China's ruling Communist Party has deployed its propaganda playbook to portray its leader as firmly in charge,

which is expected from an authoritarian state run by a leader-for-life backed by a single party. 'Westerners' pushing to undermine the remaining bits of their nation's democracies and wanting to have them replaced by even greater authoritarianism than those states already have must be challenged. Using the principles their democracies are built on.

China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia and others provide examples of current authoritarian states.

Remember what you did to Dr. Li Wenlieng? People around the world should never forget how the CCP really is... first mistake was harming one of the very individuals (a Chinese national that was doing their job as a medical professional) who was trying to help prevent this situation that the CCP idiotically persecuted him for... and now they wanna "look" like they had nothing to do with the ENTIRE SITUATION... To hell with them.

Despite the terrible cover-ups by local Wuhan authorities, no lesson has been learned. Censorship has been further strengthened; only "beautiful" stories can be published and viral. Critics and civil rights activists have continued to "vanish" into air (some "reappear" in a detention house, apologetic).

Beijing's spin doctoring are going underway, by holding many international bodies such as WHO as hostages.

Should we hug him or slug him for his part in this mess?

Love the mask the Winnie the Xi is wearing. Nothing like feeding into the ignorance that surgical masks will help prevent you from contracting viruses.

How about a People's War against eating strange wildlife kept alive in unsanitary conditions? If China had done that back in 2003 it's possible we wouldn't have this Wu-Flu today.

Let me guess, you want to be the one who determines what is strange wildlife. How about they just start eating whale and horse? You know, what normal people eat.

The Chinese propaganda machine is working at full steam, there are a few social media posts claiming that the Chinese had the best response to the virus whereas the rest of the world is struggling.

If the CCP had not suppressed news of the virus outbreak, persecuted anyone who tried to speak about it, more than 3000 Chinese would not be dead today.

The Chinese public have seen through it, there was a video of a CCP official being booed and called 'Fake' in Wuhan last week.

Xi, by going into hiding, using the crisis to settle political scores, showed the worst sort of leadership. I wish the total incompetence of the CCP leadership results in them being removed...

Anyone who uses this crisis to spread their anti-Chinese hatred is lower than a dead animal to me. You are truly despicable.

Using this crisis to spread CCP propaganda, ignoring the 3000+ dead and the sufferings of the others is disgusting.

No one can go lower than this....

China and its leaders have a lot of weight to bare, they are responsible for the spread of this virus and the decimation of the worlds markets. China handled it well, is absolute rubbish , they have completely screwed up ! They need to be tried in the court of the people of the world who are now in isolation, have lost family members, who have lost their savings from the stock market or are in lock down around the world.

China screwed UP big time !

“There is a Chinese idiom that says, ‘Point to a deer, call it a horse,’” the philosophy major said in an interview conducted via instant message.

This brings back memories of Japanese language school. The kanji for Ba Ka or a fool is 馬鹿, a horse and a deer. To point to a deer and say it’s a horse is the same as pointing to the low number of deaths in absence of tests and say the situation isn’t serious in Japan. Head in sand or baka.

This is a phenomenon seen in China, US, and Japan. Xi does whatever he can and who knows what’s really going on there. Trump says there are tests but the hospitals in DC can’t carry out tests and many are rejected. He says the tests are “beautiful.” Abe will not let go of the Olympics at all costs like that Golden Retriever with the burrito in its mouth.

“There is a Chinese idiom that says, ‘Point to a deer, call it a horse,’” the philosophy major said in an interview conducted via instant message. “If you say a deer is a horse, then that is a distortion of fact.

It's also where the Japanese word for fool ---"baka" (馬鹿) --- comes from.

China handled it well, is absolute rubbish , they have completely screwed up !

If only it were just a screw up. Conspiracy theorists say it’s bio-warfare and China retaliating against the US in the trade war to bring down the US economy in the year of an election where the markets have to be doing well by disrupting the supply lines.

It’s the way some people fight; like the coward slashing someone’s tires instead stepping outside to fight face to face. You don’t even know who hit you. Xi is the cat that swallowed the canary in that picture. I wouldn’t put it past China.

China is a bully. Instead of feeling guilty and remorse for ignoring the warnings of Wuhan doctors about the prospect of an outbreak when a small group of Wuhan people were infected, they have threatened the world – No collaborative research – in case Xi Jinping and Beijing were criticised for their cover-up and causing a pandemic outbreak.

The world is paying now for allowing China to carry on business as usual for the last 17 years.

Xi claims " “people’s war” against the disease" when in fact he has pulled the ENTIRE WORLD into his "domestic sanitary war".

Xi's China has been building up the war footing for years in the South China Seas and hardly been challenged at all during that time. If a little uncontrolled, 100% Chinese made virus can turn the world upside down with such little effort due to Chinese government greed & sloppiness, how do you think the world will do when China gets too big for its little boy pants?

The world is coming apart at the seams because people can't buy enough toilet paper, the markets are melting down to levels not seen since September 11, 2001 for the USA, and in Canada Black Monday 1987 fallout from the NYSE crash. Oil prices have dropped by over 42% since this ChinaVirus2.0 started. Russia, OPEC and the Saudis are getting into a race to the bottom and most business is starting to grind to a halt world-wide... AND we are just getting started.

Japan will most likely lose hosting the 2020 Olympics and will have a VERY difficult time trying to sell anything to the world as long as the Yen stays up there in the stratosphere. South Korea is running scared meanwhile it would appear that China has stopped the ChinaVirus2.0 and they are almost healed (if you believe their numbers).

One would almost think that this might have been China's plan all along except for the fact that a logical and sane person would know that this would be foolish. China may recover quickly if they had planned this but the world won't and if China magically had the cure and tried to sell it, the world would quickly catch on but let's assume China is not that dumb.

In the meantime IF China really is almost back to good health (doubtful), it will be months before the world is, so China's customers won't be buying anything soon. This ChinaVirus2.0 is going to cost the world dearly BUT I think all the signs are there that China will pay the highest price this time. Businesses will be moving shop after this life lesson. The world relied too much on China and cut China too many breaks. China took advantage of that and burned the world. The world can't be that stupid two times in a row. Maybe a few countries but not the world. It's time to rethink how the world does business with China and move on.

Once bitten, twice shy, three times and you're F@%KING FOOL!

Exactly.

@Chip Star

Both SARS and COVID-19 are in the "coronavirus" family, and both have emerged from animals in China's notorious "wet" wildlife markets which have their roots in the horrific famines caused by the ineptitude of Chinese communist party.

Experts had long predicted that these markets, known to be potential sources of disease, would enable another outbreak. The markets, and the wildlife trade that supports them, are the underlying problem of these pandemics; until China solves that problem, more are likely to emerge.

Here is a starting point for those wishing to research further:

Why does no one seem to be talking about punishing the Chinese government for the ChinaVirus?

China has destabilized the world economy because of its lies, deceit, and unsanitary conditions.

China should be made to pay a very steep price for what it has done to the rest of the world.

I find it irrelevant when Beijing used the red heart symbol for its slogan "Race against time, Fight the Virus." In semiotics, the red heart often connotes the image of caring and love toward others. If it is the case, then this red heart must be from, and for, Xi Jinping.

How has China raced against time and fought the COVID 19 given it has plenty of time to stop the virus spreading from a small cohort of infected Wuhan people in December last year?

12 ( +13 / -1 )

@ChipStar,

No worries. Just want to make sure everyone is aware that the "wet" exotic wildlife markets are not a part of traditional, mainstream Chinese food culture.

They emerged during the famines that arose within the last fifty to sixty years with strong encouragement by the Chinese communist party in the 1970s / 1980s.

Trump must be going out of his mind with jealousy - no free press to hold Xi accountable - and an entire media industry under government control with a goal of issuing nothing but "glowing" and fawning fake news...

Bet Donnie is taking notes...

The world court needs to take china to task for what it has done to the world with its poor handling of this very bad situation, everyone who has suffered, been affected, had their life disrupted or lost earnings should be compensated by the communists.

They have no choice because the people are getting restless!

China's coronavirus recovery is 'all fake,' whistleblowers and residents claim

Why does no one seem to be talking about punishing the Chinese government for the ChinaVirus?

Or the lacklustre propagandists in Washington?

Both regimes have done a very poor job and the deaths that could have been prevented are down to their ineptitude and muzzling of the experts.
