This is encouraging news.

This is not encouraging news. The virus hasn't gone anywhere, we don't have a vaccine and we don't have any treatment. For gods sake just don't open that market again...

Will we see a rebound in infections now? Probably not, but that doesn’t mean it’s not happening; it means China can’t be trusted.

5 ( +11 / -6 )

And when will they issue an apology for basically sending the world into a tailspin. And for those who say the virus didn't storiginate in Hubei are factually wrong.

I wish China's and Chinese people's hygine consciousness improves from now on.

How is this not encouraging? It obviously doesn't wipe out all the millions of other problems we have with this pandemic, but its surely better to be reading that things are improving at least in China rather than to be reading that the virus is still out of control there too, no?

This is excellent. It is herding finally and will have no place to reproduce. Obviously there were many more infected with very minor issues. Just like in Japan.

Hurry up with that antibody test so they can see how many are now immune.

Let me know where to send the bill for damage

Lockdown is eased, censorship tightened, global propaganda intensified....

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Yes, the virus is dead from all the disinfectant sprayed everywhere, let's see what it does to the people now.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Yeah, right....they so so, but how do we know it is so? Just not buying it.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

I say great news if true, but Japan... please don’t ease the visas yet.

This is not encouraging news.

Yes, it is. While we can’t trust the figures coming out of the CCP, it is clear that lockdown measures have at the very least reduced the spread of this virus - Xi wouldn’t have visited this area otherwise. Some potentially good news is coming out of Italy too with the number of new cases dropping over the last few days.

We are nowhere near out of the woods yet but it seems we do have the power to slow its spread. A resurgence is possible but there are measures that can be taken and countries are now better informed.

This is good news.

Since they won't be able to export their production for at least several months, now it would be a good opportunity to try again to let the Yuan appreciate in value so people can have higher purchasing power, and start consuming what they produce, rather than exporting it all to foreign countries. Now it's a good time to try to switch to a consumption based economy while the rest of the world is on lock down and keep pumping trillions into their crippled economies devaluing their currencies, ramping up inflation and one step away from a massive recession.

That's great news for China I guess, but what about Japan and the travel companies who are allowing travel from Japan to Spain, parts of Europe etc., then they come back like the guy from Hachinohe who went to Spain knowingly well that they are having issues there as well but only took advantage of low airfare for his business trip. This guy needs to pay if any one from the surrounding area gets this virus since there were no cases until his.

Good for China.

Yes, fewer people are dying. Good for China. I don’t like citizens of any country dying.

I agree with getting hold of the CCP to clean up food hygiene. This has to be done by pressure from all countries.

Actually, it strongly looks like we have a treatment (a cocktail including the chloroquine that Trump mentioned), and I interpret the the sinking death rate as an indication that the Chinese are using it. And the "that market" you mention is in Wuhan, not in Hubei.

Believe this then you are need counseling and help. Seriously trust China at your own peril.

Do not buy anything coming out of china least their propaganda ! ! !

And now the whitewash and revisionist history will begin. The Chinese government can now pat itself on the back as heroes for stopping the spread of the virus (supposedly) while smugly acting like a shining example of what to do in the event of a pandemic.

This, while modeling studies have shown that had the Chinese government been more forthcoming from the very first signs of a unique and serious flu like infection in early December, and clamped down hard to stop it from spreading, 95% of it would have been contained and we would not be seeing the world misery we do today.

And, yet, people still spout off about how the Japanese government whitewashes history. smdh

I hope Chinese Government will ban eating and selling of wild animals and game meats from now on. This kind of very contagious killer disease breakout was not just once and now twice, which infected to human from animal by handling and eating sick wild animals in the China. First one was SAR virus and the second was Covid-19, both diseases were originated in China.

The Chinese Government should be taken seriously and make illegal to selling and eating wild animals also cat and dog as well. SAR virus was not spreading as fast as Nobel Coronavirus Covid-19 virus, but it was deadly disease too. We can call Armageddon virus if the new killer virus was infected to human from animal by eating and handling sick wild animal. Only Chinese Government can stop, such as a killer virus disease by making illegal to selling and eating wild animals in China.

It's not encouraging because the Chinese aren't reliable when it comes to being honest about anything that casts China in an unfavourable light. It's well-known, however, that millions of non-residents were in and out of Hubei before they started the lock down of Wuhan. Also, what was the level of contact and travel between China and N. Korea before the announcing the problem?

They should, with Olympics being cancelled and their economy being so stagnant.

Olympics haven’t been canceled.

They don't forbid visitors from their Master, ehm, from America which is the virus hotspot right now to come to their country, why not China?

I agree about America, things need to be restricted more, but this whole thing started because of a lack of honesty and openness from China and until they can be trusted then the easing of visas would be a huge mistake. Japan has issues too but that doesn’t change my view.

Hint China will recover first and once again become the worlds factory.

China needs to be taught a lesson , the rest of the world needs to boycott china its goods and its tourism, the leaders of china need to be stood on the mat in front of the world court in the Hague to answer the charges of negligence and public endangerment, along with destruction of the world economy, and the deaths of 1,000s.

I know it will never happen but it is what should be happening.

Never forget and never forgive !

I heard that the virus was made in North Carolina and deployed by the US military in China.
