PRC:s claim! Something is amiss here...

Pelosi visited Taiwan when she was Speaker. That angered China. McCarthy will again try to provoke China into war with a pending visit. Destroy everything first before you can have a global Reset.
